Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 476 - 396: Changes to the Honor of Kings Tournament System, The Auditioning Actor (2)
Wang Jiale’s expression was complicated. "No, no, no! I don’t think that at all! You’re the heartthrob for so many girls in my class!"
Wu Yun’s lips curled into a slight smile. ’I didn’t expect to have this kind of reputation among high schoolers.’
Wu Yun scanned Wang Jiale’s stats with his Detection Glasses.
Name: Wang Jiale
Age: 17
Height: 167cm
Weight: 48kg
Beauty: 87 (Without makeup)
Figure: 88
Special Score: 95 (Where no grass grows)
Skills: ...
Affinity: 85
Wu Yun was somewhat taken aback by the 95 rating. It was the first time he’d ever met a girl like that. What surprised him even more was that Wang Jiale’s Affinity for him was actually an 85. That was definitely a novelty.
It seemed Wang Jiale’s school was really holding him up as a role model.
Before Wu Yun could say anything, Wang Jiale chuckled and waved to Zhou Shuwen. "Mom! Come here!"
Wang Jiale pulled Zhou Shuwen toward the balcony.
For a moment, Wu Yun saw something very familiar in Wang Jiale’s features. It was as if he’d seen her somewhere before his rebirth. However, one thing was certain: he had seen her in a video.
But after seeing the rating from his Detection Glasses, Wu Yun finally recalled Wang Jiale’s identity. It turned out she was the "Doll Sister" from his past life—the star of certain films that had captivated countless otaku!
Seeing the fair skin beneath her JK uniform, Wu Yun grew even more certain of his conclusion.
In this life, however, Wang Jiale wasn’t the internet-famous Doll Sister yet. She was just a high school student!
The mother and daughter kept whispering to each other. Seeing Zhou Shuwen’s constantly changing expression, Wu Yun felt that staying any longer would just be awkward. He stood up from the sofa and said, "Sister Shuwen! Since your daughter is here, I won’t impose. Come to my company on Monday, and we can discuss the Pinduoduo financing."
Zhou Shuwen’s expression firmed instantly. "Wait!" she said quickly. "I have something to discuss with you!"
...
It wasn’t until nearly lunchtime that Wu Yun finally left Binjiang Triumphal Arch. He didn’t call Wei Wu for a ride, simply taking a quick walk along the street back to Cofco Seaview No.1.
After lunch, Wu Yun accompanied Qi Fei to Phoenix Entertainment to check on the casting progress.
While Qi Fei was observing the auditions, Wu Yun got a call from Wang Chao.
Wu Yun believed they should increase the prize pool for the Honor of Kings tournaments. So, after their meeting the other day, Wang Chao and Qi Fei gathered the company’s management for a brainstorming session to revise and improve the original tournament system.
The original plan for Honor of Kings was to adopt a league system similar to League of Legends. However, after careful consideration, they decided against it.
After all, Honor of Kings was a phenomenal game. They couldn’t just have the massive player base watch the same ten or twenty teams battle it out year after year. Even with a promotion and relegation system, audiences weren’t stupid. They would eventually suffer from viewing fatigue.
So, they canceled the planned Autumn Split of the original biannual Spring and Autumn league system, adding a year-end World Championship instead.
Therefore, the World Championship would be held directly in the second half of the year. The competition would be divided by administrative regions, starting with open qualifiers. Within the designated time frame, the top ten teams with the most points in each provincial or regional team competition would advance to the next round.
This way, even an amateur team could potentially become a dark horse.
You can’t expect the horse to run without feeding it, after all! So, they also set up prize money, skins, and other gifts in each province and region as rewards just for participating.
While the prize money was small compared to the main championship, this was just for the open qualifiers!
The open qualifiers would officially begin in the second half of the year, on July 1st, and last for three months.
The matches would be held online. After entering a special lobby, other players could join as spectators and watch the livestream!
After the open qualifiers ended, the Playoffs would begin!
The Playoffs would divide competitors into larger zones. For now, there were only seven zones within the Huaxia Region—the South China Region, East China Region, North China Region, Northeast Region, and so on—but zones for other countries and areas would be added in the future.
