Rebirth of the Peak Young Master

Chapter 1838 - 1839: The Way You Look

Like seeing a ghost

Slacker boyfriend, now actually teaching her a class, and doing a damn good job. Who would believe it?

Impossible!

It must be an illusion

I must have opened my eyes the wrong way!

Thinking of this, Yan Xiaoman closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then reopened them to see

Lin Xian on the podium.

Right now, Lin Xian was staring at her with a half-smile and said, "Yan Xiaoman, could you please explain

the relationship between Lagrange's Mean Value Theorem and Taylor's formula?

Yan Xiao: ??

She had been zoned out the whole time, with her mind full of question marks, not really paying attention to what Lin Xian was saying.

Seeing her dumbfounded and speechless, Lin Xian mischievously said, "Pay attention in class, don't zone out. I don't want

you to become the worst student in the worst batch I've taught."

The worst student in the worst batch?

Many students couldn't help but laugh.

Yan Xiaoman was so angry she ground her teeth, her tiny canine teeth moving continuously, her beautiful eyes sparking with danger.

If it weren't for the situation, she'd definitely bite this jerk; this jerk made her lose face in front of so many classmates.

But aside from being annoyed, Yan Xiaoman was more shocked in her heart.

This calm and eloquent person on the podium, is he really her slacker boyfriend?

If he's a slacker, then what am I?

An academic drifter? Or an academic wreck?

To Lin Xian, foundational theorems like Lagrange's Mean Value Theorem from single-variable calculus are as simple

as elementary school arithmetic.

And since his age was the same as these students, his manner of speaking wasn't as rigid as some other teachers',

often bursting out with witty remarks and internet slang.

His lectures were simple and clear, which made the students listen with interest.

Time flew by, and halfway through the class, a middle-aged man with a bulky figure rushed into the classroom.

When he saw Lin Xian speaking confidently on the podium, he was stunned, and the two of them stared at each other in silence.

Wang Zhouji was a bit annoyed because, before class, an urgent family matter arose. Typically, asking for a substitute

requires giving advance notice, but finding someone in the last few minutes before class is almost impossible.

But the family issue was urgent, so Wang Zhouji had to rush home to handle it.

Once the matter was quickly dealt with, when he hurried to the classroom, he suddenly saw a young man lecturing on the podium.

Honestly, to him, this was actually a good thing.

Because skipping class without leave, serious or minor, can be a big issue. At its least, you're just late, and students have a period of self-study.

At its worst, if someone reports it, it becomes a teaching accident, which is serious. Now someone is filling in for him, which logically

should be good. But the problem is, he hadn't asked anyone to substitute for him!

Or did the school arrange it for him?

But he hasn't been notified either.

After staying stunned for a few seconds, Lin Xian reacted first, hurriedly smiling and saying, "Professor Wang, did you resolve your issue?"

Uh, yes, resolved!

Professor Wang nodded and smiled politely, but inside, he was still wondering, we... know each other?

Lin Xian put down the chalk and suggested, "Since you've handled your matter, would you like to continue teaching?"

Professor Wang glanced at the blackboard, then swept his eyes over the attentive students, waving his hand and saying, "No need, no need,

you continue teaching, I'll listen for a while.

Saying this, he found an empty seat to sit.

The other students didn't find it strange, only Yan Xiaoman and Zhou Hui looked puzzled.

Although there was an additional auditor in the classroom, Lin Xian wasn't fazed and continued teaching as usual.

Professor Wang was initially apprehensive, but the more he listened, the more he raised his eyebrows, thinking, "This young man's teaching

skills are impressive!"

Though a bit rough, his math level was on point, and his understanding of the material was thorough, letting Professor Wang

relax his previously worried mind.

In the length of one class period, Lin Xian taught the entirety of Lagrange's Mean Value Theorem, glanced at his watch

and realized there were two minutes left before the bell. He mischievously said, "Now, let's assign some homework: Think about whether

the conditions of Lagrange's Mean Value Theorem are necessary. If not, provide examples."

