Jiang Zihan’s heart skipped a beat when he heard that term.

Self-Awakening.

He had come across that term before while reading in the library.

In this world, most people awaken their abilities at the age of 18 through interacting with the energy of the Awakening Stone. Because Awakening Stones are expensive, most students do not have the opportunity to interact with them. As a result, students who are able to gain admission to a Hunter Academy would be provided a free awakening opportunity by the school.

But there are always exceptions in this world. There is a small percentage of people who are able to self-awaken before they reach 18. Self-awakening is a concept that had started appearing in the previous years, and people still don’t know how it happened, but for people who could self-awaken, they would usually hold higher potential than those who relied on the Awakening Stone, allowing those students to be highly welcomed by schools.

"If you’ve self-awakened, then even if your entrance examination score is below the school’s cut-off score, there would still be a high possibility that you’ll get accepted," Mo Shiyan explained.

But... I didn’t..." Jiang Zihan immediately wanted to deny it, but suddenly, something appeared in his mind. He lowered his eyes and slowly reached out; the next moment, a strand of thread appeared above his palm.

That strand of thread was a mysterious thing that had appeared in his mind right after he transmigrated into this world. At first, he was still a bit cautious of it, but nothing had happened over the past few months, so he slowly forgot about it. Now he had realized that it might be his self-awakening ability.

The thread itself was silver, but as it floated in the wind, it reflected the color of purple when catching the light. One end of it hovered above his palm, while the other end stretched straight toward Mo Shiyan, gently coiling itself around his neck.

Jiang Zihan tried to pull it back, but the thread seemed to have its own thoughts and refused to come back. Mo Shiyan felt a bit curious and tentatively touched it with the tip of his fingers; then that strand of thread shivered a little and immediately came back to him.

Jiang Zihan: "...?"

Mo Shiyan lightly chuckled and changed the topic. "Seems like it worked out."

"Self-awakening seems a bit different than I thought. And... How did you know that I have self-awakened?" Jiang Zihan asked.

"Because I have also self-awakened," Mo Shiyan replied as he raised his hand, and a Celestial Bow materialized in his palm.

"The aura of a normal person and the aura of someone who has awakened is a bit different. Ever since the day you carried me to the school infirmary, I have noticed that your aura was different than before, so I assumed that you had already awakened your ability," he continued to explain.

As expected of the only male protagonist of the game. I’m so envious of his ability!!

The little "Jiang Zihan" in Mo Shiyan’s mind was rolling around on the floor in envy.

"So it’s decided. Are we applying for the Interstellar Ice Hunting Academy?" Jiang Zihan asked, the mouse circling around the submit button.

Mo Shiyan nodded and said, "After this, we could start preparing for the academy’s special admissions exam."

——

"Shiyan, we do not have an extra room for you to stay. Would you be willing to share a room with Zihan?" Jiang Zihan’s mother apologized.

Mo Shiyan nodded and said, "I don’t mind at all. Thank you, Auntie."

Mo Shiyan might not mind, but Jiang Zihan does, though his thoughts don’t matter in this house.

That night, after finishing his shower, Jiang Zihan stood beside the bed, looking at Mo Shiyan with awkwardness.

"How about... I sleep on the floor?" he asked tentatively.

"How could I let the owner of the room sleep on the floor?" Mo Shiyan replied, his voice sounding a bit seductive.

"Then... you sleep on the floor?" Jiang Zihan asked in a different way.

Mo Shiyan: "..."

At last, they ended up sleeping together on the bed. Jiang Zihan forced himself to close his eyes and ignore the person next to him. Then suddenly, he felt something warm around his neck, a little itchy. He lowered his head and realized that Mo Shiyan had somehow buried his face on the side of his neck, rubbing his head against him.

Jiang Zihan was stunned for a moment after he tentatively pushed Mo Shiyan’s head to the side. A few minutes later, Mo Shiyan rolled back over.

"Shiyan...? Mo Shiyan...?" He tried to call his name, but it did not work.

Jiang Zihan let out a sigh and could only let it be, turning his head over to the side. He raised his hand, and a silver thread appeared above his palm again.

Ever since it had appeared in the real world, he could loosely understand what his ability was, but because of that, he felt that his ability was totally unbelievable.

Being able to see the future... Does that have anything to do with his transmigration?

A light flickered through his eyes as the silver thread surrounded him.

While thinking, he slowly fell to sleep.

The next day, early in the morning, Jiang Zihan was brought outside by Mo Shiyan. After a half-hour train ride, they finally reached their destination.

"Illusion Arena...?" Jiang Zihan read out the name in front of him. Then he looked toward Mo Shiyan and asked, "Why are you bringing me here?"

"Although you have already awakened your ability, you still need to learn how to control it. The exam for self-awakening students also includes a combat against other awakened students, so practice is a must," Mo Shiyan explained as he walked inside.

Jiang Zihan could only follow along.

The receptionist was originally playing on her phone when Mo Shiyan knocked on the table. She immediately stood straight and greeted them with a professional smile. "Good morning, gentlemen. How may I help you?"
