Chapter 387: Three Men

Fu Mingxue looked at him with an expression of pity.

"How pitiful!"

The thief’s hopes soared when he heard this.

’She must be soft-hearted because she’s so pretty. It’s just a shame that man came out of nowhere and ruined everything for me.’

He put on a grateful expression.

"Miss, thank you for letting me go. On behalf of my entire family, I’ll be grateful to you for the rest of my life."

Fu Mingxue smiled. "Don’t mention it! Once you’re inside, work on turning over a new leaf and try to get out early. Xiao Zhao, take him to the station’s police post."

The thief’s smile froze on his face.

’What did she just say? Didn’t she say I was pitiful?’

’Wasn’t she going to let me go?’

’Why is she having someone take me to the police post?’

He stood there, dumbfounded, unable to believe he’d been played by this woman who looked so naive and innocent.

Xiao Zhao was already dragging him toward the station’s police post.

When he finally snapped out of it, he started struggling again. "Let me go—"

But his struggles were useless.

However, this little scene was enough to deter the other thieves who had been watching and itching to make a move.

Of course, some of them were accomplices of the one who’d just been caught.

One of them ran off to report what had happened.

Fu Mingxue paid the little drama no mind.

She just stood there.

Xiao Zhao returned shortly after.

He saw that nothing else had happened to Group Leader Fu and breathed a sigh of relief.

Just then, the train arrived.

Xiao Zhao helped her with her luggage and boarded the train.

His brow furrowed when he saw that the sleeper car was full of men.

Fu Mingxue knew what Xiao Zhao was worried about.

"You can go back now."

He wanted to find a conductor to get her moved to a different car, but there wasn’t enough time.

The train wasn’t stopping for long.

After putting down her luggage, he had no choice but to get off the train.

Fu Mingxue’s bunk was a lower one.

The bunk above her and the upper and lower bunks across from her were all occupied by men.

Staying here was definitely going to be a bit annoying.

’Maybe I should find an attendant later and see if I can switch cars.’

’But I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea of moving to a hard-seat car.’

Just then, the train began to move.

"Hey, young lady, where are you headed all by yourself?"

The man on the top bunk leaned over to ask Fu Mingxue.

Fu Mingxue ignored him.

Still, she really didn’t want to be in this spot.

An upper bunk would have been fine, but this was a lower one. The thought of a man sleeping right above her head...

...made her extremely uncomfortable.

Just then, the man from the upper bunk across the aisle spoke up. "What business is it of yours where she’s going?"

The man who spoke was young and quite handsome.

Fu Mingxue gave him a surprised look.

When she had first entered the sleeper compartment, he had been lying down, so she hadn’t seen his face. She’d assumed all three men were together.

Apparently not.

Besides, the man in the bunk above her seemed a little afraid of the man across the aisle.

Just as she glanced over, his eyes met hers.

"Do you want to switch bunks with me?"

Of course, Fu Mingxue was willing.

"Thank you!"

Seeing that she agreed, the man hopped down.

However, he didn’t move to her bunk. Instead, he had the man on the bunk below his move to Fu Mingxue’s spot, while he himself took the now-empty lower bunk.

Fu Mingxue saw that the two men knew each other, so she didn’t say anything more.

She climbed up to the top bunk.

Perhaps because the man had just been lying there, the bunk was still warm.

Using her bundle as cover, Fu Mingxue pulled a bedsheet out of her space and spread it over the mattress.

That made her feel a little more comfortable.

’Thank goodness I was smart enough to pack a bedsheet in my space.’
