Chapter 1040 No negotiations
Chapter 1040 No negotiations
The dapper man sat down on the couch opposite Castelle. Michael, Yuna, and Sheina stood away from the two, letting them have the face-to-face confrontation that Castelle needed.
The dapper man put his hand on his chest. “First of all, let me apologize. I admit that I used my Aubility Power to manipulate the circumstances to our advantage. But that is only because I was desperate.
See, my superiors didn’t believe that the automobile would be as game-changing as it would be. I believed differently. When I saw it for the first time, my instincts told me that this is going to revolutionize the entire global transport industry. My superiors didn’t want to send anyone during our first meeting. But since I knew of its potential, I took it upon myself to try and secure the automobiles for our company. Even if I had to use my Aubility Power to do so. And for that, I am sorry.”
Castelle listened to the dapper man with a careful eye. And eventually, she shook her head.
“Don’t pretend,” she said. “I’m sure what you said at first was true. But you could have easily negotiated a better deal for the automobiles using a discounted price. Instead, you chose for an exclusive contract that had your company monopolizing our automobiles.”
The dapper man stayed silent, his eyebrow slightly raised. There was a hint of surprise and curiosity at Castelle. It was faint, but he could feel the presence of a formidable opponent in his midst. One that could contend even in the Upper Echelons.
“That is right. But as I’m sure you’ll learn—this is just how business goes. You have to go for the throat, or else you’ll fall behind.”
Castelle’s eyes’ twitched. “Then you I’m sure you’ll understand why you’ll understand why I will do you with the same courtesy.
If you want to purchase the automobile, then I’m afraid that the price has gone up to twice its normal amount. 200,000 Sand Dollars.”
The dapper man started. “200?! Isn’t that too much?!”
She nodded. “Price increases as the demand skyrockets. I’m sure you know that.”
“120,000,” the dapper man countered. “And we’ll pay it up front and give your company exclusive rights to our signature items from the Upper Echelon.”
Castelle crossed her arms and remained adamant. “No.”
“With this price, no one sane will buy your automobiles! We certainly won’t. 150,000, last offer!”
But the dapper man’s argument had no ground to stand on.
“Whether you buy it or not, we do not care. There are other companies willing to purchase it at that price.”
The dapper man knew that the Reborn company would increase the price, but he at least thought that he’d be able to negotiate a discount. That was his specialty in the game of negotiations. But as it stood, Castelle had no intentions of playing the game at all!
“So? Will you purchase it or not? The more you delay, the higher our prices will increase.”
The dapper man tensed for a few moments, before he finally relented.
“Haaa… fine. You win,” he said, releasing all his pent up tensions. “You’re quite ruthless, you know that?”
Castelle smiled, holding back the urge to pump her fists.
“Pleasure doing business with you,” she said.
The dapper man shook hands with Castelle, still exasperated. “I fear the guys that come after me,” he said.
And just like that, a purchase of 10 Damascus Automobile Trucks were purchased at a price of 200,000 Sand Dollars!
He had to limit the purchase to only 10 units simply because he expected the other Upper Echelons to also purchase their own automobiles. If there were 50 companies in total, then that meant that he’d have to produce another 500 units. And that was his current limit.
At least, until they finished the factory.
“Next representative, please come forward!”
Castelle spent the entire day dealing with the Upper Echelons expertly, giving them no leeway to negotiate. They lost that right the moment they disrespected the Reborn company.
And in the end, they complied and didn’t put up much of a fight. They agreed to pay double the original price. The dapper man was treated as an example, a precedent to what would happen if they treated the Rebor company lightly. If they did, then they’d have to pay much more than the premium price Castelle set.
Castelle sold 762 units in total, with the extra 262 coming from the local Lower Echelon companies in New Sparta. They couldn’t buy 10 units like the Upper Echelons, so they had to make do with one or two units.
Of course, many more expressed interest in buying automobiles. But they simply couldn’t afford to spend 200,000 Sand Dollars.
Luckily for them, Michael and Castelle planned on lowering the price back to 100,000 in the future. The only reason they raised it in the first place was because of its rising demand.
Once they set up the factory, they’d be able to meet the demand and lower the price to something achievable.
The only downside in waiting that long was that they’d get left behind in the great automobile expansion. While they waited, the Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons would only widen the gap between the elites and the commoners.
But at the end of the day, the only true winner was Reborn.
Michael and his group looked down at a grand total of 152,400,000 Sand Dollars!
Now, they were once again going into the territory of ‘stupid’ money. Rich to the point where he didn’t even know where to spend it.
But at least now, he wouldn’t have to worry when the Shadow Orcs needed more GodForge pieces.
“Great work, Castelle!”
“It was nothing, Young Master. I’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to managing a company. I will become better,” she said, bowing.
Sheina and Yuna both commended Castelle and told her that she should be more confident of herself. The only reason why they achieved such good results today was because of her.
“Young Master, I think it’s time for us to execute the next step of our plans. The gas stations.”
The wondrous and near miraculous usage of the automobiles would only work for as long as they had gas. The Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons would soon know that.
And they had to capitalize on that. So, the very next day, the Shadow Orcs once again found themselves with a new construction job.
“Another one boss? We’ll be glad to do it but to be honest, we feel bad, bu to to,” said Narito.
“Why?”
“Well, our Orcs aren’t exactly the brightest of bulbs. Very simple instructions will take them hours to understand, much to the dismay of our Mankey Engineer teachers. We can feel them getting a bit frustrated at times,” Sasuki answered.
Unfortunately, the Shadow Orcs simply weren’t that talented when it came to construction. They lacked even the commonest of senses when it came to engineering and those kinds of jobs.
The Mankey Engineers must have felt like they were talking to actual monkeys… well, the unevolved species, to be exact.
Unfortunately, this was what they had to work with.
So, the Shadow Orcs underwent another job. Since the automobile factory and the gas stations were considered top priority within the company, Castelle deployed a lot of the workers there to hasten the job. According to estimates, it would only take a few days before the whole thing was complete!
And as the Orcs began to dig out the foundation and pour out the concrete, the people of New Sparta began to notice.
What was that weird grey liquid that they were using?

Meanwhile, as the days passed, the Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons began their expansions. They used their new automobiles to speed across the Royal Continent at top speeds, making mounts and carriages obsolete.
And of course, the first one to set up their businesses were the Conglomerates.
Over the next few days, commoners and spectators alike wondered as magicians and Maugnetics displayed their unique powers to build gigantic structures inside New Sparta.
The Conglomerates, by virtue of their position, were able to carve out their own space in this beastfolk-only region. And they made sure to make themselves known.
The Vanderbilts basically created an entire castle out of thin air.
This was supposed to be impossible, but with their endless resources, nothing was.
They employed all supernatural-powered people to speed up their construction progress by mere days.
All of this was happening at the same time that the Reborn company was creating their factory.
Now this… this was no coincidence, it seemed. The Rebornians were getting a lot of notoriety with their automobiles. And not only that, but their recent project was turning a lot of heads. They were now getting a reputation of having tremendous inventions, and it seemed that this grey liquid would be one as well.
But of course, the Conglomerates couldn’t let that happen.
Gabriel’s father certainly didn’t.
“We must show them. If they don’t ally with the Vanderbilts, they’ll only get swallowed up like the others. It is inevitable.”
