Chapter 543: Thinking of divorcing her (II)

Han Yichen thought of all the years that he had spent with Meng Yunhan. He might not have given her a rich life, but he had done everything in his power to make sure that his wife would live a good life. His mother did not want him to marry Meng Yunhan, but he went against his own mother and married that woman to save her reputation. Even though she did not know how to cook or clean, he took care of most of the household chores by keeping servants.

He had given her a good life! And yet when it came to him, she was ready to watch him die. What kind of wife was she?

During the past few months, when he was staying in the hospital, he saw Old Man Zhao’s wife taking care of Old Man Zhao. She was very considerate toward her husband. However, whenever Meng Yunhan came to the hospital, she always pulled a long face, as if he was forcing her to take care of him. She always looked at him with resentment, blaming him for not making enough money and for being biased toward his own biological children, which was weird.

Why would he treat his adopted daughter better than his own biological ones?

Han Yichen was really tired. Given how his wife treated him, it was meaningless to stay as a couple. The reason one got married was that they wanted their better half to take care of them when they grew old and weak. His wife was unwilling to take care of him now, what kind of care would she take care of him when he grew old and could not earn any money?

Just looking at the other couples who treated each other with affection and respect, he was seized with an impulse to divorce his wife. He loved her. He loved her to the point that he was willing to ignore everything for her. But she was getting more and more outrageous!

Though he wanted to divorce her, he couldn’t bring himself to. After all, they had been married to one another for so long and even had children. He just couldn’t say those words to Meng Yunhan even though he was thinking about it.

Han Yong parted his lips immediately. He wanted his dad to divorce that woman as soon as possible, but before he could say anything, Han Ruochen spoke up, "Dad, no matter what your reasons are. As long as you are happy, we are going to support you."

"That’s right, Dad." Though Han Yong wanted to tell his dad that it was better to divorce his mother as soon as possible, he changed his words and said to Han Yichen, "If you want to divorce Mom, then I will agree as well." He did not say much because he was worried that he would end up telling his dad that his mother was cheating on him, but he could not bring himself to say it. "If you are not comfortable, then it’s alright for you to divorce Mom."

Han Xuehan turned to look at her two siblings; she could not understand what was going on with them. Instead of convincing their dad that it was better to stay married to their mother, they actually wanted to get the two of them divorced. Which couple did not quarrel? Was there a need to take such a drastic step? The two of them had been married for so many years. How could they divorce now?

"You two...what do you ...what...do you even know what you are saying?" Han Yichen was stunned when he saw that Han Ruochen and Han Yong were both speaking in favour of the divorce. "Do you really hate your mother that much?"

"Dad...she married me off to a woman like Xu Yuanshu. Do you think that I can ever forgive her?" Han Yong clenched his fists when he thought about how his mother had married him off to her niece to control him better and even made him break up with his girlfriend; he was so angry that his face turned red with anger. "Dad, I know that as a son, I should not speak ill of my mother, but when I think about how she had ruined my entire life just because of her stubborn attitude and desire to control me, I cannot...I simply cannot forgive her."

Han Yong’s eyes were red with anger and grievance. When he thought about how his own mother had married him off to a woman whose reputation was not good and whose family was a mess, he felt like killing someone. He only stayed silent because deep down he still cared about his mother. But now that he knew that Meng Yunhan had actually borne the child of another man, he was simply disgusted by her.

Han Ruochen glanced at her brother. She did not state her stance clearly, but it was clear that she, too, did not want to have Meng Yunhan in the house. It was better if her father divorced Meng Yunhan without finding out the truth. Given how much her father liked her mother, Han Ruochen was worried that he might end up having a heart attack if he found out the truth.

"Ah Yong, you..." Han Yichen could not bring himself to say that his son should not blame his mother; after all, she was his mother, and he should not say such harsh things to her. But when he thought about how Meng Yunhan had truly ruined his son’s life by making him marry a woman like Xu Yuanshu, he could not say a word.

"Dad, just think about your decision." Han Ruochen saw that her father was torn between two sides. He did not want to divorce their mother, but at the same time he was disappointed in her. He was more likely speaking out of anger. There was no need to take his words seriously. Even though she wanted to say that it was better to divorce, she did not want to push her father too much, lest he start feeling pressured.
