Lin Ruoxi came to her senses. Her eyes crinkled with a smile as she stuck out her tongue and licked Xue Rui’s palm.

"Spit it out. Stop dawdling," Xue Rui said into the phone while stroking Lin Ruoxi’s head.

’Qiu Mengze must be truly panicking,’ he thought. ’Bringing up Gu Muxue in front of Lin Ruoxi of all people. Good thing I’m straddling both boats just fine.’

Hearing Xue Rui’s voice, Qiu Mengze instantly understood. Xue Rui had been listening in the whole time and was now deliberately rubbing their relationship in his face to annoy him!

But he needed a favor from Xue Rui, so he composed himself and asked, "Xue Rui, Qin Tong has been gone for days. She added Gu Muxue on QQ. Can you have Gu Muxue ask her where she is?"

Xue Rui chuckled. "So, are you hoping I can reach her? Or that I can’t?"

If they reached her, it would mean Qin Tong was simply ignoring Qiu Mengze. If they couldn’t, it would mean something had happened to her.

Xue Rui and Qiu Mengze on the other end of the line were both stunned.

Xue Rui laughed. "How would you find her? You don’t even know Qin Tong."

"Through QQ. I can use Qiu Mengze’s account to voice call that girl..." Lin Ruoxi explained.

Qiu Mengze cut in, "The call won’t go through. If it did, why would I be asking Xue Rui for help?"

"She doesn’t need to answer the call. Just pressing the call button establishes a connection. The specific packet header in the UDP protocol..." Lin Ruoxi stated her idea calmly.

’I’m suddenly feeling a little drowsy, like I want to go back to sleep,’ Xue Rui thought. ’Why is Lin Ruoxi suddenly giving a lecture?’

Xue Rui sighed. "Xixi, say something us mortals can understand."

Lin Ruoxi bit her lip. "I can grab her IP address and find her approximate location."

Lin Ruoxi smiled faintly. Her password was similar to Qiu Mengze’s, only hers started with "xr" and had a few special characters at the end.

Xue Rui’s password was the initials of his name plus his birthday, which she’d figured out from watching him use her computer occasionally.

Lin Ruoxi tilted her head and thought for a moment. ’I know Xue Rui’s password, but he doesn’t know mine. That’s not fair.’

She wanted to tell Xue Rui her QQ password.

Tilting her head, Lin Ruoxi held her phone up to Xue Rui and asked, "Rui, ’qt’ stands for Qin Tong, but what does ’5201314’ mean?"

"I love you for a lifetime," Xue Rui answered instinctively.

After saying it, he gave Lin Ruoxi a strange look. ’This girl is extremely online. How could she not know such a simple numeric code?’

Lin Ruoxi said with a beaming smile, "I love you for a lifetime, too."

Xue Rui was stunned. ’The little one actually tricked me into saying sweet nothings to her.’

"Xixi, you’ve gotten sneaky." Xue Rui reached out, pressing his thumb and index finger together. He blew a breath of air on them, pretending he was about to flick Lin Ruoxi on the head.

"Heehee, but I’ve always been a bad girl," Lin Ruoxi said with a laugh, leaning her head forward.

Xue Rui flicked the little one’s head gently. "Only a simp’s password would be this pathetic."

He had been the same way when he was younger, using Gu Muxue’s name in his passwords.

Lin Ruoxi thought for a moment. ’By his definition, I’m a ’simp’ too,’ she mused. But she didn’t mind. Xue Rui always called her his little puppy, and she was born in the year of the dog anyway.

Watching Lin Ruoxi open her laptop and start to work, Xue Rui threatened her lightly, "Xixi, do you know you’re breaking cybersecurity laws?"

With her head down, Lin Ruoxi said softly, "I know, but it’s not a big deal. I’m just looking for someone."

Xue Rui shook his head. "Simps don’t deserve sympathy."

Lin Ruoxi’s back was to Xue Rui. Hearing his words, the corners of her mouth drooped slightly. She didn’t know why, but she couldn’t help but think of herself.

Xue Rui shot up. He stood behind Lin Ruoxi, staring at the screen. ’It’s only been a few minutes and she already found her?’ he thought.

Lin Ruoxi opened an online map and entered the coordinates. A red dot appeared in the center of the screen, just a few streets away from them.

"It’s roughly in this area." Lin Ruoxi extended a slender finger and drew a circle on the computer screen.

Xue Rui took the mouse and glanced at the nearby buildings. A cold smirk appeared on his lips.

’That whole area is clustered with hotels. What is a girl like Qin Tong doing in a place like this during the National Day holiday instead of being at home?’

"Can you pinpoint the location?" Xue Rui asked curiously.

Lin Ruoxi thought for a moment. "She’s connected to Wi-Fi. I have her public IP, so I can try to hack the router. Hotels usually have one Wi-Fi network per room..."

Xue Rui’s heart skipped a beat. ’Wouldn’t that expose the room number?’

’This is fucking terrifying!’

’Thank god, thank god the little one is so accommodating. If someone as petty as that other girl got ahold of this kind of tech, I’d have to live under surveillance for the rest of my life.’

"Xixi, you can’t do anything bad. If you go in, I’ll be very sad," Xue Rui said earnestly.

"Mhm!" Lin Ruoxi nodded emphatically. She turned, wrapped her arms around Xue Rui’s waist, and buried her face in his stomach.

Xue Rui stroked Lin Ruoxi’s head. "Tell Qiu Mengze your skills aren’t good enough and you can’t find her."

Xue Rui didn’t let Lin Ruoxi investigate any further. There was no need to waste the little one’s time on someone like Qin Tong.

"Hmm, why?" Lin Ruoxi asked curiously.

"Ignorance is bliss."

Xue Rui didn’t think Qiu Mengze needed to know the truth. He thought about finding something to occupy Qiu Mengze’s time, like handing over some of the campus operations work. It would distract him and put some spare cash in his pocket for chasing girls...

After all, once a man has money, his heart tends to become more... charitable. He just can’t help but want to take care of a few more homeless little girls.

"Rui, you go wash up. I’ll go help Muxue with breakfast," Lin Ruoxi said, rushing to the kitchen.

Xue Rui slowly slipped on his slippers. Since Lin Ruoxi was going, he decided not to. Breakfast didn’t require that many people. He figured it would be best if he could sit between the two of them during the meal.

He’d have to get Gu Muxue to sit on his left, though. That girl was left-handed, so if she sat on his left, they wouldn’t end up bumping elbows.

Xue Rui deliberately dawdled while brushing his teeth. He was waiting for Lin Ruoxi to call him to eat. Going out any earlier would just earn him an eye-roll from that girl.

"Breakfast is ready!"
