Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend
Chapter 1605 - 665: The Hidden One
Chapter 1605: Chapter 665: The Hidden One
How could Wuyue have known that when she bent down, her well-proportioned chest would sway right in front of Chi Ye’s eyes?
Although she wasn’t as voluptuous as the women of the Demon Clan, her slender waist and taut clothes beautifully framed her curves.
Chi Ye dared not let her come any closer and grabbed her at once, but Wuyue let out a muffled hum.
Chi Ye quickly released his grip and noticed a bruise forming around Wuyue’s wrist.
Damn it!
Chi Ye, somewhat annoyed, ruffled his hair. This woman—was she made of water? A gentle grab and she bruised this much.
Wuyue gritted her teeth, almost grinding them to dust. Serving next to Chi Ye, she feared that without vigilance, she might reveal her strength and strangle this red-haired baboon to death.
"From now on, you’re not allowed to touch my things without permission."
Chi Ye casually placed the Merit Book on the bedside table.
Seeing that she lost another chance to sneak a peek at the Merit Book, Wuyue turned to leave.
"Hold on, who gave you permission to leave? Stand by my side and serve me during my meal. Surely you know how to serve, even if clumsily?"
Chi Ye pulled a long face.
Wuyue hesitated for a moment and, under his "tyranny," reluctantly moved to stand beside Chi Ye.
"Slice the meat into pieces and let the soup cool on the side."
Chi Ye didn’t move, directing her with gestures.
Wuyue rolled her eyes and had no choice but to comply.
"The meat pieces are too small, like they’re stuffed between my teeth. You eat it."
"The soup’s too cold, tastes gamey—drink it."
Throughout the meal, Wuyue didn’t stop.
Wuyue was so exhausted she didn’t even have the energy to curse Chi Ye’s ancestors to the eighteenth generation.
This man wasn’t just a tyrant, but utterly picky, finding fault everywhere; all the meat and soup he rejected ended up in Wuyue’s stomach.
By the end, Chi Ye was only half full, but Wuyue was nearly stuffed to death.
"Good, clean up. No need to serve lunch or dinner."
Chi Ye waved his hand—just watching her wobble with the twenty pounds tray killed his appetite.
Besides, the Demon Clan differed from the Human Clan.
Although many of today’s Demon Clan had assimilated human habits, quite a few still retained beastly ones; eating once a day or even once every few days was quite common.
This woman was simply too thin; she needed to be fattened up.
Hmm, got to feed her more meat.
No dinner?
Wuyue nearly smashed the tray in frustration. What now?
The potion Shui Yaoyao gave her was meant to poison the dinner.
If she failed Shui Yaoyao’s mission, Shui Yaoyao would surely punish her again.
The punishment wasn’t the main concern. The key was that Wuyue also wanted to take this opportunity, while Chi Ye was asleep, to find a way to secretly check that Merit Book.
Wuyue’s eyes rolled schemingly and landed on the teapot on Chi Ye’s desk.
Chi Ye seemed to enjoy the tea she brewed; perhaps she could find a chance to secretly add the potion to the tea.
Wuyue felt a stirring in her heart and pretended to retreat obediently.
Only after she left did Chi Ye return to his normal self.
He picked up the Merit Book unconsciously, and by afternoon, Chen Yi, his face bandaged to the point of being unrecognizable, walked in.
Chi Ye glanced at him sidelong, inexplicably pleased.
"Lord, the Demon King requests your presence."
"I’m not going; that old man is probably trying to match me with Shui Yaoyao again. Just say I’m out inspecting."
Chi Ye refused without even a frown.
Of course, Chi Ye understood Shui Yi and his daughter’s intentions.
For days, Shui Yi had repeatedly invited him to banquets, where Shui Yaoyao always appeared scantily dressed, constantly toasting him and offering herself.
The scent of her makeup nearly made Chi Ye vomit his last night’s meal.
"Lord, could this not be unwise since it’s the Demon King’s territory?"
Chen Yi hesitated.
"Since you put it that way, it does seem unwise. Why not attend the banquet in my stead? After all, you’re quite familiar with Shui Yi and his daughter."
Chi Ye stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"I wouldn’t dare, I’ll report back to Demon King Tongtian right away."
Chen Yi felt chills under Chi Ye’s cold gaze.
Recently, he sensed the emperor’s mood was quite unstable; using him as a punching bag in the morning without warning, Chi Ye punched him on the face one after another. Just thinking about it sent shivers down Chen Yi’s spine, resigning himself to delivering the message.
Only then did Chi Ye lazily continue flipping through the Merit Book.
Chen Yi fully relayed Chi Ye’s words diplomatically at Demon King Tongtian’s royal tent before taking his leave.
"Father, it’s obvious Brother Chi Ye is in the tent; he clearly doesn’t want to see me."
Shui Yaoyao, dressed in a water-red gown with exquisite makeup, was waiting for Chi Ye to arrive.
Who knew Chi Ye would avoid her again.
"Yaoyao, he is, after all, the Demon Emperor. If he doesn’t wish to come, there’s nothing I can do as his father. Besides, Chi Ye has declined you many times; there are many fine young warriors in the Demon Clan, like the great-grandson of Nanluan Demon King, who’s quite a talent..."
Demon King Tongtian also showed helplessness.
He had long noticed Chi Ye had no interest in his daughter, but Shui Yaoyao clung to Chi Ye nonetheless.
Shui Yaoyao, being several hundred years old and still unmarried, risked losing her chance if delayed much longer.
"Father, I’ve told you before; I only want Chi Ye. As his elder and a founding hero of Beiyu Palace, can’t you request a marriage from Empress Dowager Chi?"
Shui Yaoyao pouted.
"You know Chi Ye’s character. If even Empress Dowager Chi can’t handle him, how can he still be single? I think you better give up on this."
Demon King Tongtian shared her frustration.
"No, Father. I must have Chi Ye. If you won’t find a way, I will think of something myself."
Frustrated, Shui Yaoyao stormed out, ignoring Demon King Tongtian.
Demon King Tongtian sighed and frowned, deeply troubled.
Just then, a soldier under his command entered the royal tent and quietly reported a few things.
Upon hearing it, Demon King Tongtian’s expression changed dramatically.
"Is it true? The Senluo Ghost Fruit King has fallen into the Human Clan’s hands?"
"Absolutely true. The information was extorted from several Human Clan spies. It’s said that the Senluo Ghost Fruit King will soon be transported from Senluo Wanxiang City to the Jiu Provinces Base Camp. Demon King, should we report this to the Demon Emperor?"
"Not yet. Send orders to summon the two Great Demons."
Demon King Tongtian pondered his daughter’s earlier defiance and decided not to inform Chi Ye just yet.
Before long, two demon leaders entered the royal tent. After discussing for an entire afternoon, they bowed and assured.
"Demon King, rest assured. We will bring back the Senluo Ghost Fruit King as your longevity gift."
They left when it was already evening.
A young demon soldier standing guard at the royal tent’s entrance stood rigid.
His features were ordinary, but his phoenix eyes glowed with a glassy sheen under the setting sun’s light.
