Chapter 780: Sometimes Rain Falls From The Eyes Part 2
Chapter 780: Sometimes Rain Falls From The Eyes Part 2
“To think some law of this small world wishes to harm my mother. Do you think I would let you do such a thing?” The young man sneered as he waved his hand. The heavenly lightning beast suddenly roared out in pain and disappeared into a rain of sparks. The clouds in the sky rumbled as if angered, but with another wave of his hand, the clouds disappeared, revealing the light blue sky.
Kana, who had all her attention focused on trying to subdue the lightning in her body, had no idea what was going on or how close she had just come to death. She was already struggling from the pain and chaotic nature of the tribulation lightning. It was tearing her apart from the inside out.
Devan looked at his mother and frowned. He really did not know why she would undergo so much suffering. But he could see the benefit of her being able to make the tribulation lightning her own. A warm smile formed on his lips as she knelt down and reached out with his pale finger and placed it on Kana’s stomach. He released some of his power and allowed it to merge into Kana, taking it and following what Kana was doing so it would not harm her and help her control the tribulation lightning, allowing her to bring it all into her dantian.
He then sat in front of her with his finger on his stomach, gazing at Kana’s face, his eyes soft and warm. He had never felt this way before until now. That feeling of wishing he could be by her side. To be able to show his filial piety to the woman who had given birth to him. He knew that the old man who had visited Kana before had done something. He had woken him from his slumber and allowed him to know when his mother was in such grave danger that her life would be taken. Otherwise, he would not have been able to come out.
He sat for hours and days while Kana refined the tribulation lightning. He could only last for a week at most before he would need to retreat back inside Kana and rest to regain his strength, so he was doing everything he could to help her succeed in refining the tribulation lightning. Once he returned, he would slowly regain his strength using a fraction of the spiritual qi Kana was taking in during her cultivation to turn it into death element and once she left this world he could use her death element directly. This seemed to be something else the old man gifted him. He wished he could have thanked the old man for his help. Otherwise, he would not have been able to save his mother just now.
On the sixth day, Kana finally succeeded in refining the tribulation lightning. It not only strengthened her body tenfold but also her meridians that her spiritual qi flowed through. “You have succeeded….”
Kana’s eyes shot up upon hearing the unfamiliar voice, and looked at the young man who was sitting in front of her with a soft smile on his face. Just seeing this young man, her entire being froze. Tears began to well up in her eyes and rained down. She did not know why she was crying but seeing this young man made her heart hurt. As if she was forgetting something and regretting something all at the same time. Her bottom lip quivered as she tried to speak, but when her mouth opened, no words came out.
Devan’s eyes also turned red. He knew his mother did not know him, but he could tell from how she was acting that deep down, she could feel their connection. For now, for him, this was enough. “Congratulations on subduing the tribulation lightning.”
“You… who… Do I know you?” Kana asked while reaching out with her hand to try to touch the young man’s face. But before she did, she quickly retracted it, not understanding why she would be so bold to someone she just met.
Devan smiled and did not answer her question. He knew now was not the time. He had to wait until she remembered on her own. “In due time…. Now that you are safe, I will return.” After saying this, he reached out and poked Kana’s forehead, causing her to fall asleep. Only then did he turn back into a black fog and return inside her body. He needed to rest. He used too much energy to help her subdue the tribulation lightning.
Kana had no time to react before darkness consumed her, and she fell asleep. Tears still rained down from her eyes. She didn’t even realize that she mumbled two words as she drifted off. “My son….”
Up in the sky, the sect master, Elder Ning, and Lord Yong all stared at the situation in shock and also understanding. Although they were far away, with their cultivation, they could hear everything and even received a message from the young man. “Do not mention anything about the young man. He asked us not to say anything that we heard. There must be a reason for it.”
“Sect master is right. We will keep this between the three of us.” Lord Yong agreed. Elder Ning also nodded. Things that dealt with Kana were of the utmost secrecy. He knew this well.
What all of them did not realize was a single person standing not far from where Kana was, his eyes red, tears rolled down his cheeks. “My son…. You truly are a wonderful son.”
Criege never thought he would get to see his first born son. The first child he had with Kana. The child he had to give away in hopes of protecting him. But now, seeing how he had somehow merged with Kana, he couldn’t stop his emotions. His hand trembled as he reached out toward Devan when he was standing so close yet so far. But he did not dare disturb the two. Creige felt slightly depressed. He knew his son knew he was there but did not even spare him a glance. “I will find a way to revive him. There must be a way. But I first need to gain strength.”
Creige had now given himself a new goal. A goal to bring back his son.
