Chapter 25: Interstellar Ice Hunting Academy Acceptance Letter

Mo Shiyan paid the fare before stepping out of the car. Jiang Zihan was just about to seize the opportunity to open the door on the other side and slip away—

Now is the time to run!

—when Mo Shiyan caught him by the back of his collar again.

"Where are you going?" Mo Shiyan asked coldly.

Jiang Zihan stiffly turned his head and forced a smile on his face before speaking. "I... I just wanted to go to the restroom."

"I’ll bring you the way," Mo Shiyan replied before he pulled him inside.

It’s all over. Jiang Zihan thought in despair.

Mo Shiyan stopped and asked, "...Do I look that scary?"

"Huh?!"

"Never mind..."

In the end, Jiang Zihan was still able to stand safely on the training field after he was pulled back from the restroom.

"Why are you standing so far away?" Mo Shiyan asked as he raised an eyebrow.

Hearing his words, Jiang Zihan hesitated for a moment before walking a little closer... around 2 centimeters...

Mo Shiyan: "..."

Mo Shiyan laughed from his rising anger as he walked over and lowered his head. He leaned so close that his warm breath even brushed against Jiang Zihan’s skin, sending a light tickle across the back of his neck.

His fingers brushed lightly against that piece of skin as he recalled what the doctor said a few days ago when he went to the hospital.

"It was confirmed that you are undergoing a secondary presentation," the doctor said as he walked in with Mo Shiyan’s report in hand.

"Can I go through my rut by using heat suppressants?" Mo Shiyan asked.

The doctor flipped through his report and shook his head. "I can only tell you that it’s most likely not gonna work. Secondary presentation is very difficult to overcome alone, and heat suppressants are generally ineffective. If you force yourself to pass your rut with suppressants, then the next time it comes, it’ll be even harder to control. It’s also bad for your body."

"The best way is to find an Omega and mark him," the doctor suggested.

Mo Shiyan felt silent for a moment before asking, "Does a temporary mark work?"

"If it’s the first time you went into a rut, it might work, but not anymore. Your body has already developed resistance against suppressants, and if your pheromones aren’t soothed properly, they’ll eventually spiral completely out of control."

"Is there... no other way around it?"

"Not for now."

Getting out of his memory, Mo Shiyan’s hand hovered above the back of Jiang Zihan’s neck, though it didn’t actually touch it. Jiang Zihan somehow felt a breeze above his scent gland, causing him to shiver a little, though he didn’t feel anything weird. Instead, the scent of rose coming from Mo Shiyan gave him a sense of security for some reason.

He subconsciously buried himself a little deeper into his embrace.

Mo Shiyan slowly stood back up straight and asked in a low voice. "Have you been feeling... uncomfortable anywhere?"

Jiang Zihan was stunned for a moment before shaking his head. "Not really."

He did think that his body was a little too sensitive these past days, especially whenever Mo Shiyan came close, but that shouldn’t be what Mo Shiyan was asking about.

"Why are you asking?" he asked curiously.

Mo Shiyan gazed into those crystal-clear eyes, so clear that they were even able to reflect his thoughts; he fell silent for a few seconds before letting out a soft smile. "It’s nothing."

——

After they had a fight with each other, Jiang Zihan finally abandoned those unrealistic fears. It’s not really because he thinks that Mo Shiyan would let him live, but because he finally understood how strong he became.

As expected of the game’s only target. His improvement was even faster than I thought, Jiang Zihan thought as he leaned against the wall, breathing heavily.

Just at this time, his phone rang. He pulled it from his pocket and noticed that it was an unfamiliar number.

"Hello?"

"Hello~ Little Zihan. How are you today?" a female voice greeted cheerfully from the other end.

Jiang Zihan frowned a little, feeling a bit uncomfortable being addressed so familiarly by a stranger. "Who are you?"

"I’m Yuxi, don’t you remember? Shiyan should have introduced me already," Gu Yuxi replied.

"You’re... Shiyan’s biological sister? Why are you calling me?" he asked directly.

How was she even able to find my number?

"Shiyan blocked my number, so I couldn’t reach him. Could you do me a favor and hand the phone to him?" she asked with a gentle voice.

"Give me a second..." Jiang Zihan replied as he turned around and wanted to ask Mo Shiyan whether or not he wanted to take the call when he noticed that Mo Shiyan was standing behind him.

Mo Shiyan hurried over when he heard Jiang Zihan’s inner thoughts and knew that Gu Yuxi was bothering him.

He took the phone from Jiang Zihan and replied coldly, "Don’t call me again. And don’t bother Zihan either. Or else I don’t know what I’ll do. After saying so, he hung up the phone and handed it back to Jiang Zihan.

Jiang Zihan had never seen him like this before. Even during his first time seeing him, Mo Shiyan’s expression wasn’t that scary.

"Next time she calls, block the number," Mo Shiyan said at last.

——

After that phone call, Mo Shiyan never mentioned his sister again, and Jiang Zihan didn’t ask about her either.

Time flies by, and in the blink of an eye, a week has passed.

Jiang Zihan sat in front of the computer, his palms becoming sweaty. He opened the admissions website and clicked on his exam results.

The next second, he jumped up from the chair and hugged Mo Shiyan. "I got in! I finally got in!"

The cut-off score for the Interstellar Ice Hunting Academy was 150, and because Jiang Zihan was able to pass the special admissions exam for the school, his cut-off score became 120 instead.
