Reborn As A Maid
Chapter 224 - The Demon Warlord Vs Jennie ( Part 2 )
The battlefield was torn to pieces.
Seraiya had turned into a complete mess.
Hundreds and thousands of demons poured through black gates opened in different places of the kingdom. Their voices mixed with the shouts of soldiers and citizens of Seraiya. Structures shook because of the power of spells and their walls cracked. Thick black smoke rose to the sky, while colorful flashes of red, blue and gold lit up the early morning sky.
The air was filled with the scent of blood, ash, fear and rage. Screaming was heard everywhere – some people screaming, some creatures howling, all desperately.
In the middle of all this mess, two figures were standing.
Jennie.
Draven.
The Third Demon General watched her with a grin. His crimson eyes glowed under his helmet of horns, while his huge body seemed to darken the whole sky. He looked slightly amused, as if everything happening around him was not connected with him at all.
As if this whole invasion was organized only for this one purpose.
Her.
Jennie clenched her fist around Excalibur. The golden blade pulsed in her hand, glowing bright and giving out warmth, fighting with shadows approaching her.
"You came to Seraiya only to see me?"
Draven laughed. The sound was deep and rumbling, as if hundreds of boulders fell to the ground in the depths of the mountains.
"Not only to see you."
He took his weapon from behind his back. His move was long and slow, every second of which was enjoyed by this demon.
Jennie’s eyes narrowed.
Some huge weapon appeared.
KRRRKKK.
Metal grated against metal. The sound was rough and grating, like the dying shout of some ancient creature.
Draven drew his weapon.
A huge black battle axe appeared in his hands. The weapon was almost the same height as Jennie herself, having the double-bladed head and jagged edges. This weapon was made of a mysterious dark metal that absorbed the sunlight, while its blades were marked with bright crimson marks, pulsating faintly like veins.
The axe was radiating with power. It was not only a weapon but also a presence, the power of destruction materialized.
Draven placed his massive weapon on his shoulder. The ground under his feet cracked because of its weight.
"This."
He smiled. His teeth shone bright and sharp in contrast with his dark skin.
"Is what I came here for."
Jennie looked at the axe. Her expression did not change but her eyes were sharp.
"Subtle."
Draven laughed.
Then he vanished.
Jennie’s eyes widened.
He was fast. Far too fast for the owner of such an axe to have a right to run so quickly. Air screamed when he moved, while the ground cracked under his feet.
The weapon was swinging down.
Jennie immediately raised her Excalibur.
CLAAAAANG!
The clash exploded.
Shockwave rushed through the battlefield. Stones broken by the clash under Jennie’s feet, while dust and debris scattered in deadly storm. Several soldiers standing nearby lost balance and fell to the ground with clattering of armor.
Jennie’s arms trembled. Physical power of the blow was amazing, overwhelming, crushing, absolute.
Draven pressed down even harder. His crimson eyes were burning with anticipation.
Jennie’s boots were sinking into the cracked stones.
"You’re stronger than before," she whispered between her teeth.
Draven grinned. "And you’re still trying to estimate me."
He started to swing the axe to the side. The blade was slicing the air with the roar of the thunder.
Jennie ducked. The blade sliced over her head, ruffling the silver hair of the girl. Only the force of the blow was able to break the stone wall standing nearby and sending the rubble to the streets.
Jennie immediately attacked in reply.
"Leviathan."
The blue light exploded near the girl. The Blade of Oceans appeared in her hand, glowing with the power of the endless depths. She started to swing.
Giant waves erupted from the blade and rushed to Draven. The water roared like some living thing, the top of the waves towering over the structures.
Draven planted himself firmly on the ground. He raised his axe.
The black weapon sliced the coming water. Wave was split in two parts and crashed helplessly to the left and right.
For a short time, Jennie was surprised. He was able to destroy the attack of Leviathan with only brute force.
But she was not finished yet.
The moment the wave split in two, Jennie disappeared.
Tempest.
Lightning enwrapped the girl. The Blade of Storms crackled with power, while her speed increased incredibly.
She accelerated.
Draven barely had enough time to turn.
Jennie appeared beside him.
Her blade struck his armor.
BOOM!
Draven was sent sliding along the battlefield. His boots were leaving deep furrows on the stones, while dust was rising around him in the cloud.
Jennie attacked him instantly. Lightning after lightning. Blow after blow. Each of Draven’s blows created a shockwave which ripped through the streets.
