Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 514: Wen Meng's Plan, Qi Fei Goes to the Capital City
Then, Wen Meng sat down and said, “Ah Yun, I want to head back to Mianzhou tomorrow. I have to get ready; school is about to start!”
It suddenly occurred to Wu Yun that Wen Meng would be a senior this semester and would have to do an internship soon. “Meng Meng!” he said, “I haven’t asked what your plans are for this semester yet!”
Qi Fei looked toward Wen Meng as well. “Oh, that’s right! Meng Meng, you’re a senior this semester! It’s gone by so fast. And I’m a junior!”
Wen Meng said with a hesitant expression, “Ah Yun… actually, I’m thinking about applying for grad school!”
Both Wu Yun and Qi Fei looked surprised. “Where did that idea come from?” Wu Yun asked.
Wen Meng said with a smile, “It’s because of you!”
“Your company is growing larger and larger. If all I know is how to dance, it makes me feel like just an ornament. I’m no help to you!”
“Some time ago, I added your mom’s contact information. She thinks I should go for a master’s degree in business Management. That way, I could either start my own business in the future or be of some help to you!”
“Worst case, if I learn Management, my chances of successfully growing a dance studio will be much higher than if someone else tried to do it!”
“Feifei is already on the path to success now! I feel like I need to work hard, too!”
“After long and careful consideration, I’ve decided I want to give it my all! After all, I passed the English Level 6 exam! If I start preparing now, I still have a chance! I want to fight for it!”
Wu Yun smiled and ruffled Wen Meng’s hair. “Okay! I support you!” he said. “Even if you fail… bah, what am I saying? Scratch that! I believe in you! You’ll definitely get in!”
Qi Fei added supportively, “Meng Meng! Study hard! Then you can be the one to keep his wallet on a tight leash!”
After taking a bite of her soup dumpling, Qi Fei added, “Xiaoyunzi! I’m heading to Capital City the day after tomorrow!”
Wu Yun hesitated. “Maybe you should put it off for a while?”
Wu Yun knew Qi Fei had two main reasons for going to Capital City. The first was to visit his mother, Yu Min, and the second was to have a talk with Bai Yue.
Because she felt that it just wouldn’t do for Wu Yun to make the two of them leave every time he had a video call with Bai Yue.
After all, they were all bound to meet eventually, so it was better to resolve the issue sooner rather than later.
“We can’t put it off anymore! This has to be resolved as soon as possible! Otherwise, if she finds out on her own later, she won’t be able to handle the outcome!” For once, Qi Fei adopted a firm attitude; she had always deferred to Wu Yun’s decisions on major issues.
Wu Yun thought for a moment and sighed. “Alright, then. But you have to be tactful, okay? If I didn’t have something to take care of back in Rongcheng, I would’ve gone with you.”
Qi Fei covered her mouth and giggled. “Whose fault is it for being such a womanizer! Now I have to go and clean up your mess!”
Wen Meng said with a helpless air, “When he goes back to his university to give that speech, who knows how many more innocent young girls he’ll charm.”
Wu Yun raised three fingers. “I swear! For you two, I’ve resisted a great many temptations!”
“Tch, I don’t believe you for a second! We were both in Hengdian for a month, and even though you were in Capital City for seven or eight days, you expect me to believe you just relied on *this* the rest of the time?” Qi Fei said, making a practiced gesture.
A dark look crossed Wu Yun’s face. ‘When did the once pure and charming Qi Fei become so lewd?’
Wu Yun laughed and retorted, “How dare you mock your master! Tonight, I’ll have you practicing your wrist flexibility!”
…
Wu Yun spent two more days in Modu, and during that time, the trio shopped their way through several of the city’s commercial districts.
If WeChat had a step-tracking feature, Wu Yun figured his step count would surely be in the twenty to thirty thousand range every day. Even with his stamina and constitution, his calves were sore by the time he returned at night.
The next day, Wu Yun and Wen Meng first returned to Rongcheng. Wu Yun then sent the plane back to Modu to pick up Qi Fei and fly her to Capital City.
When the plane landed at Capital International Airport, Qi Fei made her way through the VIP exit and easily found the person waiting to pick her up.
