Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System
Chapter 439: Smell Of Green Tea
"No need, no need. This was made specially for you by your daughter; it’s her filial piety for you. How can I drink this soup?" This was something that Han Ruochen cooked for Han Yichen because she wanted to nourish his body; the wardmate was not stupid enough to do such a foolish thing. Anyway, anyone could see that Han Yichen needed more nourishment than him. So he smiled and declined the offer; he was too embarrassed to drink the soup that was meant for Han Yichen.
What was more, the two of them had been staying in the same ward for a while. He had often heard Meng Yunhan cry poor in front of Han Yichen. He even knew that their family owed a foreign debt of twenty-one thousand yuan. No matter how one looked at it, the situation at Han Yichen’s family was not good. It must have been difficult for this young woman to arrange so many nourishing meals for her father every day; how could he take his share from it?
"Uncle, drink a bowl too." There was a lot of fish soup in the lunchbox. Han Ruochen ladled some soup into another bowl and handed it to the man beside her father’s bed. "Uncle, please try my cooking and tell my dad that I am better than my brother. He often compares me with my brother and just won’t accept that I am better than my eldest brother."
The ward mate and his family had been quite polite to her father when her brother was not at the hospital; they even helped him go to the restroom.
The ward mate was also a glutton; when he smelled the fragrance coming from the bowl of soup, he could not refuse Han Ruochen. Since Han Ruochen had already placed the bowl of soup in front of him, he did not refuse and took it with a smile on his face. "Then I shall be thick-skinned and drink a bowl of the soup. Your dad and I have been staying together for so long; my ears are getting calloused after hearing how good you are. So let me take a sip from the soup."
The man took a sip of the fish soup and his eyes lit up. "Young lady, you are right. Your dad is too biased. I have eaten a few things that your brother cooked for your dad, but the taste of your cooking surpasses his by a long shot. Even the taste of a master chef’s cooking from the state-run restaurant is not as good as yours."
The ward mate gave a thumbs up to Han Ruochen as he praised her with a smile on his lips. He then turned to Han Yichen and spoke to him reprovingly, "And you too, big brother; why are you so unfair? Your daughter is clearly better than your son when it comes to cooking. You shouldn’t lie to her. You are really blessed that you have such good cooks at your home. Even your son is good at cooking. You can actually eat such delicious meals at home; you are really lucky, brother."
"Haha, you are a really good talker." Han Yichen, who hardly ate out, assumed that his ward mate was only saying these things to please him and Han Ruochen. He smiled without agreeing with the ward mate.
He did not know that what the ward mate said was indeed a fact; Han Ruochen and Han Yong’s cooking was indeed better than the cooking of the imperial chefs at the restaurant. If not for the fact that Han Ruochen did not want to work as a chef, she could have made a living with the skills that her brother had taught her.
Han Ziyan, who was sitting idly by the side, turned dark in the face when she heard the two men singing praises of Han Ruochen. This old man was so blind that he couldn’t even see that Han Ruochen was not a good person. Look at her; she was willing to pour a bowl of soup for a stranger, but she was not willing to give it to her. The two of them might not be related in the eyes of the world, but she was still Han Ruochen’s sister.
Han Ruochen would rather feed a stranger than give it to her.
How could such a person be good?
Though Han Ziyan was upset in her heart, she was also a bit hungry. Last night she only ate some stir-fried dishes, and there was nothing else other than rice. She was a growing woman, and naturally she would not be able to have her fill with just a few stir-fried dishes with no meat. She, however, had no idea how to ask for the soup.
"Ruochen, you should drink some soup as well." Han Yichen felt better after drinking a bowl of soup. He turned to look at Han Ruochen, and when he saw how she had grown even thinner than before, though Han Ruochen was slender to begin with, as a father he could see that his daughter was working too hard. His heart could not help but feel touched when he saw how Han Ruochen was running around for him.
"I ate something when I came here, Dad." Han Ruochen shook her head and refused to drink the soup. This was something that she cooked for her father, who was in need of nourishment. How could she drink it? She poured another bowl for her father and said, "It’s you who need to drink more of this soup."
As soon as she finished speaking, Han Ziyan, who was sitting on the side, could not help but say, "Sister Ruochen, I did not eat anything in the morning. You know, I was worried about Dad and came straight to the hospital without eating, and as you were not awake then, there was no food at home. Why not give me a bowl of soup? I am also feeling a bit hungry. Of course, if there are leftovers, I have no problem finishing them." As she spoke, she did not forget to pout aggrievedly at Han Ruochen.
