Chapter 730: Mission Pavilion Part 3
Kana nodded. “Mmm… I know some nice girl over by the board already told me, but I am pretty sure I will be fine.”
Kana understood that the old man was worried for her safety. She never thought there the sect would have so many nice people. She had met many who were generally nice to her despite how she looked and what she has done.
The old man looked at Kana and felt it was a pity that someone so young was about to go off to their death. According to the sect rules, he could stop her. It was up to him to allow her to take the mission or not. Usually, missions like this were normally taken in large teams, and the contribution points were split up due to how dangerous the mission was. So to see someone take the mission by themselves was actually unheard of.
“Let her take it.” A voice came from behind Kana. Both Kana and the old man turned to see Elder Ning standing there.
“Elder Ning? You know this task is difficult even for some of the elders, right?” The old man reminded. The wind king ape was close to being a divine beasts and was very fast even though it towered over most trees.
“It’s fine if it is her.” Elder Ning would be following after her anyway, protecting her from the dark. With how an elder devil cultivator is trying to kill Kana, the sect master had appointed him as her guard. If she was on the verge of death, he would be there to save her, even if he would be affected by her death element.
The old man behind the desk looked at Elder Ning and sighed. He wondered what crime a cute girl like the one in front of him did to anger Elder Ning, who was usually full of justice. He could only give the girl a pitied look. “Okay, show me your sect token.”
“Mmm….” Kana showed him her token. He tapped it a few times with his finger, and it lit up before dimming once more.
“You will need to bring back the head as proof of your mission completion.” The old man said as he passed back the token. He sighed as he added: “You are still young, so it’s fine if you do not complete the mission if you find out it’s too hard for you.”
Kana smiled and nodded her head. “I will. Thank you.”
“Kana, the trip to the Mofu mountain range will take about two weeks. It is to the east of here. You will need to take the teleport gates to Maryd city to get to the spot that is closest to the mountains, which will cost you ten high grade spirit stones. I will give them to you now. Just be careful of demonic beasts within the forest. I believe they are much more dangerous than the wind king ape. The demonic beasts’ poisons can end your life in a matter of seconds if you are not able to keep it from spreading.” Elder Ning said as he tossed Kana a ring. “That spatial ring has the spiritual stones in it. Refine it and you can keep the ring as part of your reward for the previous mission. As for the contribution points, I will add them when you return.”
“Okay, then I will be off then.” Elder Ning nodded and watched as Kana left. He was about to follow when the old man behind the counter stopped him.
“Elder Ning, I do not know what that girl did to anger you, but you should really let bygones be bygones. She seems like a good girl.” The old man said in Kana’s defense. He truly did not wish to see the girl run off to her death.
“Haha…” Elder Ning laughed as he transmitted a message to the old man. “Out of everyone in this sect, only that girl can not die. If you will excuse me, I have guard duty.”
The old man watched as Elder Ning ran off in the same direction as Kana. Only then did he understand. “I see. So that was the girl the sect master was talking about. No wonder…. At least it’s good she will be protected from the shadows.”
An hour later, in Ming Xiafan’s courtyard. “Is what you say is true? That Kana girl has left the sect and is protected by Elder Ning?”
“Senior Brother, I saw it with my own eyes. Elder Ning even gave her a spatial ring with high grade spirit stones in it. She took the wind king ape mission.” The young man standing in front of Ming Xiafan reported.
“What!? The wind king ape!? That is a suicide mission!” Ming Xiafan was truly stunned. None of the top ten would ever dare take that mission. Just getting to the wind king ape was dangerous enough, never mind trying to fight such a monster. “I must see this with my own eyes. If she is truly able to defeat the wind king ape alone, I will personally hand my ranking spot to her.”
Ming Xiafan was no fool. Anyone who could kill the wind king ape alone was stronger than anyone in the outer sect and even in the inner sect. Maybe only the top core disciple could take down such a beast.
What he did not expect was as soon as he reached the sects gates to head to the nearest teleporter, he ran into the holders of the other top ranks of the elite board. “Senior brothers and sisters, are you here to watch the show?”
“Why else would we be here. I also saw some of our seniors from the inner sect heading off to watch as well. That little girl is well known throughout the entire sect now. Word of her killing Daun Shinjian and also taking on such a mission spread far and wide. We can only join in on the fun and see just how strong our sect’s rising star truly is.” The young man who spoke was named Qiao Song. The young master of the Qiao family and their next heir.
“Then let’s go together!”
