Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man
Chapter 728 - 252: Daring to Love and Hate, Well Done
Qin Mei pressed his head down onto the pillow, and Gao Qiang immediately lost control of his body.
Qin Mei disinfected the area and inserted another needle. But before she could inject the medication, she pulled it out again.
"..." Grandma Gao stared at Qin Mei, stunned. ’What is she doing now?’
"My apologies. I was too nervous and missed the spot," Qin Mei said, looking ashamed.
Gao Qiang was in agony, but he couldn’t make a sound or even move. His body trembled, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
Seeing that her grandson neither cried out in pain nor cursed, Grandma Gao gritted her teeth. ’If my grandson can endure this, then so can I.’
Qin Mei inserted the needle and pulled it out again, repeating the motion a dozen times. It was painful just to watch. Grandma Gao’s heart ached for her grandson, and she finally spoke up to stop her. "What do you think my grandson is?"
’If this continues, she’ll turn him into a pincushion.’ What surprised Grandma Gao was that her grandson hadn’t made a single sound. If it weren’t for his trembling body, she would have thought he’d fainted from the pain.
"Old Madam Gao, having you watch over my shoulder is making me nervous," Qin Mei explained. "And when I get nervous, my hands aren’t steady."
"Mom, don’t just sit there. Come sit over here," Mrs. Gao said, her heart also aching for her son.
Grandma Gao glared at Qin Mei. ’Now she’s blaming me?’ The more she watched, the more she felt something was off about this woman.
"Mom." Mrs. Gao stood and helped Grandma Gao to a seat on the sofa.
Gao Qiang realized it. ’This doctor is doing it on purpose!’ He prayed desperately for his Granny to see through her act and save him.
Without Grandma Gao watching over her shoulder, Qin Mei’s movements became much more deft. She was an expert in pressure points and knew exactly where to jab to cause the most pain, leaving Gao Qiang in absolute agony.
The faces of Mrs. Gao and Grandma Gao darkened. Even an idiot could tell something was amiss. Grandma Gao strode forward and, while Qin Mei was gleefully jabbing away, ripped the mask from her face. When she saw who it was, her expression changed drastically. "You!"
"It’s me. Surprised? Shocked?" Qin Mei said, beaming at Grandma Gao. ’They say Old Madam Gao is perceptive and suspicious, but it took her this long to figure it out. How pathetic.’
"What have you done to my grandson?" Grandma Gao shrieked.
The needle was still embedded in Gao Qiang’s body. Qin Mei flicked the syringe, showing no intention of removing it, and sneered. "Whatever you did to Xu Jiali, I’m doing to your grandson."
"You..." Grandma Gao pointed a trembling finger at Qin Mei.
"Did Young Master Qiao send you to torture my Xiao Qiang?" Mrs. Gao could no longer remain calm, though she was still more composed than the furious Grandma Gao.
Qin Mei shot her a sidelong glance, her eyes filled with a contemptuous sneer. "Jie Jingchen isn’t that petty."
Mrs. Gao believed her, but Grandma Gao did not. "My grandson is the future son-in-law of the Governor Mansion! Aren’t you afraid of offending them by torturing him like this?"
"Still dreaming of marrying into the Governor Mansion?" Qin Mei said with a scoff. "You’re certainly old, and your dreams are just as outlandish. After offending the Qiao Family, your Gao family will find it difficult to even survive in Xiangjiang."
’Doesn’t this old hag have any clue what the relationship is between the Governor Mansion and the Qiao Family?’
"It is Qiao Wei who insists on marrying my grandson, not the other way around," Grandma Gao said, craning her neck stubbornly. ’As long as the Gao family marries into the Governor Mansion, with their help, it will only be a matter of time before we surpass the Qiao Family.’
’After Old Sir Qiao dies, the Qiao Family will descend into chaos. Jie Jingchen is an outsider, after all. How could the rest of the family agree to let him take over? If there were no one else with the Qiao surname, perhaps. But there is. Even though Second Young Master Qiao was born of a concubine, he’s still a member of the Qiao family. Would he really allow the family’s assets to fall into the hands of an outsider?’
Qin Mei shot Grandma Gao a contemptuous glance. "Do you know why Qiao Wei approached your grandson?"
Of course, Grandma Gao knew; her grandson had told her everything. ’It doesn’t matter what the reason is. As long as Qiao Wei gets close to my grandson, he has a chance.’
"Because she fell in love with my grandson at first sight," Grandma Gao said shamelessly.
Qin Mei laughed. ’I’ve met shameless people before, but she takes the cake.’ "Jie Jingchen told Qiao Wei to seduce your grandson. His goal was to stop his aunt from marrying into your family. And your grandson certainly didn’t disappoint him."
Instead of getting angry at Qin Mei’s sarcastic words, Grandma Gao just scoffed. "Xu Jiali has a terminal illness. The thought of her marrying into our Gao family is nothing but a daydream."
"Your thinking aligns perfectly with the Qiao family’s. Gao Qiang marrying Xu Jiali is an absolute daydream." Qin Mei spoke the last sentence slowly, her every word crystal clear.
’Before I met the Gao Family, Xu Jiali had praised them to the heavens. I couldn’t understand it back then. What’s wrong with two people falling in love? Why did Jie Jingchen have to break up the happy couple?’