Assigning homework was just a spur-of-the-moment whim.

But he hadn't expected that assigning homework would be so enjoyable. Now, he understood why some teachers enjoyed

assigning homework to students; it's addictive.

It's too gratifying.

It's satisfying for him, but it puts the students in a tough spot.

Homework again?

In the past, Professor Wang Zhouji never assigned homework, since math wasn't critical to their major.

Zhou Hui grimaced and whispered to Xiao Mann, "Why do I feel your boyfriend did this on purpose?"

"Be confident, drop the feeling. This bastard definitely did it on purpose!" Yan Xiaoman gritted her teeth and said coldly.

This guy was so into his role, not only made her lose face, but really assigned homework like nobody's business. Yan Xiaoman

squinted at him, thinking about where to bite him later when suddenly the bell rang.

Students in the classroom stood up one by one, packed their books, and gradually left the classroom. Lin Xian put down

the chalk and noticed Professor Wang Zhouji was still in the classroom, smiling while watching him.

Lin Xian apologized, smiling, "Professor Wang, sorry for troubling you."

"I should be thanking you instead."

Professor Wang adjusted his glasses, smiling with interest, "You seem unfamiliar. Are you a new graduate student at the maths department?"

Having listened to half a class, he naturally assumed Lin Xian was a graduate student in mathematics. Hearing this,

Lin Xian explained, "I'm not an 'FD' student. I'm just here accompanying my girlfriend to class."

"Ah, not an 'FD' graduate student. No wonder you look so unfamiliar." While a professor can't possibly remember all graduates,

one usually gets acquainted within the department.

Even though he wasn't an 'FD' student, Professor Wang was still very interested in him and asked with a smile, "Who's your advisor?"

The circle within domestic mathematics is quite small; even if you don't know each other well, you'd have at least heard of each other.

Lin Xian didn't bother explaining he wasn't a graduate student and casually mentioned Old Dai's name. "Ah, Old Dai!"

Clearly, Wang Zhouji recognized Dai Pingbo, and their relationship seemed good. He even jokingly remarked, "Old Dai's got a stroke of luck!

He picked a promising student."

Since Lin Xian helped him out and there was this layer of connection, Wang Zhouji's smile grew even brighter. "What's your research focus?"

"Number Theory!" "Number Theory?"

Wang Zhouji was momentarily taken aback, then burst into laughter, teasing, "I remember Old Dai is into linear transformations, right?"

"Your ideas are unique!"

Choosing a boss in applied mathematics to learn pure mathematics, can he not be amused?

"Mostly it's an interest," Lin Xian smiled and said.

Professor Wang nodded in agreement, "Absolutely, in our field, interest is crucial. If you're learning with a purpose, it becomes too taxing."

Mathematics is incredibly tedious. Without interest, it's best to change your major early.

The two exchanged a few more words, then Professor Wang left. Watching his departing back, Lin Xian suddenly felt a slight pain

in his side.

Turning his head, he saw Yan Xiaoman standing behind him at some point, pinching him.

Lin Xian raised his eyebrow and said, "What are you doing?"

"You made me lose face, calling me the worst of the worst, it's infuriating!"

Yan Xiaoman said, then playfully bit his shoulder.

Though it was a bite, it was more like playful flirting between couples. Zhou Huan nearby saw this, quickly turned around, and left.

"Pardon the interruption, goodbye."

To not interfere with her own lunch, she decided to sneak away.

A moment later, Lin Xian joked, "Okay, stop biting, or the clothes will tear." Yan Xiaoman let go, fixing her gaze on him with curiosity,

"Did you really self-study all undergraduate mathematics courses?"

"Of course, if you're ever failing calculus, I can tutor you!" Lin Xian chuckled, teasing.

"Show off!"

Yan Xiaoman rolled her eyes at him, yet felt sweet inside.

Her little boyfriend was becoming more perfect daily. At noon, the two of them solved their lunch in the school cafeteria.