The Playoffs would be held as an offline event, scheduled for one month after the open qualifiers. This month-long break would give the organizers time to prepare for the event, while players could use the opportunity to train and improve their team synergy.
The Playoff tournament itself would only last five to seven days, during which the top ten teams from each zone would be determined.
Since the Playoffs were an offline event, to ease the contestants’ worries, the organizers would not only cover all expenses but also offer a more substantial prize pool.
If a team failed to show up or chose to forfeit, their spot would automatically be given to the next-highest ranking team.
And finally came the Knockout Stage and the Grand Finals!
As for the following year’s Spring Split, the top 18 to 24 teams from the Grand Finals would be invited to participate.
For the championship in the second year, all team points would be reset to zero, forcing everyone to compete and accumulate points all over again.
Wu Yun understood their reasoning. This system would not only motivate all players to participate but would also ensure that the Honor of Kings competitive scene wasn’t just an exclusive club for a select few.
It was true. Even though Wu Yun had played Honor of Kings in his previous life, he wasn’t familiar with a single team in the professional league. He’d never even heard of them.
"Alright! Go with the revised plan!"
Wu Yun hung up and glanced at Qi Fei, who was sitting in the audition room, intently watching the performance. Only then did he open WeChat.
Wang Jiale: "Big Bro! Are you coming over for dinner tonight? My mom and I will cook for you!"
Reading her message, Wu Yun subtly rubbed his lower back.
"Can’t tonight, I have plans! I’ll come over tomorrow!"
Wang Jiale sent back an unhappy emoji, followed by a voice message.
Wu Yun played the voice message. "Okay then! Big Bro! You have to come tomorrow! Otherwise, I have to take the bullet train back to Hang City tomorrow night! School starts the day after!"
Wu Yun sent a "head pat" emoji and replied, "It’s fine. Even if I don’t make it tomorrow, there will be plenty of chances for your mom and I to come to Hang City to visit you in the future!"
Wang Jiale sent a happy animated sticker. "Yay, yay! But I still hope you can come tomorrow!"
Wu Yun couldn’t help but touch his forehead. ’This girl really is a bit clingy! But it’s understandable.’
"Alright, alright! I’ll come over at noon tomorrow! I’m still busy at the company right now! We can talk more when I come over tomorrow!"
"Okay! Bye-bye!"
After sending his reply, Wu Yun pushed open the door to the audition room.
The casting directors at the main table saw Wu Yun come in and started to get up, but he stopped them with a gesture, indicating they should continue and pay him no mind.
The male actor who was auditioning was pouring his all into a scene from the script. Even though he heard the door open, the actor, whose back was to the entrance, didn’t turn around, seemingly unaffected.
"I am Li Feiyu. Might I ask for Junior Brother’s name?"
...
Wu Yun sat down beside Qi Fei, watching the broad-shouldered, slim-waisted actor on stage give a vivid and energetic performance. He even mimed wielding a long saber in an impromptu display.
Wu Yun watched the actor, his hand enclosing Qi Fei’s slender one. Breathing in her light, fresh scent, he suddenly smiled and asked, "Feifei, what do you think of his acting?"
Wu Yun was asking a question to which he already knew the answer. He had already detected that this actor, Li Shuo, was likely a recent graduate. However, his acting had already reached a Proficient level, and even his saber forms were rated as Proficient.
Qi Fei had an appreciative look on her face. "I think his acting is excellent! He completely embodies the character and martial prowess of Li Feiyu!"
Wu Yun didn’t recall any famous actor named Li Shuo from his past life. It seemed he never produced any significant work.
"Which agency is he with?" Wu Yun asked, picking up the file in front of Qi Fei.
Qi Fei said, completely unfazed, "He’s not signed with any agency."
Wu Yun looked at Li Shuo’s file in surprise. "Not signed with an agency? How did he get an audition here? I remember President Wei saying we were only inviting actors from other agencies."
Seeing the look on Qi Fei’s face, Wu Yun instantly understood. ’Oh! He’s either got powerful connections or a rich family!’
Qi Fei shrugged. "I don’t know either. You’ll have to ask President Wei for the details."
