Reborn as the Top Omega Hunter: My Alpha Hears My Inner Thoughts [BL]
Chapter 87: Was He Only an Illusion?
Jiang Zihan still remembered those days when he had desperately tried to raise his affection level, guiding him toward a better, more successful path. But every time, no matter what he does, "Mo Shiyan" would always jump down the same building and lead to a bad ending, without exception.
But why would he be here right now? If this "Mo Shiyan" is in this world, then where did the Mo Shiyan he became friends go?
Countless questions rose in his mind, which he did not notice that deep in his consciousness, he had unconsciously distinguished between the two "Mo Shiyan’s". He also did not seem to realize that whenever something happened, the first person who came to mind was always Mo Shiyan.
The sound of footsteps brought him out of his thoughts. He looked up and realized that "Mo Shiyan" had held a long sword in his hand, its tip dragging slowly across the ground and toward his direction.
Jiang Zihan: "!!!"
There was no time for him to think about the ending of Mo Shiyan, because he knew for a fact that if he were struck by that sword, he might not even live long enough to think about it.
He instantly wanted to turn around and run when he suddenly felt himself stuck in place, totally unable to move at all. He watched as "Mo Shiyan" walked closer and closer to him, his heart filled with despair. When "Mo Shiyan" finally stopped right in front of him, he closed his eyes and decided to accept his fate, as there was nothing else he could do about it.
One second...
Two seconds...
A minute passed, and he still did not feel any pain. Just as he thought that "Mo Shiyan" was nice enough to give him an end without torturing him, he slowly opened his eyes and was shocked to realize that he was still standing in place (alive), and that "Mo Shiyan" did not move his sword at all.
Jiang Zihan: "...?"
At the same time, "Mo Shiyan" reached his hand out and ruffled Jiang Zihan’s hair. Jiang Zihan was stunned for a moment; his eyes widened in disbelief. "Shiyan... is it you?" he asked; a light of surprise flickered through his eyes.
"Who else could it be?" Mo Shiyan asked back, raising an eyebrow.
Then he lowered the hood of the robe and asked, his voice sounding a bit playfully. "Did I scare you somehow?"
Jiang Zihan patted gently on his chest, trying to calm his pounding heart, and complained, "Of course! You almost scared me to death!"
But from the angle at which Mo Shiyan could not see the expression on his face, a hint of confusion appeared on his face. Even though they are the same person, but the Mo Shiyan in this world hadn’t experienced those things that the other "Mo Shiyan" had experienced, why would their temperament be so similar?
Then he quickly shook his head, believing that he might be thinking too much. It might just be himself mistaking them in such an environment. He threw that strange conclusion to the back of his mind before turning his head and asking, his voice filled with curiosity. "Shiyan, why are you here? Why are you wearing these clothes?"
He lowered his head and looked at himself, then continued to ask, "Why am I not able to use my magical energy in this place? Also, do you know how to leave this place?"
His continuous questions made Mo Shiyan feel a bit helpless. "You asked me so many questions at the same time; which one should I answer first?" he asked back.
Jiang Zihan let out an awkward smile as he subconsciously rubbed his hand against the back of his neck. The suppression patch that he had placed above his scent gland in the morning had disappeared for some reason, though he did not sense any leaks of pheromones.
Mo Shiyan looked around the surroundings and replied, "I lost consciousness after being sucked into the building. When I opened my eyes again, I was already here."
Jiang Zihan nodded in agreement, as that was the same exact thing that happened to him. "And then what happened?"
"When I woke up, I was already wearing these clothes. But I don’t remember myself wearing them, so it might be the power of this illusion. As for how to leave this place, I have an idea already," Mo Shiyan replied as he naturally held onto Jiang Zihan’s hand and led him toward a certain direction.
"You could see through the darkness?"
Mo Shiyan gently shook his head and replied, "If I’m not mistaken, this should just be an illusion that the Vice Principal used to test us. It would most likely show what the person fears most."
Hearing his words, Jiang Zihan suddenly froze in place. Mo Shiyan could not see through the darkness, but he could still feel the sudden tightening of Jiang Zihan’s hand around his.
"Zihan?" Mo Shiyan called out his name.
"Ah... what?" Jiang Zihan asked back, his voice sounding a bit unfocused.
"Are you okay?" Mo Shiyan asked, his voice sounding a bit concerned.
Jiang Zihan forced a smile on his face and replied, "Don’t worry, I’m fine. Let’s hurry and get out of here."
Actually, he did have an understanding that his condition wasn’t right, especially when he thought back to the moment he mistakenly believed that the "Mo Shiyan" he saw was the character from the game. He did somehow panic, though deep in his consciousness, he knew that he wasn’t actually scared to accept the fate of "Jiang Zihan".
It was more like... regret.
Regret that he might not have the chance to witness Mo Shiyan reach a happy ending with his own eyes.
He was so deep in his thoughts that he did not notice the sudden appearance of the light in front of them, breaking through the darkness. He heard Mo Shiyan call out his name, and he looked up and instinctively closed his eyes because of the bright light.
