Chapter 1839 - 1840: Reading

After lunch, Yan Xiaoman would usually go back to the dormitory for a short nap, but now with Lin Xian around, she couldn't exactly bring him into the girls' dormitory.

Yan Xiaoman thought about it and suggested, "How about... we go to the library?"

"Sure, it's nice to sit in the library for a while!" Lin Xian agreed with a smile.

Although FD University library isn't open to the public, with a valid ID, it's possible to get a temporary reader's card. This card is one-time use and only allows reading within the library, not borrowing books. Lin Xian used his student ID to successfully get one. Then he and Xiaoman stepped into the library, where Yan Xiaoliang quickly found a book that caught her interest.

Meanwhile, Lin Xian felt a bit frustrated, as he wandered around the library only to find all the books were humanities-related.

"Why are there only humanities books?"

Yan Xiaoman answered matter-of-factly, "This is a humanities library, of course, there're only humanities books. If you want science books, you have to go to the science library."

"Libraries are segregated by disciplines?"

"That's really impressive!"

Helpless, Lin Xian just picked up a copy of "The Count of Monte Cristo" to kill some time. The two found a quiet corner to sit down, with Yan Xiaoman leaning slightly against Lin Xian and gently flipping open her book, her lips slightly curled into a smile.

The library was very quiet, and they didn't talk, merely leaning against each other as they read their respective books.

Peaceful, pleasant.

This feeling of serene and beautiful life made her deeply infatuated.

If she could, Yan Xiaozhen wished she could spend her entire life with Lin Xian like this.

At FD University's entrance, Yan Xiaoman looked at Lin Xian reluctantly and reminded him, "Drive carefully on the road, safety is most important."

Lin Xian lightly brushed her cheek, affectionately saying, "Don't make it seem like we're parting for life. With the debate contest over, I'll come to find you on weekends, or you can come to Jinling to find me."

Yan Xiaoliang nodded, finally showing a smile.

After a moment of affection and exchanging goodbye kisses, Yan Xiaoman blushed and turned to walk into the campus.

As he watched her figure disappear into the campus, Lin Xian hurried to the parking lot, started the car, and headed toward Jinling. By the time he got back to Jinling, it was already 11 in the morning.

Lin Xian drove directly to the gate of Jin University, took out his phone, and dialed Zhang Mengnao's number. The call was quickly answered, and Lin Xian chuckled, "Mr. Zhang, 4:1, are you finished with your class yet?"

Zhang Mengnao snorted coldly, "Hey, the princess let you return to Jinling?"

This chick had been mad since yesterday when Yan Xiaoman went on a rampage against her, and felt too guilty to fight back.

As a result, she was still fuming inside.

Upon hearing this, Lin Xian couldn't help but tease, "Yeah, not only did she let me come back, but she also asked me to bring you a message."

Zhang Mengyao froze, inexplicably becoming tense.

Lin Xian laughed, "It's not convenient to say on the phone, I'm at the school gate, let's grab lunch together, alright? Wait for me a moment!" With that, Zhang Mengyao hung up the phone.

See, wasn't that simple?

Not only did he change the subject, but he also accomplished the goal of having lunch.

It didn't take long for Lin Xian to see Zhang Mengyao's silhouette.

The weather was nice today, sunny and bright.

So, Zhang Mengyao donned her pleated short skirt again, walking up with radiant charm, and asked full of doubt, "What did the princess want you to tell me?"

Lin Xian grinned mischievously, leaned in, and whispered by her ear. Zhang Mengyao's face instantly turned red as she glared at Lin Xian fiercely, angrily saying, "You jerk, fooling me again. The princess wouldn't say such things!"

"What if she really did?" Lin Xian raised an eyebrow.

"Well, even if she did, it's not happening. Lin Xian, I'm telling you, don't even think about it!" Zhang Mengyao got anxious, a blush creeping up her ears.

But Lin Xian wasn't upset because the message was something he made up. So he put his arm around Zhang Mengyao, comforting her, "Okay, if you don't want to, we won't. Let's go eat first!"

"Eat what?"

Zhang Mengyao raised her head slightly, asking.

Lin Xian suggested, "How about that Little Bamboo Garden 地锅鸡 we had last time?"

"Yeah!"

Hearing this, Zhang Mengyao's eyes lit up, nodding eagerly.

With that, the two walked quickly in the direction of Little Bamboo Garden.

The restaurant was still the same, the boss lady still being silent and stern-faced, seemingly like people owed her hundreds. "One 地锅鸡, please."

Lin Xian said, casually finding a place to sit.

Honestly, the best thing here is 地锅鸡; the other dishes are pretty average.

Plus, their 地锅鸡 portions are substantial, more than enough for the two of them, so Lin Xian didn't order any other dishes.

Soon, the boss lady brought over a freshly brewed pot of tea.

Lin Xian poured a cup for Zhang Mengyao and asked, "When are you planning to move into the villa?"

Zhang Mengnao paused her actions, a hint of awkwardness flashed in her eyes, but she responded proudly, "Why would I go there?"

"That's fine too, Zhuang Xing mentioned the other day that the current house is too small, so maybe they should move there." Lin Xian said teasingly.

Right after he spoke, Zhang Mengyao glared at him angrily and complained, "Are you intentionally trying to annoy me?"

Lin Xian explained, "What I mean is, the house is all set up now, leaving it empty is a waste, and having no one living there for a long time just doesn't feel right."

To be honest, houses are peculiar things. Have you ever noticed that homes built at the same time, yet the ones lived in and empty are completely different? Even luxuriously decorated villas, if uninhabited for long, give off an eerie, decaying atmosphere. Ideally, regardless of being lived in, a house's lifespan should remain the same. But in reality, unoccupied homes deteriorate faster.

Of course, Lin Xian wasn't really concerned about waste, he simply wanted to live with Zhang Mengyao.

Upon hearing that, Zhang Mengyao hesitated, "I can move there on weekends, but I still have to stay in the dormitory during the week."

It's not that she didn't want to move in full-time; the off-campus housing procedures for Jin University are as troublesome as Golden Finance's. It's only in the third year that one can independently apply.

Before the third year, to get off-campus housing, parents must come to school to discuss with the counselor, and it's only possible if both parties agree.

Lin Xian understood, after all, not everyone has such strong relations with their counselor like him. He took a sip of tea and continued, "After lunch, let's look into hiring some cleaning staff?"

Zhang Mengnao hesitated awkwardly and softly replied, "Lin Xian, can we go without staff?"

"Why?" Lin Xian asked, puzzled.

"I just find it weird, not used to it," Zhang Mengyao frowned.

Her thought was simple, that villa is meant to be a love nest for her and Lin Xian, a place where they could do whatever they wanted. With more staff around, she'd feel restrained.

Lin Xian considered her suggestion, "How about this, we won't hire staff, but I'll contact a cleaning company to send people over daily for cleaning and lawn maintenance. They leave right after cleaning, how's that sound?"

Hiring cleaning personnel was necessary; otherwise, with the villa's size, self-cleaning would leave him no time for other activities.

Upon hearing his suggestion, Zhang Mengyao immediately agreed, "That's pretty nice!"

Cleaning company's employees are professional, efficient at their tasks, and although they come daily, they'd only need a couple of hours to finish the work.
