Chapter 56: Their Seventh Team Member

Mo Shiyan raised an eyebrow when he saw that, and he instantly jumped backward, dodging the attack. The Celestial Bow materialized in his hand; he drew the bowstring to the fullest as an arrow shot straight toward her.

The red glow surrounding the young woman grew brighter. She pressed a hand on the floor when a complicated pattern emerged beneath her feet. Just as Mo Shiyan was still thinking about what it was for, he found that the same pattern had also emerged beneath his feet.

He immediately felt that something wasn’t right and planned to retreat, but it was already too late. His body was unable to move at all because of the force of gravity change. The young woman caught the opportunity and rushed forward, swinging her leg in a vicious kick.

Mo Shiyan immediately activated his magical energy and formed a protective barrier in front of him, blocking her attack. Then he suddenly noticed that while she was attacking, she would have less control over her ability (mostly because she had just awakened).

Taking advantage of that weakness, he leaned his upper body backward to dodge her next strike while he bent his body down and did a side kick toward her legs, causing her to lose her balance. Then he clenched his fist and punched straight toward the young woman’s abdomen.

That punch caused the young woman to stumble backward before she fell to the ground. Mo Shiyan controlled his strength, so although her injury looked serious, she didn’t actually get hurt. The moment she stood back up and steadied herself, a red glow surrounded her again, and she planned another round of attack. However, before she was able to do so, Mo Shiyan shot another arrow toward her, though it stopped a centimeter before her neck this time.

"The outcome has been decided. So... what is your decision this time?" Mo Shiyan asked directly as his bow was still targeting her. However, that didn’t make the young woman feel scared.

What actually shocked her was his gaze—she had seen that look before, but she had never thought that she would be able to see it from a student from Hunter Academy.

The darkness in it— it was as if... he had experienced death countless times. That gaze gave her an instinctive sense of danger, causing her to lower her eyes subconsciously.

"I lost. I admit that you are much stronger than I expected. If the other people in your team are as strong as you are, then maybe you really have the chance to become the champion of this competition," she said calmly. Although she was defeated, there were not really any emotions in her voice.

Those words meant that she had agreed to join them. Mo Shiyan dispersed the arrow that was in front of her, allowing the young woman to stand back up on her feet as she gently brushed the dust off her clothes.

"My name is Su Li. It’s a pleasure to meet you," Su Li said.

Mo Shiyan nodded his head lightly as he responded. "I’m Mo Shiyan. Welcome to the team."

Behind a tree to the right, several figures were poking their heads out one after another, trying to peek at what was happening. Those figures were Jiang Zihan and his team members, as they were worried about Mo Shiyan’s communication with Su Li and pulled Jiang Zihan over with them. They quickly followed behind him, and when they arrived, they noticed that Mo Shiyan and Su Li were having a nice conversation, allowing them to let out a sigh of relief.

"Stop pushing... I can’t see anything," Chen Tianyu complained.

"You’re the one pushing me! And keep your voice down; you’ll give us away," Lin Xingxue whispered as she stretched her neck even further, trying to hear what they were talking about.

"Hiding here and eavesdropping isn’t that good..." Shen Qingyi said with a low and soft voice, though her voice was immediately covered by Chen Tianyu and Lin Xingxue’s voice as they argued.

Just then, the tension continued to rise when Chen Tianyu stood up and accidentally stepped on a stone and stumbled into Lin Xingxue. That triggered a chain reaction that caused them to all fall to the ground with a heavy thud.

At the same time, Jiang Zihan instinctively stepped back a little so he didn’t fall to the floor with them, but no matter what, the noise over here still caught Mo Shiyan and Su Li’s attention.

Seeing the two pairs of eyes staring at them, Chen Tianyu raised his hand while he was lying on the ground and let out an awkward smile. "Hi...?"

Su Li: "...?"

With no other choice, the five of them quickly walked out from behind the tree and introduced themselves to Su Li. Now that all seven members of the team had finally gathered, they decided to go tomorrow and find their teacher to sign up for the Freshmen Showcase Tournament.

When Jiang Zihan was back in his dorm, he immediately pulled Mo Shiyan down onto the sofa. Then he searched through his backpack and took out a card, handing it over to Mo Shiyan.

Mo Shiyan took a look at it before asking, "What is this?"

"Mengyao gave it to me today. She said that it’s an invitation to the auction that’s coming up in ten days, and there would be a lot of equipment being sold at that time," Jiang Zihan explained.

"I was thinking that we could go there to test our luck."

He waited for a while, expecting Mo Shiyan to ask him questions about the auction, but there was no response. He lifted his head and realized that Mo Shiyan was still staring at the invitation, his expression cold and icy.

Jiang Zihan had lived together with Mo Shiyan for a while already, and he could somehow read Mo Shiyan’s mood from his unchanged expressions, but this time, he’s having a hard time understanding what Mo Shiyan meant.
