Chapter 721: Loyalty
Chapter 721: Loyalty
Kana knew she would now need to look on the higher planes for her past life’s memories. But she also now had a huge backing in the mortal realm. If there were more kings and queens with powerful demonic beasts under them, it would make it easier for her to fight over resources in the future. Right now, her current self did not need a lot of resources to reach a higher rank. Her current progress was not too bad. But she would need to hunker down and really cultivate soon once she returned to the sect. She wanted to do what was called closed door cultivation, where she would lock herself in a room and cultivate for months, even years at a time.
“By the way, Your Holiness, why were you exploring the cave?” Queen asked.
“We are searching for frost dew grass. We need quite a bit of it.” Kana had almost forgotten their mission if not for Queen’s reminder.
“Is that so? Frost dew grass….” Queen thought for a moment before turning to one of the arachne and ordering it: “Take squad b down to the wolf caves and tell the leader you are only there to collect the frost dew grass. Tell him that Her Holiness has returned and is in need of this herb.”
“Yes, my Queen.” Then arachne humbly took the order and bowed to both Queen and Kana before turning around and shouting out orders to the other arachne.
Seeing how organized the arachne were really surprised, Kana. “You still train them in a militaristic style?”
“Yes, so we can be ready for the day you return. I trained them so we would be ready for battle at any time.” Queen replied.
“I see…” Kana fell into thought and looked at the other arachne who were keeping guard like soldiers and nodded her head. “I have no need for a military at this time, but in the future, I may need to call on you for help.” For some reason, Kana was feeling like she was setting a flag. She just hoped the strange feeling deep inside her would not come to fruition.
Kana spent the day talking with Queen. Nana and the others also began to warm up to her after realizing that she meant them no harm. This also seemed to make Queen happy as she began answering questions about the past that the others came up with.
The group talked well into the night. When Kana went to go to sleep, she found a spot far from the group and laid down near a rock to prop herself upon. “Your Holiness?”
“Yes?” Kana looked up to see Queen looking at her with tears in her eyes. “Queen, what’s wrong!?”
“I just remembered that even before you ascended, you used to do the same thing. You would stay far away from others when sleeping in order to not allow your power to consume them. To think even in this new life, Your Holiness will still have to endure such loneliness.” Queen replied while wiping her tears.
“Even if that is the case, I am not truly alone.” Kana scratched her head as she waved Queen closer. Queen knelt down and sat next to Kana, waiting to hear what Kana had to say.
“I am not sure if you will be able to understand this or even remember what I tell you after I say it, but I was not reincarnated on this world, and this is not my first reincarnation. I actually came to this world and got stuck here on accident. I might seem alone, but I am truly not. I have a loving family waiting for me to reach a place called the sea of stars. This world we are on and the planes that it houses is nothing but a small speck in a place where realms upon realms exist on a much greater scale.
“To be honest, you would not have even met me if it was not for the stupid old man who is so powerful he could create whole universes if he so chose to do so. I have had a long journey so far to make it to this point. But although my true powers are sealed on this planet, my goal is not to stay on this world but to leave and reach the sea of stars to see my handsome husband and my beautiful babies.” Kana fell quiet as she stared at the stars in the sky. She found it strange how a world filled with multiple planes would have so many stars in the sky as if those other planes did not exist.
“I am not sure what you mean by planet, universe, or sea of stars, but it seems Your Holiness has been through a lot.” Queen wondered just how many things Kana had truly seen.
Kana smiled and reached up and patted Queen’s head. She did not know why but she felt closer to Queen than anyone else on this planet besides Ako. “Let’s hope your life and your kin’s lives can stay peaceful from now on and far into the future. War is not something anyone should want. We will be leaving tomorrow to head back to the sect. I will be sure to try to stop in again when I am in the area.”
Queen lowered her head. After so long, she had finally found Her Holiness, but now she was going to leave once again. This was the fate of the kings and queens. “Please do return. I had fun speaking with Your Holiness. I wish to speak much more with you in the future as well.”
“Then before I go to another area, I will be sure to stop in….” Kana’s eyes grew heavy as she fell asleep. Her head tilting towards Queen, falling to rest on her shoulder.
Queen looked at Kana’s peaceful sleeping face and smiled. “Her Holiness is just as kind as she was in the past. She cared so much for those she saw as her kin. I will do my everything to help you accomplish your goals while you are still on this lower plane, and after you ascend, I will stay guard here until my time is up and I need to pass the role on to a new Queen. But I promise my kind will always wait until the day your next reincarnation appears once more, even if it takes millions of years to happen.”
