Chapter 564: Whose Fault Do You Think It Is?

She walked up to Xue Rui and forcefully shoved him against the door with a dull THUD.

Gu Muxue stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his without hesitation.

Xue Rui instinctively threw his hands up, afraid the chocolate covering them would stain her clothes. His heart was pounding. ‘Did Gu Muxue just pin me against the wall?’

Once he recovered from his shock, Xue Rui no longer held back. He forcefully took back some of the chocolate cream for himself…

Gu Muxue closed her eyes and held Xue Rui tightly. She wanted him to remember her taste, to be different from Lin Ruoxi’s, which was why she had taken a bite of chocolate cake beforehand.

Xue Rui felt an unbearable itch in his heart. Gu Muxue was only wearing a thin set of pajamas. ‘She tastes like cream today,’ he thought.

After some time, Gu Muxue felt a certain change in Xue Rui’s body. Blushing, she took a step back, poked his arm, and said:

“Xiaorui, you don’t owe me anything. I’m the one who burned your hand and gave you that scar. Let’s just call this me paying you back.”

A warmth spread through Xue Rui’s chest. ‘Even though she loves to tease me, she’s not a girl who likes to take advantage of others.’

Xue Rui decided to press his advantage. He reached out, tapped Gu Muxue’s red lips, and said, “That’s not fair. You got a bigger bite of the cake just now.”

“Fine, you can have it!” Gu Muxue, cheeks puffed out in a pout, found the leftover cream cake. After squishing it in her hand, she aggressively smeared several streaks across Xue Rui’s face, then threw open the door and kicked him out.

The door slammed shut, followed by the sound of the lock turning on the other side.

Xue Rui gave a wry smile. He’d brought a tent with him. ‘So, where am I sleeping tonight?’

CLATTER!

The sound of something hitting the floor came from Lin Ruoxi’s room. Xue Rui quickly went over to check.

Lin Ruoxi’s door was still wide open, and he saw she even had her headphones on backward.

‘It’s obvious,’ he thought. ‘Lin Ruoxi left her door wide open just so she could eavesdrop.’

‘And the headphones? Just for show.’

“Xixi, what were you just doing?” Xue Rui asked with a smile.

Lin Ruoxi lowered her head, letting her hair fall over her face. In a small voice, she said, “Eaves… eavesdropping.”

“Try to be a little more subtle next time,” Xue Rui said with a laugh. ‘She’ll never change.’

“Okay!” Relieved, Lin Ruoxi looked up and gave Xue Rui a sweet smile, then noticed all the cream on his face.

“Can you get me a tissue? This cream is a pain to wash off,” Xue Rui said with a smile.

He’d been to countless birthday parties and knew that you had to wipe most of the cream off with a tissue first. Otherwise, washing it would only make a bigger mess.

Lin Ruoxi slowly walked up to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, smiled, and gently pressed her lips against his skin, cleaning the cream off his face little by little.

Xue Rui’s eyes narrowed. ‘I feel like I’m being licked by a puppy.’

“I’m impure now,” Xue Rui joked.

“You’ll be clean soon,” Lin Ruoxi said. She then took his hands and began to carefully clean them as well.

As he felt the warm, moist sensation on his fingertips, goosebumps erupted across his skin. ‘It was already hard enough to control myself today, and now she’s teasing me like this!’

‘Soon? Every second feels like an eternity!’

‘Who could possibly stand this?’

“Are you finding it difficult? But… I’m not on the menu today,” Lin Ruoxi said in a small voice.

She knew Xue Rui had been kicked out of the other room, but she was on her period today.

Xue Rui looked resigned. “And whose fault do you suppose that is?”

Lin Ruoxi froze for a second, then said slowly, “It’s… it’s my fault.”

Xue Rui glanced at the paper plate on Lin Ruoxi’s desk and figured she had been finishing the birthday cake they hadn’t eaten.

‘But it seems she doesn’t really like cream, huh? She left so much of it on her plate.’

‘What a waste…’

Looking at the leftover cream on the plate, a bold idea suddenly flashed through Xue Rui’s mind.

And so, Xue Rui deliberately smeared a bit of it onto his pants.

“Oh no, what a mess.”

Lin Ruoxi’s face flushed, and she swallowed nervously.

After a second’s hesitation, Lin Ruoxi closed the door. She pushed Xue Rui down into a chair, pulled a hair tie from her wrist, and quickly tied back her loose hair.
