Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 398: The Child Has a Fever
"Brother Li, her bike is electric!" Gu Zhen said, sharp-eyed.
He saw that the bicycle had been modified.
Li Zhao had seen it too, of course.
"Mind your own business. Let’s go."
He took the lead and started walking toward the dorms.
’But that woman lives in the family housing, which doesn’t seem very close to the factory.’
’It’s so late. Isn’t her husband coming to pick her up?’
Then he remembered that Fu Mingxue’s husband was a soldier—he was probably too busy with his duties to pick her up.
’But if she’s alone, isn’t it too dangerous for her to go back?’
’And she’s so beautiful. If someone figured out her work schedule—that wouldn’t be good at all.’
The thought flashed through his mind.
Li Zhao froze—’Why am I paying so much attention to her?’
He stopped so abruptly that an unsuspecting Gu Zhen almost bumped into him.
"Brother Li, what are you standing there like an idiot for? Let’s go!"
A flicker of emotion crossed Li Zhao’s dark eyes.
He then started walking forward again.
’Still, I really shouldn’t be paying so much attention to a married woman—I would never do anything immoral.’
’Although, I have to admit, Fu Mingxue has a captivating charm that makes it hard to look away.’
’Her appeal isn’t just her looks, but the unparalleled confidence she radiates during meetings, not to mention her endless professional knowledge.’
’In all my life, I’ve never seen such a capable young woman.’
’When she was in that meeting, it was as if she was glowing.’
...
Fu Mingxue sneezed.
’Who’s cursing me?’
When she rode her bicycle home, she found the light in the courtyard was on.
She pushed open the door and went inside.
"Mom, why are you still up?"
Mrs. Fu sighed. "The children are sick. How could I possibly sleep?"
Her mother’s words shocked Fu Mingxue. "The kids are sick? How did they get sick? Is it a high fever or something else? Have you taken them to the hospital? How are they now?"
The barrage of questions showed just how worried she was.
"They suddenly threw up during lunch. It really scared me; I thought they’d eaten something bad. Then I went to check on them and felt their foreheads—they were burning up. I took them to the hospital this afternoon. Sister Wang from next door went with me. I couldn’t have managed on my own otherwise."
"But their fevers went down in the afternoon, so I thought they were fine and brought them home. They were okay during dinner, too, though they didn’t eat much. I thought they’d be alright after another dose of medicine, but who knew their fevers would come back tonight."
She was worried sick.
And to make matters worse, her daughter was working late and hadn’t come home.
When Fu Mingxue heard their fevers had returned, she panicked. "I’ll go check on them."
She hurried into her mother’s room.
The light was on, and she immediately saw the two children, their little faces flushed red with fever.
She went over and touched their foreheads—they were frighteningly hot.
Both children’s foreheads were just as hot.
This was the first time they had been sick since that incident at the Qin family’s home.
"Mom, did you give them any medicine?"
Mrs. Fu answered immediately, "I did, but their temperatures shot up again. What do we do?"
Fu Mingxue said quickly, "We have to take them to the hospital, of course. Mom, get the kids. We’re going to the hospital right now."
Hearing her daughter’s words, Mrs. Fu snapped out of her state of helpless panic.
With her daughter here, she finally had someone to rely on.
She immediately strapped one of the children to her back with a carrier.
She held the other one in her arms.
Fu Mingxue went to get the bicycle.