The arranged driver was once again an employee from Little Red Car, the same one who had driven Wu Yun on several previous occasions.
Because “Disguiser” had become a huge hit recently, Qi Fei was wearing sunglasses, which was a rare sight.
Xie Qi had found the name Qi Fei unusually familiar when she took the job, and she was completely stunned when she saw the actress in person.
‘It’s actually that celebrity who’s gotten pretty famous recently!’ But then Xie Qi remembered her boss’s net worth, and her surprise subsided a little.
The September air was still incredibly hot and dry. Qi Fei was dressed for the weather in a cool, form-fitting dress with spaghetti straps that drew quite a few stares.
Xie Qi glanced from Qi Fei’s figure to her face, her own expression one of stunned admiration.
‘She’s so captivating she can even attract another woman; one could only imagine the look in the eyes of the men who couldn’t stop staring at her.’
“Miss Qi! Please, follow me!” Xie Qi said with a smile, glancing at the assistant and bodyguard behind Qi Fei.
Qi Fei, long accustomed to the stares of passersby, pushed her sunglasses up the bridge of her nose and said with a smile, “Thank you. I’m sorry for the trouble over the next few days.”
Xie Qi quickly looked back and laughed. “It’s no trouble, no trouble at all! The overtime pay President Wu gives is quite high! We’re always happy to run errands for him!”
Xie Qi was telling the truth. Wu Yun was never stingy when it came to these things. You couldn’t expect a horse to run without letting it eat, after all.
Seeing Xie Qi say this, Qi Fei didn’t press the matter. As she walked, she was mentally preparing for how to face Wu Yun’s mother, Yu Min, and how to approach Bai Yue.
A short while later, Xie Qi led the group to the parking garage. A black Mercedes commercial van was waiting, engine rumbling. A puddle of water had already formed on the ground underneath it.
“Please, get in.” Xie Qi pulled open the rear door.
A blast of cool air immediately hit Qi Fei.
Once inside the vehicle, Qi Fei asked, “Xie Qi, where is the room your President Wu booked for me?”
Xie Qi turned around in the passenger seat with a smile. “Per President Wu’s instructions, we booked one night for you at the hotel next to the Hongyu Hui Energy Group headquarters, and we also booked a room at a hotel not far from Capital City Normal University.”
Xie Qi’s expression turned apologetic. “Miss Qi, since we didn’t know how many days you’d be staying in the Capital, I only booked the hotel near Capital City Normal University for two nights for now.”
By now, Qi Fei had taken off her glasses. When Xie Qi turned to look at her, she was even more astonished. ‘She’s even more beautiful in person than on screen!’
“That’s fine. We can extend it later if need be! I’m not sure how long I’ll be staying, either.”
Before long, Qi Fei saw the sign for the Hongyu Hui Energy Group and its brand-new office building out the window.
Even someone like Qi Fei couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.
She had done some research before she came, but the group was so low-key that there was very little information about it online. Most of what was available were just tender announcements or acquisition notices.
Yet even from these mere fragments of information, Qi Fei could sense that comparing the current Wu Yun to the Hongyu Hui Energy Group was like comparing a newborn baby to a full-grown adult.
As one of the people closest to Wu Yun, Qi Fei had naturally learned a lot about Yu Min from him, including some information about his grandfathers.
In fact, when she first heard all this, Qi Fei’s jaw had dropped. She’d never expected that Wu Yun, whom she had believed to be an orphan, actually came from a family with such a powerful background.
That was why Qi Fei had felt even more apprehensive back then. She knew that families with such backgrounds were one of two extremes: they either had incredibly high expectations, demanding a match of equal social standing or even an arranged marriage, or they had no expectations at all.
When she had shared this thought with Wu Yun, however, he had mercilessly laughed at her.
“Feifei, have you been watching too much TV?!”
“This is the age of falling in love freely. Besides, do you really think people at my grandfathers’ level still need to resort to such primitive methods?”
“Even if they did, it wouldn’t happen to me!” Wu Yun said with a grin, staring into Qi Fei’s eyes. “You can just think of it as my wings having grown in.”
