Chapter 1033 Blue collar Orcs
Chapter 1033 Blue collar Orcs
Michael felt a little bit bad for Jot’un. According to Jasper, the guy was busy scaling perilous volcanic mountains and desolate deserts in order to get stronger. It looked like his father was preparing for him to become his successor. But knowing Jot’un, the guy would be happy, but complain about it the entire way.
Actually, scratch that. He felt bad for the trainer he had with him.
Should I send him some goodies? Some ice cream perhaps…
Anyway, after receiving 6 tons of GodForge pieces, he thanked Jasper for his help and went back to deliver 3000 kilograms of GodForge pieces for the Shadow Orc Chieftains to use. They only needed 1600 kilos, but it was better if they had extra since they were the ones most likely to advance.
He found the Orcs right in the middle of their new construction job.
In the outskirts of Metropolis, many people watched as the spectacle of nearly a thousand Orcs lined up wearing hard hats, shovels, and pick axes.
Their conspicuous presence attracted a lot of onlookers, especially because of the huge signage written right next to their work station.
{Road to New Sparta: Ongoing}
Many were delighted by this new announcement. They saw first-hand the convenience of the highway and relished the fact that they could possibly travel to New Sparta in a day or less.
He walked over towards the Orcs, who were quite gloomy so early in the morning. They were so sad that their shadows were starting to overpower the light of the sun itself.
“Boss… do we really have to do this… bu to to…”
“It’s so hot out here. I feel vulnerable,” an Orc said, shivering.
Michael patted him on the back, making sure not to get pricked by his quill.
“Come on, it’s not that bad, right? You got a lot of spectators watching you.”
The Orc looked back at the entrance of Metropolis, seeing a large group of people watching them with great interest. The crowd was so full that even the parapets were filled to the brim.
“What’s so great about being seen, boss? I like to be in the shadows more…”
Just then, a scream echoed out from the crowd.
“Kyaaa! Those Orcs look so manly and cool!”
“I never knew they could be so handsome!”
“Right?! I’m starting a fan club, right now!”
The Shadow Orcs froze after hearing those words. Then, they rolled up their sleeves and showed off their muscles in full view.
“Tsh. It’s just construction. Let’s do this boys! RAH TA TA!” The other Orcs screamed in unison, their muscles flexing even more as the screams of fangirls rose from the spectators.
Michael inwardly shook his head. Was the male ego really that easy to persuade?
“Boss Michael!”
Kong, their Yellow Mankey Chief Engineer approached him.
“All is set, boss. I have some of our engineers here to help with the construction. They’ll teach their ways to the Orcs.”
Yellow Mankeys surrounded the Orcs, giving them pointers, showing them how to mix the concrete, all that stuff. The Orcs seem to be getting, although it may be more because of the Mankeys’ easy-to-understand instructions rather than the Orcs’ comprehensive abilities.
Either way, the work soon started.
The Shadow Orcs then closed their eyes, a shadowy figure appearing above their heads.
Aubility Power seeped out of their body, manifesting as threads of tenebrous shadows.
Their Shadows seethed through the ground like a tidal wave, turning the entire patch of ground in front of them into a sea of darkness.
And then, the Orcs started their chants, screaming bu to tos and rah ta tas.
The sea of shadows parted like a biblical event, only leaving behind a ditch a few meters deep.
The dug-up soil was nowhere to be seen, seemingly transmuted into a shadow that dispersed upon direct contact with the light.
With the help of the Mankey engineers, the Orcs installed the metal bars for the road’s foundation. Using their Diva, they were able to manipulate the steel rods as if it was made out of clay. By imbuing the material with their own shadows, they could do whatever they wanted!
This was the benefit of using a Maugnetic for construction. They could literally rewrite reality itself!
There was no need for a clean-up and completely negated the need for logistics.
The Yellow Mankeys were full of awe as they witnessed Maugnetics for the first time. Their eyes couldn’t help but gleam with desire and yearning.
“Wow boss… I never knew that Maugnetics could do that,” Kong said. But unlike the other Mankey engineers, Kong looked at the Shadow Orcs with more of an analytical view. “That reality-altering skill is amazing, but I can see that there’s a lot of room for improvement. It’s still inefficient.”
Michael looked at Kong with an amused gaze. Kong actually saw the underlying issue.
“Yeah. But that’s to be expected. The Shadow Orcs were never meant to be construction workers,” he replied to Kong.
However inefficient, they were still faster than normal mortal construction workers. So, they had no choice but to deploy them as blue-collar workers.
“Huh…,” Kong muttered in deep thought.
“Anyway, what about the railway? How is that going?”
He turned to Kong, but the Mankey still seemed to be in a ruminative state. He had to wave his hand to get his attention.
“Oh, sorry about that, boss. Right. Let’s visit the train station.”
They traveled to the other side of the Metropolitan wall, where there was already a pair of railways that connected downwards into the Lower Queens region and into the Kings region.
There was even a returning train coming from Angora City.
TOOT! TOOT!
As the train came to a stop, he saw lots of tourists exiting to the station wearing commemorative roller coaster t-shirts and hats on their bodies. They seemed to have a good time in the Nation of Reborn, judging from the smiles on their faces.
And then, he saw something interesting.
Someone was carrying a box with the symbol of a red ‘T’
That was the symbol for McTony’s!
