Chapter 477: Chapter 397: The Explosively Popular Game, Live Chat

Li Shuo’s Saber Technique routine won him a round of applause from the three judges.

Wei Feng, seated in the middle, nodded in satisfaction and said, “Excellent! Li Shuo! Based on that Saber Technique alone, I’d say the role of Li Feiyu belongs to you and no one else!”

Wei Feng glanced at Hu Ge and Director Xu Ke on either side of him and said with a smile, “What do my fellow judges think?”

Hu Ge was the first to speak, smiling. “Li Shuo, I’m very impressed with your acting! But what I admire even more is your martial arts foundation. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t have skills like yours! So, you have my vote.”

Li Shuo smiled and bowed. “Thank you, Teacher Hu!”

After speaking, he turned his gaze to Xu Ke’s gaunt, gray-bearded face.

Xu Ke’s normally serious expression broke into a smile. “Li Shuo! Attaboy! I can’t believe it’s been a few years—you’ve already graduated! With skills like that, you’ve certainly done your family’s teachings proud!”

“Thank you, Uncle Xu!” Li Shuo said with a smile.

Xu Ke nodded. “Your performance was excellent! It makes me glad I recommended you. Although Li Feiyu only appears in the early parts of the story, he’s a very important character to the readers!”

“So if you work for me, my standards are very high! You’d better be prepared for that!”

Li Shuo nodded firmly. “Rest assured, Director Xu! My dad told me before I came that I was to follow your every instruction!”

Seeing that the other two had given their opinions, Wei Feng wrote Li Shuo’s name in his notebook next to the role of Li Feiyu.

“Li Shuo, you can head back for now! Remember to study the script closely!”

Wei Feng had barely finished speaking when Wu Yun’s voice cut in. “Wait!”

The three turned to look at Wu Yun, though they weren’t worried he would object. After all, Li Shuo’s performance had been far better than anyone else’s that day.

“Li Shuo, I was just looking at your information. It says here you aren’t signed with an agency yet?” Wu Yun asked.

Li Shuo, who was well aware of Wu Yun’s identity, replied without a change in expression, “That’s correct.”

However, Li Shuo already had a pretty good guess what this was about.

Sure enough, Wu Yun said, “Li Shuo, any interest in joining Phoenix Entertainment?”

Li Shuo hesitated, neither accepting nor refusing. He simply said, “Thank you for the kind offer, President Wu, but this is a big decision. I’ll need to go home and discuss it with my dad.”

Afraid that Wu Yun might misunderstand, Wei Feng quickly explained, “President Wu, Li Shuo’s father used to be a stuntman—he’s an industry insider himself! He even has his own agency. If he didn’t, I would’ve invited Li Shuo to join us long ago! I think he has a ton of potential.”

Wu Yun nodded and didn’t press the matter. He just looked at the tall Li Shuo and said, “Alright. Go discuss it with your dad. And don’t worry about the role.”

Li Shuo breathed a sigh of relief, then politely excused himself and left.

“Next!”

…

When Kunpeng Games had announced the tournament a few days prior, their official website was swarmed by so many users that it began to lag. Fortunately, Ling Yi had acted decisively and activated the backup servers, preventing the site from crashing completely under the load.

After Kunpeng Games announced the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds tournament and its massive prize pool, gamers everywhere, including those abroad, exploded with enthusiasm.

“Mom will never have to worry about me not making money from gaming again!”

“To the person above me, you must be dreaming! You want to be a pro player? I wonder how fast you can even loot a crate.”

…

“That’s it, I’ve decided! I’m signing up! I’m forming a squad!”

“Does this mean we’ll get a chance to stomp some foreigners!?”

Foreign players were even more frenzied, all of them clamoring to win the prize money. Of course, there were some provocations as well.

“The championship will definitely belong to the United States!”

“Huaxia People! Wash your necks and wait, I’m going to turn every last one of you into a death crate!” a ‘Little Days’ user commented, instantly sparking a massive online flame war.

Gradually, other foreign users noticed that before the tournament had even begun, users from Huaxia and ‘Little Days’ were already challenging each other to fights, clearly unable to stand one another.

Of course, all these comments were being monitored by Kunpeng Games. If any comments violated the rules or were deemed too inflammatory, the relevant staff would delete them.

Everything was within controllable limits.

Naturally, the news of the tournament and the massive prize money also spurred sales of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds accounts and boosted downloads of the mobile version.

In response to demand from international players, Kunpeng Games would be making the mobile version available for download outside the country starting June 1st.

Gaming guilds and clubs everywhere began forming their own PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds teams. They started inviting or recruiting skilled players online, all of them wanting a slice of the pie from the upcoming tournament.

In just a few short days, domestic sales for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds skyrocketed by one million, while international sales grew by nearly two million.

So, as Wu Yun got in the car with Qi Fei to head to Song Qin’s birthday party, Wang Hao turned around from the passenger seat and said, “President Wu! You’ve got to check Weibo! Everyone’s going crazy!”

Wu Yun was completely baffled. Normally, he only used Weibo to post announcements or scroll through the news; he rarely looked at his @-mentions. On top of that, he’d been so busy lately that he hadn’t had any time to check it at all.

“It’s about the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds world championship. Tons of users have questions for you! Some people are even asking to team up with you! Including some celebrities!”

Wang Hao said, scrolling through screenshots on his phone, “Oh! Right! Principal Wang also @-mentioned you. He said there’s something he wants to discuss with you, a potential collaboration!”

Wu Yun immediately knew what Principal Wang was after.
