Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 475: Came Looking
After the meal, Mrs. Fu saw the four children go off to play and pulled her daughter aside.
She asked quietly, "Are you still going to the hospital tonight?"
Fu Mingxue shook her head. "I’m not going. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to go right now. Besides, I’m not very good at comforting people. It’s okay, Mom. I know what I’m doing."
When Mrs. Fu heard this, she had a feeling the sister-in-law must have said something when her daughter visited the hospital earlier.
’But it was fine if her daughter didn’t go. That mouth of hers—good for chewing people out, but probably useless for offering warm words of comfort.’
"Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing."
Fu Mingxue still carved out some time to tell the four children a story.
"Alright, it’s story time. Today, we’re going to talk about—"
"Mom, why don’t you just go work! You’re so tired, you don’t have to tell us a story. Let Big Brother tell us one."
Little Qin Hao had no intention of letting his ears suffer.
Qin Keke didn’t want to listen to her mother’s stories either, because they were too hard to understand.
So, when her brother said that, she eagerly nodded in agreement. "We’ll listen to Big Brother! Mom’s tired, Mom should rest."
Qin Yue: ...?
’What story was he supposed to tell?’
Little Keke was the clever one, though. She went right up and took her big brother’s hand.
"Big Brother, Big Brother, can you tell us a story?"
Qin Yue looked at the little dumpling’s hopeful eyes, braced himself, and nodded. "—Okay."
The twins immediately dragged him into the room.
Qin Ruqiao didn’t quite understand what was happening, but if Big Brother was going to tell her little brother and sister a story, then she had to listen too.
So she followed along.
Fu Mingxue: ...?
’Wait a minute, what was that all about?’
’She’d gone to the trouble of carving out some time, and now these two little rascals were refusing to listen—did they dislike her storytelling?’
’Was her storytelling really that terrible?’
’They were all stories about famous people!’
’Tsk. No sense of appreciation.’
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Fu Mingxue, who had been about to enter the room, went to open the door instead.
She was a bit surprised when she saw who was outside.
"Director Liu?"
"Ah, Group Leader Fu! You certainly don’t make it easy to find you! Good thing Xiao Song was here to lead the way, or I’d never have found this place."
It was only when Director Liu said this that Fu Mingxue noticed Song Mingyue standing behind him.
Seeing Teacher Fu looking at her, Song Mingyue grew nervous and blurted out, "Teacher Fu, Director Liu asked me to show him the way—"
Fu Mingxue: ...?
’She just showed him the way. What’s the girl so nervous about?’
"Have you eaten?"
Song Mingyue nodded. "I have."
"Then come on in and we’ll talk." Fu Mingxue stepped aside, letting the two of them in.
Director Liu was carrying two bags.
Mrs. Fu heard the noise and came out of the kitchen.
She saw two strangers standing there.
"This is my mom. Mom, this is Director Liu and a classmate of mine, Song Mingyue."
Song Mingyue immediately greeted Mrs. Fu, "Hello, Auntie!"
Director Liu followed suit with his own greeting. "Hello there!" He hadn’t expected Fu Mingxue’s mother to look so young.
But at 57, it wasn’t out of line for him to address her so familiarly.
Mrs. Fu quickly recovered. "H-hello. Please, come in and have a seat."
Director Liu quickly replied, "We can’t stay. I just have a little something I need Group Leader Fu for at the factory. Group Leader Fu, are you free at the moment?"
Since he had come all the way to her home in person, she definitely had to go.
"I’m free. Let’s go now."
"Ah, good! Goodbye, now!"
Mrs. Fu: ...?
"G-goodbye!"
