Chapter 598: Game start
Chapter 598: Game start
Michael found himself in the middle of a forest, with a golden flag staked on the ground right in front of him.
The flag had the symbol of Reborn, with a simple ’R’ letter made out of black ink and gold linings.
It was big, being at 10 feet tall and towered over a normal human easily. So, it was easy to spot from very far away. And not only that, but there was some kind of glow within the flag that made it look unnatural within its surroundings, making it stand out even more.
Guess you can’t hide this thing. You have to protect it.
Upon inspecting the flag, he found that it was filled with some kind of magic that allowed it to restore itself to its original state once it was damaged.
This way, flags wouldn’t get destroyed during intense fights for its possession.
He quickly put the flag on his back, ensuring its safety.
The first thing I need to do is to group up with the Legacies.
Alaric told them that he would be sending a signal to the skies as soon as he landed on the Pocket Dimension.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t see any signals in the sky at all.
Did something happen?
Either way, without that signal, he wouldn’t be able to meet up with the rest of the Legacies for now, meaning he had to protect his flag alone.
[You don’t even need to protect the flag. Kukuku…Let the other players come to you]
He didn’t know why, but Harbinger always seemed to be out for blood.
Ignoring his Diva, he decided to have a look at his surroundings and assess the situation before moving away from his spot.
Of course, this was where his Drone came in extremely handy.
He reached down his pockets and took out the rectangular block and unfolded its propellers.
This was now the time for the upgrade.
He closed his eyes and focused on the Drone’s system.
Immediately, he saw a 3D slightly transparent image of the Drone right in front of his very eyes. Each part of the Drone could be highlighted to show the possibilities for its upgrade.
He manipulated the projection to show the 360 degree camera installed on the very bottom of the frame.
Once he did, a window popped up in his vision.
[Shared Vision: This upgrade allows the Drone Glasses to become more transparent. This will lessen the burden of the software into your consciousness, allowing you to pilot the Drone even if you are in your own body.
The Drone’s camera will also experience a huge upgrade. Its image quality will be clear enough to see through disturbances that a Diva and an Aubility will make in reality before they are fully activated.]
[Cost: 2 drops]
He immediately purchased the upgrade and suddenly, he saw two liquid drops falling into the Drone and being absorbed instantly.
Then, the Drone’s frame started to morph and change, with nanoparticles starting to grow new parts on the camera to upgrade its features.
It wasn’t long before the Drone’s new camera system was in place and ready to use.
He opened his eyes and inspected the upgrade.
The camera at the bottom was a lot more compact, yet with much clearer quality and more lenses layered through the glasses.
Of course, that wasn’t just the only thing that had changed.
He quickly pushed on the recessed button on the side of the frame, and suddenly, a small drawer popped out of the Drone’s side.
It revealed the Drone’s camera glasses.
And this feature was the biggest change.
The original glasses were blacked out entirely, and had an extremely big surface area that covered almost a quarter of his face. It was more like a visor than spectacles.
But now, the glasses were a lot slimmer, both in the frame and in the visor.
The glass itself was now transparent and was now a lot smaller, resembling modern aviator glasses.
He quickly picked it up and put it on his head.
Immediately, he saw a system window pop up in front of him.
{Entering Shared Vision with the Drone…}
As soon as it was done, he suddenly saw an entirely new vision in his mind.
He saw what the Drone was seeing and he was seeing his own perspective at the same time!
It wasn’t a split screen, where he saw half of each vision. It also wasn’t a pop up window, like a mini-map from those video games he played.
It was unexplainable in human terms because he could see both visions simultaneously without one interfering with the other.
He looked at his own hands, and saw himself flexing his fingers. And at the same time, he piloted the Drone to fly up right in front of him, performing a few backflips in the meanwhile.
He wasn’t able to do that back then!
Amazing. This is a worthwhile upgrade indeed.
Seeing this substantial change made him want to see what more upgrades he could make with the camera
[Vision]
—Camera
——Drone Vision ><
——Shared Vision ><
——Maugnetic Vision
[Maugnetic Vision: This upgrade allows the Drone to scan a target and see through their Diva’s cultivation and their Aubilities.]
[Cost: 3 drops]
Hmm…that could be useful, but I don’t want to spend my last three drops on it for now. Harbinger, what upgrade should I choose? The stealth or the mini drone?
[Of course it should be the mini-drone! Having another eye in the sky will be extremely useful in this environment. We can hunt more Maugnetics!]
He could only shake his head. Where does it get all that confidence? Doesn’t it know that his opponents were literally at the top of the Body Formation realm?
It’s not so much as hunting them, rather than hiding from them.
[Pshh… you don’t need to do that. I told you. We have to seek out more powerful people in order to improve!]
Michael wasn’t convinced. Pursuing stealth seemed like the best option for now, given how much the other players knew about the Drone already.
Not only that, but they presumably had better physical stats than him, so they could more than likely dodge away from a [Unity Gun] when they see it. But if the Drone was hidden in stealth while it powered up a shot, then he had a better chance of hitting his target.
[Our Unity Gun is not enough. Those Maugnetics may be frauds, but they have cultivated enough to have their bodies and minds sensitive to their surroundings.]
This utterly confused Michael. So you mean that my [Unity Gun] has no effect on them? Why did you even have me go to this game if I’m going to lose anyway?
[I did not say they had no effect on them. It’s just that they are powerful enough to dodge it.]
What Harbinger was trying to say was that any upgrade he did on the Drone wouldn’t be enough to lessen the disparity between his and his opponents’ strengths.
Then what do you want me to do? he asked, exasperated.
[Kukuku…you have one advantage over all of them. And that is me. I am a real Diva, not soulless like those frauds.
While they are spending hours, months, years trying to communicate and decipher the signals that their Divas are saying, I can just tell it to you.
I can teach you a skill.]
