Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 2703: Weirdo
Xiao Jiu shook his head, sulking, "I’m not going, if you want to go, go yourself."
The Weirdo frowned, "What’s wrong, not avenging your master?"
Xiao Jiu said angrily, "What Shichen do you think it is? People have already packed up and closed the market. Avenging?! You go yourself, I’m not going."
The Weirdo looked up at the sky. Sure enough, it wasn’t early anymore, but there was still a while until the sun set. He snorted coldly, "If you don’t go, I will!"
With that, he bounced up and went towards Gu’s Mansion...
"Hey, hey, hey... Big Worm...!"
Xiao Jiu was dumbfounded. He didn’t expect the Weirdo to actually go.
"They’ve already closed up; what’s the use of you going now?"
With a flap of wings, Xiao Jiu took flight. No, it had to watch over the Big Worm for its master. Otherwise, if the Big Worm recklessly caused a big trouble, it would be bad for the master.
"Hey, hey, hey! Big Worm, wait for me!" Xiao Jiu shouted while flying.
The Weirdo looked up to see Xiao Jiu flying overhead, "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t come? Why are you here?"
Xiao Jiu flew above his head, saying, "I’m not assured about you. I need to keep a close watch on you! Don’t cause trouble for the master."
The Weirdo laughed disdainfully, "Oh please, you with that tiny body, once you get there, everyone would want to catch you. Better mind yourself and don’t get the Master into trouble!"
Xiao Jiu: "Big Worm, you’re so annoying!"
Soon, they arrived at the door of Gu’s Mansion. As expected, what was bustling just a while ago was now deserted, leaving it looking very desolate.
Xiao Jiu chirped triumphantly, "See, I told you they’ve packed up!"
The Weirdo glanced at it with a sidelong look, "What do you, a mere bird, know, meddling not knowing the situation. Little one, let Master teach you, watch carefully."
Xiao Jiu perched on the roof edge, "Fine, I’ll watch the show from here, you go ahead and make trouble!"
The Weirdo leaped and jumped down from the roof, landing right in the center of the doorway, continuously wailing, "Oh my! It hurts, it hurts so much!"
A figure descended from the sky—already scary enough, and hearing the ghostly howling, the gatekeeper was startled at first. Once he steadied himself, he realized it was the same Weirdo who had come for alms earlier, and his heart calmed considerably.
At least it’s not an enemy coming to cause trouble.
The Old Master is still bedridden, with only the Eldest Madam handling things. If an enemy came looking for trouble, they definitely couldn’t handle it.
"Hey! Old man, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t get enough to eat? There’s no more alms if you’re still hungry, it’s all distributed already!" the servant shouted at the Weirdo.
The Weirdo got angry and shouted back, "Are your ears deaf? Didn’t you hear Master say his stomach hurts? Who dares to eat alms poisoned like this?"
A few servants were also getting upset. The Old Master, being benevolent, had been distributing alms for seven days straight, and all the citizens in the Capital praised him. Yet, there’s always one unreasonable person who dares to come back and cause trouble. Such a thick-skinned person is truly a first.
"Old man, don’t talk nonsense. Our Gu’s Mansion has given out alms for seven days in a row, and no one has ever said anything about poisoning."
The Weirdo’s eyes darted again, and immediately he cursed, "That’s because your Gu’s Mansion looks down on Master since he’s disabled and deliberately poisoned him, right?"
As they say, with an intention to humiliate, where’s the lack of an excuse?
The servants almost exploded with anger towards the Weirdo and didn’t want to talk to him anymore. Holding their weapons, they began to drive him away, "Get lost, freeloading with an attitude! Get out, or we’ll call the government office to arrest you!"
