Chapter 599: A step

Hearing those words from Harbinger definitely interested Michael.

A skill? What kind?

[Kuku…it’s the kind that can use my power. Aubility power. Here. Let me show you.]

The giant figure of Harbinger moved its two mechanical hands. He saw the lights on its ‘veins’ start to pulsate, as if it was ramping up with power.

And even though this was his own void in the recesses of his own mind, he felt as if he was in a different world, one that Harbinger controlled. The power that he was emanating was potent enough to make him believe that he was seeing it in real life.

Suddenly, reality began to warp around Harbinger’s wrists.

Nanoparticles gathered around the back of his elbows, creating a large rocketship nozzle.

A bright orange light began to emanate from the nozzle before a blue jet stream of fire exploded outwards into a controlled manner.

Harbinger’s arms became powered like a spaceship!

This added thrust allowed reality to wrap even further, as if it was folding up upon itself in an attempt to counteract the massive force coming from Harbinger’s arms.

Lights pulsated, growing in brightness as the power continued to grow.

The shrill sound coming from the hands became higher and higher pitched as if a beam was about to fire any second.

And finally, Harbinger took his hands together and ripped the very fabric of space apart.

In an instant, his body disappeared.

Michael looked around, before finding Harbinger already behind him. The rockets on the back of its elbows had already powered down and returned to its normal state.

He looked up at Harbinger’s head shrouded in a dark fog, surprise written all over his face.

I couldn’t see that at all. There was no magic involved!

He would know. His control over mana and magic was second to none. So he was sure that the sudden ‘teleportation’ that Harbinger performed was not made through a magic spell or mana in any shape or form.

It reminded him of Aubilities! But strangely, it seemed a little bit different from all the other Aubilities he had seen before.

All the Aubilites he had seen had something to do with a power or an item. And in all cases, the strange power, or Aubility Power, came from the outside, as if the person was throwing it to the real world. That was how it affected reality.

But this seemed different. It was as if the Aubility Power was stored inside Harbinger and affected only his own body, allowing his physicality to be altered the same way that reality was altered.

[That is what we call a Quantum Step], Harbinger explained. [This is what you shall do to stand head and shoulders above others.]

Michael was very much intrigued. Judging by how fast that movement was, it could very well be the speed he needed to surprise other Maugnetics.

As of now, his only offensive capabilities were the [Unity Gun], and his newly discovered [Unity Saber].

His gun was good, but it needed a lot of time to reload and attack again. However, the Unity Saber could be used just like another weapon and could be considered as a devastating power that could hurt even high-leveled Maugnetics.

Okay, how do I do that, Harbinger?

He was ready to pick up a pen and paper and start jotting down the notes that Harbinger was about to give him. He was the student while his Diva was the teacher.

[Kukuku! It’s easy. You just have to use your Aubility Power on your wrists and pull!]

His excited face immediately turned downwards.

What kind of explanation was that?! It’s like telling someone to go to the bank without giving them the address!

[Hm? Like I said, just gather your Aubility Power in your hands, and use them to tap into the quantum realm. Then, just hop right into the tunnel and you’re good to go. I don’t see what’s so hard about that.]

He sighed. Up to this point, Harbinger had been talking to him like a real human that he almost mistook him for being one.

He was a Diva, which meant that its sense of reality was extremely different from other humans. Harbinger may be a part of himself, but that didn’t make him human.

[I cannot teach you any more than this. You’ll have to learn it on your own.]

He just had to accept that fact. He just had to do trial and error until he found the correct way to do that ‘Quantum Step’ or whatever.

He then opened his eyes, returning back to reality.

Harbinger said to use my Aubility Power and gather it in my wrists.

Of course, that was easier said than done. He didn’t have the mechanical body that Harbinger had, he didn’t have the nanoparticles that allowed him to create thrusters on the back of his elbow. He just had a normal human body, and he’d just have to adapt to that.

He took a deep breath and tried to make contact with the GodForge pieces in his heart.

His muscles tensed, his breath stopped, but no matter how much he tried to force the Aubility Power out of his heart, nothing worked.

How am I able to use my Aubility Power anyway?

Reaching down his pockets, he took out a single switch for him to use.

After kicking a tree next to him, leaves suddenly floated out down towards him.

And with a flick, the switch attached itself to a falling leaf and completely stopped its momentum. It was now frozen in time.

How does my Aubility Power work?

He concentrated again, trying to feel the power coming from the GodForge pieces on his heart and onto the switch. There had to be an invisible connection between the two that allowed it to alter reality based on his powers.

Again, he found no luck. He only felt a vague sensation that made him feel connected with the switch.

This time, he took out the reverse graphite block from his pockets and threw it down towards the pile of fallen leaves.

Suddenly, a few leaves began to float up towards the tree, tracing back their original path, with their momentum completely reversed.

He put his focus on the reverse graphite block, trying to discern a difference between it and the switch.

I do feel a slight difference, but it’s very hard to point out.

It was as if the connection between him and his technology blocks were made out of a cloud that became a lot fuzzier the more he tried to concentrate on it.

He spent a good few minutes studying the two, trying to tell them apart.

If he wanted to learn how to do that ‘Quantum Step’, then he needed to figure out how Aubility Power worked inside a Maugnetic’s body. It was the key.

As he concentrated, he suddenly remembered something.

Wait! I could use that.

It only just now came to him that the new upgrade for his Drone came with a really cool feature.

It allowed him to see Aubilities through a certain lens, making it seem like he was looking through a thermal imaging scan!