Jennie was moving between them. At one moment she was in front of him. At the next – behind him. Then – above him. And then – beside him.
Tempest transformed the girl into the streak of lightning – the blur of silver and gold which was dancing around the blows of the Black Warlord.
Draven narrowed his eyes. "Fast."
Jennie smiled. "You noticed?"
She disappeared again.
This time, darkness was covering the battlefield.
Eclipse.
The Blade of Shadows filled the ground with black fog. It was rising up like water, swallowing everything around. The light dimmed, while the noise of the battle became muffled.
Draven stopped. His eyes scoured the darkness.
No footsteps. No breathing. No movements.
Then the voice of Jennie echoed from behind him.
"Too slow."
Draven turned around.
Eclipse struck.
SLASH!
The cut appeared on his armor. Black blood was dripping to the ground, sizzling on the stones.
Draven looked at it. His smile disappeared.
Jennie appeared from the shadows. But she was not stopped there.
"Gram."
Fourth sword appeared in her hand. The Blade of Wrath was radiating the immense destructive power, the blade was pulsating with contained rage, covered with bright crimson color.
Jennie was swinging.
Draven blocked the swing with his axe.
BOOOOOOM!
The impact cracked the ground under them. The arms of the Black Warlord were trembling, while for the first time, he was pushed back.
Step by step. One by one.
Jennie continued moving. Gram smashed onto the axe once more. Once more and yet once more.
Finally, Draven managed to take a foothold. Stopping her attacks.
Jennie leaped backwards.
Now five Divine Swords glowed around her.
Excalibur. Leviathan. Tempest. Eclipse. Gram.
The lights of all five of them blended creating a corona of energy which lit up the battlefield.
Draven looked at them. His expression became serious.
"It seems that the rumors weren’t a lie."
"Rumors?" Jennie spun the sword before grabbing its hilt once more. "Which rumors?"
"That you’ve synced with five Divine Swords."
Draven’s gaze moved from one blade to another analyzing their power.
"Rosario village, I took you for just a ghost of the past."
Jennie’s expression hardened. " The Ghost that will end your life ."
Draven smiled. "Go on believing that."
"I don’t have to."
Jennie raised the sword. "I will do that."
Draven didn’t say anything for a while.
He just smiled. "Maybe."
"And maybe not."
Draven raised his axe. "Let’s find that out."

In the meantime, at the Royal Palace
Lilia stood on the palace ground.
Aurelia rested in her hands. The Blade of Light shined under the red sky, sending golden lights which drove back the darkness which threatened the palace walls.
All around her, Royal Guards battled desperately trying to defend the palace. Their swords clashed with demon claws and their shouts intermingled with demons’ roars.
But Lilia wasn’t looking at them.
Her eyes were focused on the distant battlefield. Jennie was fighting Draven.
Despite the distance, Lilia could feel the monstrous power clashing in there. With each hit, the battlefield shook and each shockwave made windows rattle.
Lilia’s fingers tightened their grip on Aurelia. "Jennie..."
She wanted to run to her. All of her instincts demanded her to rush to the battlefield to help the girl she loved.
But she couldn’t.
She was the Queen of Seraiya. There were thousands of people within the city and if she left her place, demons would easily reach them.
Lilia took a slow breath.
Then she felt it.
A weird presence.
Behind her.
Lilia turned. "There is nothing."
Her eyes narrowed. "Show yourself."
Silence.
And then a voice rang through the courtyard.
"Are you searching for somebody?"
Lilia’s expression hardened.
The black mist formed near the palace gates. From the darkness of it, two figures emerged.
One of them was a beautiful woman with long dark hair and elegant smile. Her violet-black robe flowed like a shadow around her body while her golden eyes shined with maliciousness of the ages.
Another was tall man with an almost emotionless expression. His silver mask reflected the crimson light, his figure was flickering around the edges like a smoke.
Lilia recognized them immediately.
"Morgatha."
Her eyes moved to another figure.
"Lokiar."
The two Demon Generals smiled.
Morgatha bowed slightly. "Your Majesty."
Lilia raised Aurelia. Golden lights started shining from the blade, lighting up the courtyard.
"You are far from your regular battlefield."
Lokiar gave a faint smile. "We aren’t interested in your soldiers."
Lilia’s expression changed.
