Chapter 386: Taking Financial Control Back
Chapter 386: Taking Financial Control Back
When Meng Yunhan heard Han Ziyan’s exclamation, she knew that Han Yichen had woken up. She hurriedly rubbed her eyes and made them turn red and swollen as if she had been crying. Once she was done, she also messed up her carefully styled bun, making herself look even more haggard than ever. Only then did she turn around and rushed inside the ward in a hurry.
"Yichen! You are finally awake; do you even know how worried I was?" Meng Yunhan’s worries and fear started to dissipate that very moment. Since Han Yichen was awake, she no longer needed to worry about anything. With him being alive, her mother in law would no longer cause any trouble for her. "Yichen, you gave us such a fright if something happened to you, how would Ziyan and I survive?"
Han Yichen moved his lips with difficulty but he couldn’t say a word. He was thirsty and his throat was really dry.
Han Ziyan noticed that her father was licking his lips again and again. She realised that her father was feeling thirsty and asked, "Dad, are you thirsty? Let me pour you a cup of water." with that she hurried to pour a cup of water without waiting for her father to say anything.
By the time she poured water in a cup, she realised that Han Yichen was injured and could not move his hands. He was lying flat on the bed with his back pressed on the mattress. From the looks of it, it was quite clear that he would not be able to drink the water from the cup. Realising this, she turned to look at her mother. "Mom... how am I supposed to do it? I have never done this before." She had never taken care of a person before; usually, it was others who took care of her. How was she supposed to take care of a person instead?
"I will help you..." Meng Yunhan was clueless as well. She had no experience in taking care of patients either. In the past, when she was unmarried, her parents took care of her and when she got married, Han Yichen was the one who used to take care of her. Every time she was sick or in trouble, her husband was the one who took care of her and never let her move from the bed. How was she supposed to know how to take care of a person?
However, they had already bitten the bullet and there was nothing they could do about it. With her lips pursed, she could only help Han Yichen raise his head and keep his head steady. "Pour the water in his mouth; I think he will be able to drink."
Han Ziyan nodded. She placed the cup next to Han Yichen’s mouth but in the end, because her hands were not steady at all, Han Yichen ended up having no water at all. All the water ended up falling out of the cup and dripped onto his collar, causing it to turn wet. When Han Ziyan saw the water droplets dripping down, she turned embarrassed. This was not what she wanted.
"Dad...dad ...I am sorry."
"Ziyan, don’t be anxious. It’s alright, this is your first time taking care of a patient; your father will not take it to heart." Meng Yunhan hurried to comfort her daughter and saved Han Ziyan from any further embarrassment. She then turned to look at Han Yichen and added softly, "Old Han, you must not blame Ziyan. You have no idea; ever since you had an accident, Ziyan has been worried sick. She did not even go back home and stayed at the hospital ever since you had the surgery. Don’t blame me for speaking too much but Ziyan has been crying throughout the entire time. She did not even dare to sleep a wink. It is as the saying goes, ’As distance tests a horse’s strength, time reveals a person’s heart’."
"You should realise by now which of your children is filial to you. As for Han Ruochen and the rest, I don’t even wish to talk about it. No matter how heartless they are, at least they should take care of you in such a situation. As for Han Yong and the others, you might as well forget about them. I don’t want to say anything lest you say that I am trying to sow discord. But look at Ziyan; she is so pitiful. She has tired herself out for you. At least remember the good things that she has done for you."
"Mom, it’s alright. I am fine. I am not feeling tired at all. Dad has taken care of me like I am his biological child, so it is my duty to take care of him and wait on him." Han Ziyan rushed to speak as she was worried that she would miss the cue to show off her filial side. "Dad, it’s alright. Don’t be so disheartened. My elder siblings have their own things to worry about. As for me, I am the youngest and I need to understand their situation more."
Seeing that Han Yichen was not saying anything, Han Ziyan turned awkward. She shot a glance at her mother.
Even Meng Yunhan was a bit confused but she still hinted to her daughter to continue and Han Ziyan did as her mother asked her to do. "My elder siblings are busy with their work and cannot stay at the hospital throughout the night. It’s normal for them to rest more. Anyway, I do not find it tiring. You have taken care of me ever since I was a child. This is what I am supposed to do. Dad, don’t think too much; my siblings care for you as well. When you were in surgery, Sister Ruochen and I even donated some blood for you."
"Alright, alright. Don’t say too much. Your dad has just woken up; he must be feeling tired. Let him rest some more. Wait for him to get better and then you can chat with him as much as you want." Meng Yunhan interrupted Han Ziyan with a smile when she realised that Han Ziyan had said most of the things. "Old Han, do you want to sleep for a while longer or do you want to eat something?"
