Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1210: New species

Chapter 1210: New species

Michael continued to look at the pictures the Shadow Orcs got him. And there, in plain view, were demi-humans looking up at the skies as the light of the sun hit them thanks to the chasm.

"We’ve tried to get a better view, but they were quite defensive. Even our Shadow Orcs couldn’t get in one foot across the threshold without risking getting caught. We figured that we need to wait for your approval before we truly try and break into this place," said Sasuki.

Demi-humans living underground. It wasn’t that much of a surprise.

Although the discrimination of demi-humans were outlawed, there were still some traces of them left in society. It couldn’t be helped. There would always be opinions that couldn’t be changed.

Michael guessed that these demi-humans had once been part of the world, but found that they were not accepted into their place. So, they made their own.

Of course, the opposite could be true as well. They could have all been originally living underground and was now only getting acquainted with the overworld.

But seeing as the demi-humans in these pictures wore tattered modern clothes, he guessed that they had only recently taken refuge underground.

"We weren’t the only ones who discovered them," said Narito. "The humans were the first to discover them. They were trying to inspect the chasm to see if building a bridge was feasible. But before they could finish, they were shot down with arrows."

They gave him another set of pictures. This time, it was of bright red furred creatures.

Red Mankeys.

Michael hadn’t seen their kind at all. He’d seen Yellow Mankeys. He’s seen Blue Mankeys. But never the red ones.

He knew only of their existence thanks to the other Mankey species having records about each other. They always talked about the three major tribes. The Mankeys whose fur coincided with the primary colors.

In fact, he’d even heard about the Red Mankeys existing in an unknown village that had never yet been discovered by any humans. Michael had been searching for them all this time. Could they be the ones he was looking for? Were they not in any maps because they were underground?

Michael focused on the Red Mankeys in the picture.

Their most prominent features were the grease lines on their faces. Like guerilla warriors, complete with the band over their heads.

They had crude weapons by their sides. Spears made out of wood, hemp, and stone. Primitive axes. Bows.

Unlike the other demi-humans in the picture, these Red Mankeys looked to be completely native to the underground.

Michael was curious to learn more about these new Mankeys.

After all, the Yellow Mankeys proved to be talented in construction, engineering, and other jobs like that. The Blue Mankeys were talented in entertainment. Some were orators, some were singers, musicians, theater actors, and such.

These were all talents that seemed tied to their very species itself.

So, what would the Red Mankeys talent be?

That wasn’t the only thing that he was interested in. After all, Mankeys were not the only ones living in that underground civilization. There were Komodos as well.

Now, Michael knew that the Komodos weren’t all talented as a species. The Dragonborn siblings came in with their other tribe and family members, but not all of them gained the same irreverent talent as they did.

However, there was a good chance that they could also advance their evolution to be a Dragonborn. It was a small chance, but a chance nonetheless.

"Keep surveillance on them," he told the Orc Chieftains. "But don’t cross any of their boundaries. It looks like they don’t really want to interact with the outside world. We’ll only be lowering our chances of cooperation with them if we do that. It’ll be best if we walk down to their doors and talk face to face."

He intended to visit them soon. But not now. Especially not when the Dragonborns were still in the middle of their evolution. He’d have a better chance of getting them under their side if they saw the Dragonborns in their full glory.

"As you wish, Lord Michael."

...

...

...

Michael returned to the training area and still saw Zion playing around with his new Dragon body.

But this time, there were two of them.

"HAHAHA! YOU CANNOT BEAT ME, YOUNG’ ONE!"

Both of these Dragons had red scales. One had a slender body, sleek. One could even say that this Dragon was beautiful by normal standards. Even his movements matched that regality and beauty. The Dragon gracefully moved his wings to make sure it didn’t bother anyone around him, while also flaunting the membranous wings around.

Meanwhile, the other red Dragon looked completely crude. He was a little bit bigger. Skin and scales were a lot more rougher, spikier.

And his movements could be comparable to a little child just learning how to walk. His every movement caused the ground to shake, every tail wag destroying something around him.

The beautiful dragon was Infernus. While the other was Zion.

"Urgh... just you wait.... I’ll–I’ll learn how to fly too!"

"Tsk, tsk, tsk..." Infernus clicked his tongue. "Such crude actions. No beauty in them at all. How are you even a dragon?"

Michael arrived just as Infernus landed onto the ground with a graceful thud.

"Oh, Michael. You’re here. You didn’t tell me that you had another Draconian in your midst."

Just as he was about to explain, Zion interjected. "I’m not a Draconian! I’m a Dragonborn!"

Infernus looked at him, confused. A swirl of fire erupted from the bottom of his feet all the way to the top of his head, obscuring his entire body.

Then with a gust of wind, the fire disappeared, leaving behind Infernus in his human form.

"What... what do you mean by that?"

"He’s a Dragonborn. You saw them before."

Infernus narrowed his eyes and looked back at the fumbling Dragon behind him. "You mean to tell me... he’s... he’s one of them? The one who could..."

The young Draconian’s throat bobbed up and down as he remembered that Ancient Roar.

"I don’t believe it," he said. "Hey you! Turn back so I can see your true form."

Zion turned to him, raising his wings. "I don’t know how!"

Infernus’ jaw dropped. "What do you mean you don’t know? Do you also not know how to open your eyes? How to breathe?!"

Michael then interjected. "It’s true. He’s only obtained this kind of power just a few minutes ago. It’s part of his evolution."

And it was at that moment that Infernus stepped back, as if Michael had just said something that was truly insane.

"Evolve?! But that’s just a myth!"

Michael shrugged. "Nah. The Dragonborns are evolved from Komodos. And just recently, they also evolved to their next phase. Though, I have no idea what they’d become. I don’t even know if Zion could return back to his normal form.

In fact, that’s why I wanted to talk to you. I was hoping that you could help Zion."

It would be greatly inefficient if the Dragonborns turned out to only have their Dragon forms. They’d be intimidating, for sure, but that would mean Michael would have to build a conference room as big as a colosseum just to fit them in one space.

And it was also too horrifying to think about Sheina barking down orders with her dragon form.

"How would I know?!" the young Draconian complained. "I’ve never even heard of a successful evolution, much less something like this! I knew there was something wrong with that Dragon!"

Infernus then told Michael about the differences that Zion had compared to other Draconians.

As it turned out, A Draconian’s dragon form was quite sleeker and more refined compared to Zion’s form. They were also smaller, at least, for the younger ones. One would have to grow a lot older before they grew to the size Zion was now.

There were a lot of other subtle differences too. Like having different bone structures. Different bone density. Differently placed organs, and other such things.

It truly looked like Zion was a whole different species himself.

"His heart too... it’s different. His Draconian Spirit is in the wrong place."

Draconian Spirit was what they called Aubility Power for them.

"There’s another chamber," Infernus said, confused. "I don’t know what that is."

Michael observed Zion too and noticed the discrepancy. Now that it’s been pointed out, he saw the unknown chamber in the Dragonborn’s heart. It was like seeing that a human had another liquid flowing through his veins other than blood.

This would have been a point of worry for him, but thankfully, it seemed to be empty now. It was benign.

"Can you try and tutor him on how to control his powers," he asked.

Infernus shrugged. "I’ll try. But that kid is just so devoid of beauty that I don’t really see the point in training."

"Thanks—"

But just as he was about to say those words, he heard another notification come through from his Unity Clones.

The eggs were showing signs of movement!
