Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 581: By What Right?
Gao Lan couldn’t believe that Qin Wenze would actually bring up the word "divorce" in public.
She was so furious she nearly fainted.
When the onlookers saw the couple’s argument escalate to the point of bringing up divorce, some of the more kind-hearted ones immediately started trying to calm Gao Lan down.
"Gao Lan, all couples fight. It’s normal. But you can’t let it get this heated. Just go on home for now. Once your Wenze has had a chance to cool off, you two will make up, won’t you?"
"That’s right. Men just say ’divorce’ when they’re angry. It doesn’t mean anything. Don’t take it to heart. Just go home for now."
"You know what they say, couples always make up after a fight. You two just need to calm down and talk it over properly."
"You shouldn’t throw the word ’divorce’ around. One day, it might actually happen."
As much as these neighbors enjoyed the drama, they were good-hearted people.
They all chimed in, urging her on.
They gently pushed Gao Lan back toward her house.
They didn’t go inside.
They just thoughtfully pulled the main gate shut for her.
Still, everyone couldn’t help but sigh. How long had this young couple even lived here?
They were already fighting every other day.
Things had seemed much better lately, and the two of them had looked so affectionate.
But now, they had actually fought to the point of divorce.
Once Gao Lan was back inside, she did nothing but cry.
Qin Wenze grew extremely frustrated by her crying. At that moment, he didn’t want to stay in that house a second longer.
"Gao Lan, I’m so tired of this," he said. "If you’re going to be this resentful, then we really can’t go on like this. It would be better to just get divorced sooner rather than later."
He had realized—every time his younger brother and his wife received something, she became unbearably jealous.
’He truly couldn’t understand it. What they received was what they deserved. What did that have to do with her?’
’Why did she always have to make comparisons?’
’Even if Mom gave them some things, those things were Mom’s to give. Parents could give their things to whomever they wanted. What was there for Gao Lan to be jealous of?’
’Besides, hadn’t everything been settled after Gao Lan adopted her nephew? His mother had told them to just focus on their own little family.’
’The Qin family’s assets would stay within the Qin family.’
When Gao Lan heard him bring up divorce yet again, her anger surged.
She ground her teeth. "Qin Wenze, let me tell you something. A divorce is impossible. Your son is the reason I’m in this state, and you have the nerve to ask for a divorce? I’m telling you—in your dreams."
Her words stoked Qin Wenze’s anger as well.
"If that’s how you want to be, then fine," he retorted. "I can’t deal with you. You can have this house to yourself!"
After throwing those words at her, he turned, grabbed his bicycle, and stormed out of the small courtyard.
Seeing him leave just like that, Gao Lan began to panic. "Where are you going?"
But Qin Wenze didn’t answer.
He pushed the bicycle out, got on, and rode away without a second glance.
Gao Lan chased after him, but she was a step too late. Qin Wenze had already ridden off.
He paid no mind to her hysterical shouts.
Only after riding out of the alley did Qin Wenze realize he had nowhere to go.
His work unit didn’t provide him with a dormitory.
His friends all had wives and children; how could he impose on them?
’As for my brother, Qin Wenhao...’ He immediately squashed the thought. ’Qin Wenhao just got back to Beijing, and he needs time with his wife.’
’Besides, Mrs. Fu is there at the courtyard house too.’
’It would be too awkward for me to go there.’
’Most importantly, I don’t want my brother and his wife to know that Gao Lan and I are fighting because of the house they bought.’
After some consideration, he pedaled his way back to the Qin Family Mansion.
The moment he stepped through the gates of the mansion, he came face-to-face with his mother.
He called out sheepishly, "Mom..."