Morgatha took one step forward. "We aren’t coming here to conquer Seraiya."
She pointed at Lilia. "We came here to see you."
The atmosphere changed. Air became heavy, full of killing intent.
Lilia understood. This invasion had been prepared. Draven had come for Jennie. And Morgatha and Lokiar came for her.
They were splitting them.
Lilia tightened her grip on Aurelia. "If you came here for me..."
Golden lights erupted from the sword, burning like a second sun driving back the darkness.
"... then come out and show yourself."
Lokiar smiled. "As you wish, Your Majesty."
And he disappeared.
Lilia immediately started swinging Aurelia.
BOOM!
Golden slash cut through the courtyard, leaving a deep furrow in the stone.
Lokiar appeared behind her. He blocked her attack with his sword of shadow.
Their weapons clashed, sending sparks flying.
Lilia pushed him backwards. "Illusion magic."
Lokiar smiled. "Very well."
Lilia turned.
Morgatha was already standing behind her. Black magical symbols appeared beneath Lilia’s feet, twisting like live snakes.
Lilia widened her eyes. She jumped.
Black curse erupted where she was standing before. The palace courtyard cracked, and stones turned into black color.
Lilia landed several meters away.
Morgatha smiled. "It seems that you have become much stronger since the last time we’ve met ."
Lilia raised Aurelia. "The same is about you."
"No."
Morgatha’s smile became colder.
"I simply stopped holding back ."
Throughout the whole Seraiya, the battlefield was divided into two parts.
On the one, Jennie was fighting with Draven. The Black Warlord. Five Divine Swords were surrounding her, shining with the light.
At the Royal Palace, Lilia was facing Morgatha and Lokiar. The Queen of Seraiya was standing alone, wielding Aurelia in her hands.
But she wasn’t afraid.
She couldn’t afford to.
Jennie needed time. Seraiya needed protection.
And Lilia would give both.
Draven charged at her once more. Swinging the axe.
Jennie blocked it with Excalibur.
CLANG!
Shock wave tore apart the battlefield.
Jennie slid backwards.
Draven followed. Another swing. Jennie blocked. Another. She dodged.
The axe landed to the ground.
BOOM!
Entire street cracked.
Jennie leaped over the attack.
Tempest activated. Lightning appeared around her. She accelerated.
Draven swung upwards.
Jennie vanished.
Eclipse activated. Darkness spread.
Draven turned around.
But it was too late.
Leviathan attacked him from the side. Torrent of the water exploded.
Draven was thrown through the building. It collapsed on him.
Jennie landed. She breathed deeply.
"Still standing?"
Rubble moved.
Draven emerged. He was wounded, his armor was damaged and blood was running down his face.
But he was smiling.
"Now that’s more like it."
Jennie’s expression became serious.
Draven raised his axe. "Five swords."
He looked at her. "Five abilities."
Demonic energy of his started gathering. The air around him was shimmering.
"But you are still holding back."
Jennie froze. "What?"
Draven’s smile grew wider. "Do you really think that I was fighting seriously?"
The air suddenly became heavy.
The battlefield fell into silence.
Even demons were frozen.
The wind died. Flames stopped flickering. Dust was floating in the air.
Jennie’s instincts started screaming. Something was wrong.
Draven lowered his axe.
Then his demonic aura exploded.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
Dark energy burst out from his body and shot towards the sky in a column of darkness, devouring the crimson clouds above.
The earth underneath him cracked.
Cracks formed throughout the battlefield.
His horns lengthened. Dark symbols formed all over his body, like living tattoos. He was growing under the armor and exuded power.
The immense axe too was going through changes. It was growing bigger. Crimson symbols ignited on its surface, glowing with unholy light. The axe emitted a demonic aura that shook the very air itself.
Jennie instinctively wielded her sword Excalibur.
For the first time since the fight began, she wasn’t smiling.
She looked at Draven.
And realized.
He was just toying with her.
Draven placed the immense axe on his shoulders. The red eyes were glowing like twin suns.
"Enough warm-up."
The five Divine Swords of Jennie began vibrating, their lights brightening up due to the danger that surrounded them.
Draven smiled.
"Right..."
His demonic aura shot upwards and tore apart the clouds, casting an eerie black and red light on the battlefield.
"...now let’s have a proper battle."
Jennie tightened her grip on Excalibur. Her golden eyes met his crimson ones.
The battle was far from over.
