Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System
Chapter 544: Think Before Acting
In the end, Han Yichen could only sigh. "You three really suffered a lot of grievances. For you three to have such a mother..." The calmer Han Ruochen and the rest were about the divorce; the more Han Yichen could tell that they had been disheartened and disappointed with Meng Yunhan.
Since Han Ruochen, Han Yong and Han Xuehan were so calm and clear-headed when he mentioned divorcing Meng Yunhan, it suggested that they no longer had any feelings for his wife and their mother.
Sins. The two of them had really committed some heavy sins, and that too, to make an adopted daughter happy. In the past, he used to listen to his wife, and she kept repeating that Han Ziyan was too pitiful compared to their children. After all, they had parents to take care of them, but Han Ziyan had no one. Anyway, he would often hear how Han Ziyan was more pitiful than the rest of their children. So even when he was aware that his wife was somewhat biased, he turned a blind eye every now and then.
But only after talking with his children and actually paying attention to what was happening at home, did he realise what kind of absent father he was!
Han Ruochen pursed her lips tightly; she knew what her father wanted to say: that it was the three of them who had committed too many sins in their past life and ended up having such a parent, but what Han Ruochen wanted to tell him was that if there were any sins that she had committed in her past life, she had already repaid all of them to her mother in her past life.
In the previous life, she had been locked up by the Yang family and was used as a breeding tool and in the end, she died with her eyes open. In ancient times, there was a legend where Nezha carved up his own flesh and dismembered his bones to return to his parents in repayment for the debt of his birth.
She had given her life back to her mother and returned whatever debt she owed to Han Ziyan in her past life. It was more than enough. She had repaid her debts.
"Dad, we don’t blame the situation at all. We can determine our own fates. Mom may have a nasty temper and bad character traits, but as long as I work hard and don’t give in to her, I will be able to lead a good life." Han Ruochen smiled comfortingly at her father. She wasn’t in a rush with this one either, as it was quite a long journey. "Dad, if I can ...and I am sure that I can do it. Look at me; I was able to win the award and even got the docks under my control. Do I need to fear anything? I will get only better from here on out."
She paused and added, "Ultimately, the decision is yours. If you don’t want to live with Mom, then no one can force you. But if you want to live with her, then the decision is also yours. We cannot live this life on behalf of you and Mom and the same goes for us. We have grown up. Just like birds, one day, we will fly out of this nest and have another home of our own. Life is short. In the premise of being responsible, you definitely have to make a decision on your own. We cannot make this decision for you."
Han Ruochen did not want to make her father think that they were the ones pushing him. Anyway, she was not going to restrict her father, and she expected the same thing from him.
In this life, she was going to live her life on her own terms, and she expected her father to do the same thing. She would not enforce something on him that he did not want to do.
"I will think about it... Let me think about it carefully." The calmer and more objective Han Ruochen was, in her words, carrying no emotions or anything of the sort, the more confused Han Yichen felt. When did his children grow up so much that they started having such strong opinions? All of a sudden, he could not help but feel like he had suddenly grown ten years old. He was such a failure as a father. He had no idea when his children started growing up and started becoming so decisive.
"Dad, you cannot rush your decision in this matter. It is similar to getting married; you need to think about it properly." Han Ruochen nodded. When Han Yichen talked about the divorce, she did not show any enthusiasm, and now that her father had wavered, she was not going to show any disappointment. He could do whatever he wanted to do, and she was not going to stop him.
Han Ruochen knew that the reason her father spoke about the divorce was that he was angered by Meng Yunhan’s actions in the last few months. If not for that, he would have never spoken about divorce at all.
She had seen what utter despair was when she died after being locked up like an animal. Of course, she would not be disappointed just because her father refused to divorce their mother. She was calm and collected, but Han Yong was not. He turned angry when he saw his father wavering like this. Their mother had abandoned their father when he was at his weakest; what else did he want? He got up from the ground and then walked out of the room angrily.
Han Ruochen noticed him and his actions, but she did not stop him. Instead, she let him leave. He was too easily agitated; these days would temper his anger a little.
Even Han Yichen was surprised when he saw Han Yong leaving. He turned to look at Han Ruochen and parted his lips. "He..."
"Big brother is fine, Dad." Han Ruochen tucked her father under the blanket and patted him to comfort him a little. She then straightened up and said to him, "I have to check the docks, Dad. Since the magistrate has handed me the authority of the docks, I should check it out and make sure that Old Scar won’t run amok anymore." Old Scar had been terrorising the docks for quite some time; he was also the one who bought the seafood at a low rate from the fishermen but he had his own backings which helped him to stay protected till now.
He was the cause of trouble for many of the fishermen on the docks.
When Han Ruochen mentioned Old Scar, one good thing happened. Han Yichen’s attention was diverted from Han Yong, and he turned to look at Han Ruochen. Furrowing his brows, he could not help but say, "You...Ruochen, you should be careful. I am afraid some things are simply out of your control. Old Scar has been ruling over the docks since he was seventeen years old."
"Not only are most of the fishermen scared of him, but they also fear that going against him would cause retaliation. Thus, neither of them dares to touch him. I am afraid that if you go to the docks and ask Old Scar to leave, he would not be willing. I am afraid he might even harm you if you push him too much." Han Yichen was worried about his daughter. Though he was filled with pride when he thought about how his daughter had become the saviour of the country and won the docks under her name. But at the same time, he was worried.
What if those people harmed Han Ruochen?
"Dad, I will be fine." Han Ruochen was confident in herself. When she thought about how the docks would be under her control, she could not help but be filled with joy. If this went on, then it would not take long for her to create a fleet of ships. "I know that Old Scar is not a good person, but this dock can help our family. Dad, you already know that we have more than twenty thousand yuan in debt on our heads. Now that the situation is like this, how can I not work hard? If we don’t earn this money, I am afraid that we will be in legal trouble."
Though she had repaid the debt, she would never tell the truth to anyone. If she told the truth to them, she was worried that they would not work hard, and neither would they let her work. With this excuse, she would be able to take risky adventures in the future.
Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, Han Yichen’s face turned pale. Twenty thousand yuan was not a small sum of money! Even if he was willing to work hard his entire life, he was worried that he would not be able to earn even half of it!
