Hearing this, Jiang Zihan let out a bright smile and replied, "Don’t be so impatient... there’s still one thing that you have forgotten to do~"

"W-What?"

"Stop! Let go of me!!!"

Walking back to the campfire, Jiang Zihan casually tossed the cards in his hand up and down. He let out a sigh and said, "These seniors are so poor. All of the cards added together only add up to 1500 Ice Points."

"They should be one of the weaker teams. It’s okay. Once school officially starts, we’ll have more opportunities to earn enough Ice Points," Mo Shiyan gently comforted him as he handed him an apple.

Jiang Zihan took a bite of the apple and complained. "Interrogating people is so tiring. These kinds of jobs are not for me at all."

"I told you that I could be the one who does it; I could still handle it," Mo Shiyan said gently.

Jiang Zihan shook his head. "You’re injured pretty badly, and should take a nice rest. I can still deal with it."

He froze for a moment before continuing, "Based on what he said, it seems like our performance this time would affect the amount of Ice Points the school is gonna give us once everything’s over. If that’s true, it’s best for us to earn more Ice Points when we can."

"...You mean?"

Jiang Zihan let out a sly smile and rested a hand over Mo Shiyan’s shoulders. "If the seniors could hunt us for Ice Points... then why can’t we hunt them for theirs instead?"

He leaned over, whispering in Mo Shiyan’s ears. "The prey or the predator, who knows their role in this game?"

——

On the other side of the forest, the captain of a senior team was instructing his team members to search for other freshmen.

"Did you see any freshmen heading in that direction?" the captain asked.

One of his team members shook his head and replied, "We have already cleared out all the freshmen in this area. Should we move on to the other training fields?"

The captain thought for a moment and was just about to respond when another team member came running over in a panic. "This is bad! Our teammates on lookout have all been taken down by two freshmen! They’re... they’re charging this way!"

"What?!"

All of them were shocked, but before they could even react, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from deep within the woods.

"Run! They’re right behind us!" A disheveled upperclassman yelled as he stumbled out of the woods, and his school uniform was smeared with mud.

The captain walked up and demanded, "What happened?"

"There are... there are two freshmen..." the student panted, struggling to catch his breath.

"Just two freshmen were able to defeat all of you?" the captain demanded as he frowned.

"They aren’t normal freshmen—"

Before he was able to finish his sentence, an arrow shot past the captain’s cheek, slicing off a lock of his hair. His eyes immediately widened as he subconsciously stepped back a little.

That kind of aura—it doesn’t feel like something a freshman can send out...

The next moment, the sound of footsteps slowly echoed through the silent forest. All of them instinctively looked toward the direction of the sound, including their captain.

Not long later, two figures emerged from behind the trees one after another.

Jiang Zihan was the first one to break the silence. "Were you guys talking about us?" he asked with a bright smile on his face.

Seeing the relaxed expression on his face, the captain slowly drew his weapon, his face darkening. "No matter how strong they act, don’t forget that they’re just freshmen. Don’t let them intimidate you!"

"Everyone, attack together!" another teammate yelled.

The second he finished his sentence, Jiang Zihan had already charged forward at lightning speed. He had been training with Mo Shiyan for months, where his control over magical energy had greatly increased.

Twisting in mid-air, he kicked straight toward his opponent’s face, slamming the man’s head hard to the ground. Then he rushed toward another opponent next to him, where he released a few strands of thread to coil around him, dragging him down to the ground.

On the other side, Mo Shiyan rushed toward another upperclassman. Before he had the chance to activate his ability, Mo Shiyan’s fist already punched toward his face.

Not long after, the whole senior team had lost consciousness, all laying on the ground. Jiang Zihan bent down and searched for their cards. A few minutes later, his eyes lit up as he calculated the total amount of Ice Points they hold.

He stood back up, his arms filled with dozens of cards. He waved a few of them in front of Mo Shiyan and said, "This team seems to be a little richer than the one before."

He handed some of them over to Mo Shiyan, who tucked them into his bag before saying, "Let’s go. We’re moving on to the next team."

The two of them immediately dashed toward another team of upperclassmen, their figures disappearing in the woods.

Meanwhile, another team of upperclassmen was making its way slowly up a hillside.

"Why are we assigned to this training field... I could barely walk anymore," one of them asked, wiping off the sweat rolling down his face.

"Well, there’s nothing we could do about it, as the best training fields were chosen by the First Team and the Fifth Team," another one responded.

"Oh yeah... I have heard that there were several teams that have gone missing," the first student said, frowning a little before continuing, "There were rumors that they were defeated by two incoming freshmen."

"Don’t tell me you actually believed in those rumors, have you?" the other student asked back.

"But—"

Before the first student could finish his sentence, a silvery-white thread suddenly shot out from the forest, wrapping itself tightly around his ankle.

"What the—?!"

The student immediately lost his balance and was pulled down to the floor, hitting hard.
