Reborn As A Villainous Cannon Fodder

Chapter 556 556: Ch 556- Today’s Concerns, Tomorrow’s Inner Demon

“Come to think of it, I was also snatched up the mountain by Senior Sister on an enrollment day,” Yino said with a faint smile.

Yuyan glanced at him, her beautiful eyes filled with a flood of memories. As they flew over the crowd, Yino deliberately slowed his sword. Doing so allowed him to overhear the waves of gasps and praise coming from the people below.

“Look, look! That beauty sister must be the Wuji Sect’s top sword prodigy, Senior Yuyan!”

“The young man flying with her looks like the head disciple she recruited personally from the He mansion a year ago!”

“The He mansion? Do you mean the one in Luo City?”

“Which other He mansion could it be? In the entire Great Dragon Dynasty, is there any other family that dares call themselves the He mansion?”

“But I heard the seventh young master of the He family was a total playboy… How did he become such a handsome, elegant young man with the air of an immortal? He actually looks like a match for senior Yuyan.”

“Ha! That just shows how well our number one sword master, Senior Sister Yuyan, teaches!”

“If she can turn a piece of trash like him into such a refined man, won’t we have an even better future if we join the Wuji Sect?”

“Hey! That makes sense!”

With his hands behind his back, Yino stood atop his flying sword and listened to the discussions below. He had been quite happy to hear the praise, but when he heard the phrase “piece of trash,” the smug look on his face couldn’t help but twitch.

Beside him, Yuyan, dressed in her long white gown, had naturally heard the comments as well. She glanced at Yino and couldn’t stop herself from pursing her lips. “It seems the people have very sharp eyes,” she teased with a smile.

Yino wasn’t about to back down. With a scoff, he replied, “After this past year on Ranmo Peak, it’s hard to say who was really disciplining whom.”

The moment those words left his mouth, the white-clad beauty’s face turned bright red. On second thought, Yino wasn’t wrong. He had never actually been a playboy; it was just an act. Therefore, Yuyan hadn’t actually reformed him. Instead, it was Yuyan who had changed significantly over the past year. Her personality was no longer so isolated, and her body was no longer so cold after being disciplined by Yino. Even her swordsmanship and cultivation had grown largely thanks to Yino’s companionship.

In the past, Yuyan could never have imagined that she would one day be so full of desire, actively riding a man with such wanton passion. But looking back, everything seemed perfectly logical now that Yino had changed her.

“Indeed, my husband is truly capable. You even managed to discipline the revered Senior Sister into the state i was in last night…” Yuyan thought about it, but her pride made her blush. With a slight pout, she offered a somewhat sarcastic compliment.

Yino raised an eyebrow. “If you’re going to talk like that, I might just have to take advantage of you in public. Let the Wuji Sect disciples see what their Senior looks like when she’s shy.”

“If Husband truly wishes to show me off to the world, I am naturally willing to cooperate for your happiness…” Yuyan didn’t refuse. With a slight blush on her face, she stared straight ahead and spoke with a feigned calm. She seemed completely submissive to Yino, yet her words still carried a hint of her reluctant, cold temperament. Truthfully, Yuyan didn’t like the idea of the public discussing her private life. Her private self was for Yino’s eyes only.

“Forget it. I don’t want to be too much of a show-off in the cultivation world for now.” Yino understood her meaning. Besides, he was mostly just talking big.

Yuyan glanced at him from the corner of her eye. With a faint, relieved smile, she asked, “If you don’t want to for now… then when do you plan to marry me and go public with our relationship?” She wasn’t truly angry, as she knew that while Yino was a bit of a pervert, he wasn’t a frivolous man.

“If Senior doesn’t mind, we can return to the He mansion in a couple of days to arrange the wedding,” Yino said, looking ahead.

“In a couple of days?” Yuyan’s eyes widened in surprise.

Yino looked back at her. “When we were in Luo City, you met the elders of my family. They all gave you their full approval. No one in the mansion will oppose this marriage. So, everything is fine on my end. It just depends on when we have time to go back to Luo City to host the ceremony.”

“Then… I’ll tell master about our marriage later…” This time, Yuyan’s cold voice was clearly tinged with nervousness.

As they spoke of patriarch Mu Daosheng, certain memories from his past life flooded back into Yino’s mind.

Regarding the massacre of the Mo mansion years ago, Mu Daosheng was a close friend of Yuyan’s father. He must know something, and it almost certainly involves the Heaven-Defying Pavilion or the Divine Gate. However, that old man’s lips are sealed tight. Even in the game, he never revealed the mystery of Yuyan’s background to the protagonist, Chen Jianxin, even after she fell into Qi Deviation.

Thinking of this, Yino couldn’t help but curl his lip inwardly. “Until the mystery of the Mo mansion is solved, I won’t have peace even after marrying you.” He didn’t keep this thought to himself but spoke it directly to Yuyan.

Upon hearing this, Yuyan’s face first showed shock, which was quickly replaced by a wave of suppressed emotion. But Yino quickly continued. “Senior, once we’re back at Ranmo Peak, why don’t you take out that chess manual your father left you? I’ll study and try to crack the code with you.”

“Is… is that okay?” Yuyan’s eyes widened again, filled with unexpected joy.

Actually, after agreeing to marry into the He mansion, Yuyan had slightly let go of her resentment toward those who killed her clan. Or rather, she didn’t want to show it to Yino’s family so soon. If she became a daughter-in-law of the He mansion, she shouldn’t bring her family’s misfortune upon them. Otherwise, the elders wouldn’t welcome a woman with such a cursed past. Because of this, Yuyan hadn’t mentioned the matter to Yino for a long time. She assumed Yino wouldn’t want to bother with such an old grudge or that he had forgotten it entirely.

To her surprise, even after nearly a year, Yino was still keeping her concerns on his schedule. It proved that he didn’t just crave her body alone; he truly cared about everything involving her.

“Why not?” Yino shrugged as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “I already said I would marry you. Once you pass through those doors, you’ll be my bride. My wife’s family matters are my matters. How could I let my wife continue to suffer through nightmares every night because of something that happened ten years ago? If the grudge of your family’s massacre isn’t settled, it will remain a hidden danger for an Inner Demon. I can’t let my wife’s cultivation be hindered by such a thing.”

….

Wuji Peak, Patriarch’s Pavilion.

“Father, I heard that Yuyan and Yino returned safely today.”

“Father, why do you look so troubled…”

Mu Daosheng sat at a long table, gazing into the distance. Beside him, a curvaceous woman in a black dress knelt to pour tea.

“Just yesterday, the Divine Gate decided to issue a kill order for Yino across the entire realm.”

“Yino is now the National Advisor’s disciple. He has a powerful protector and can afford to ignore the Divine Gate, but Yuyan doesn’t have such backing. If he continues to offend the Divine Gate like this, I fear I won’t be able to protect Yuyan from the danger that follows.”
