Director Geng then kindly asked about her family situation.

He then asked, "By the way, how is that project of yours coming along?"

Fu Mingxue replied immediately, "The blueprints are all finished, and the research institute has triple-checked them."

Director Geng was amazed to hear they were already confirmed.

He was thrilled. "That’s wonderful news!"

Now that the blueprints were confirmed, it meant development could begin immediately.

"Thank you for all your hard work!"

Fu Mingxue smiled. "It was no trouble at all! We have a meeting in half an hour. Director Geng, you should join us."

Director Geng nodded. "Alright. I’ll head over then."

Once he left, Fu Mingxue went to her team’s area.

Everyone from Team Six was present. Even Chang Qingze, who had been stationed at the base, was back.

Everyone was very happy to see Fu Mingxue.

After exchanging brief greetings, Fu Mingxue announced the meeting.

They were all very excited as well.

This meeting wasn’t just for Team Six—the materials team had to participate too, so Fu Mingxue sent someone to notify them.

When it was time for the meeting to start, everyone was already in the conference room.

The two people from the materials team were Li Zhao and Gu Zhen.

Fu Mingxue was the head of the entire project.

Therefore, she took the seat at the head of the table.

Even Director Geng sat to one side.

Fu Mingxue stood up, her gaze sweeping over everyone, then took out the blueprints she had brought with her.

The master blueprint had already been put on display.

What was distributed to everyone were the more detailed sectional blueprints.

"Now that everyone is here, let’s begin the meeting—"

...

At five o’clock, Qin Wenhao came back from the cafeteria carrying a piece of meat he’d had someone there buy for him.

When he got home, his wife wasn’t back yet, just as he’d expected.

So, he carried the meat into the kitchen.

He planned to make dumplings for dinner.

If his wife came home, that would be even better.

He knew his wife was quite fond of dumplings.

And even if she didn’t make it back in time, he could just wait and boil the dumplings for her when she got home later.

What he hadn’t anticipated, however, was that Fu Mingxue’s meeting would run especially long this time.

It was already midnight, and she still wasn’t home.

After a moment’s thought, Qin Wenhao simply locked the door and left the military compound.

When Fu Mingxue finally got off work and walked to the factory gate, she was very surprised to see Qin Wenhao. "What are you doing here?"

"I was a little worried, so I came to check on you."

’What’s there to be worried about?’ Fu Mingxue thought.

She didn’t say this out loud, though. Instead, she asked, "How long have you been waiting?"

"Not too long." He had gotten there around twelve-thirty.

He had jogged over.

It was now about one-thirty.

"Then let’s get going!"

"Let me." Qin Wenhao took the bicycle from her.

He had Fu Mingxue sit on the rear seat.

It was deep into the night. Fortunately, the sky was clear, and the stars above sparkled brightly.

To be honest, it had been a long time since the two of them had traveled together like this at night.

"How come you’re working so late on your very first day back?"

Qin Wenhao asked.

His heart ached for his wife.

’This is too exhausting.’

"I had a meeting. By the way, I might be very late for the next few days, so you don’t need to come get me."

"I don’t really have anything else to do." He couldn’t fall asleep at home alone anyway.

Coming to pick up his wife—even if it meant waiting a little longer—set his mind at ease.

Fu Mingxue said, "But my hours are unpredictable—"

"I don’t mind. I can’t sleep anyway. It’s no trouble to come over and wait a bit."

Since he put it that way, Fu Mingxue didn’t try to persuade him any further.
