Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 443 - 382: This is My Husband, Qian Shujun
Wu Yun and Wen Meng spent another day in Modu before boarding a flight back to Rongcheng.
As soon as they settled into their seats, Wang Hao came over with his phone, his expression excited. "President Wu! You have to see this news."
"A Modern Take on Justice Over Kin: Famed Director Kong Sheng Sends Son to Prison!"
It was an incredibly eye-catching headline, one that made you irresistibly want to click and find out more.
Wu Yun tapped on it, and a look of sudden realization dawned on his face.
It seemed Kong Sheng had discovered his son was using illegal substances and, in a fit of anger, had turned him over to the police.
Smiling, Wu Yun handed the phone back to Wang Hao. "Go on, get to your seat! We’re about to take off!"
After Wang Hao left, Wu Yun turned to Wen Meng beside him and said, "This Kong Sheng has some serious guts! Not many people could go that far."
Seeing this news, the last vestiges of Wu Yun’s anger vanished completely.
...
After returning to Rongcheng, Wu Yun dropped Wen Meng off at her school, then drove his Aston Martin toward Jingyang.
His bodyguards and assistant followed behind in two other cars.
As soon as he arrived in Jingyang, Wu Yun headed straight for the cemetery.
Standing in the familiar spot, Wu Yun wiped the dust from the headstone before neatly arranging a fruit platter, incense, and candles.
He murmured, "Grandpa, Grandma... I’m sorry. I couldn’t make it back to see you for the Qingming Festival because of work."
But then Wu Yun chuckled. "Okay, I’m kidding. It was mostly because of your future granddaughters-in-law. I’m sure you won’t hold it against me, right?"
"I wanted to bring them all with me, but they have their studies to focus on! Next time! I’ll definitely bring them to meet you next time!"
Wu Yun stayed at the cemetery for a full half hour before walking back down the hill from his grandparents’ row.
He called out to the men waiting nearby, "Let’s go!"
Afterward, Wu Yun drove to his old house. By the time he had finished cleaning up, it was nearly noon.
By now, Wei Wu and the others were starving.
Wu Yun waved and grinned. "Come on! I’m treating you all to lunch. We’re having a Jingyang specialty—Yongji Dry Pot!"
Hawkeye asked curiously, "Boss, what’s so special about this Yongji Dry Pot?"
"Dry pot originated right here in Jingyang! And Yongji Dry Pot is the most famous, time-honored dry pot place in the city. I’ve been eating here for as long as I can remember! It’s delicious!" Wu Yun said with a chuckle, a nostalgic look on his face.
But he snapped out of it in an instant, leading the way up to the second floor, drawing the gazes of many passersby on the mahjong-parlor-lined street.
"How many?" As soon as they reached the entrance, a waiter from Yongji Dry Pot greeted them enthusiastically. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw the four foreigners trailing behind Wu Yun.
"Seven! Do you have any private rooms available?" Wang Hao stepped forward to ask.
The waiter smiled apologetically. "I’m sorry, sir, we don’t have any private rooms left at this hour. But we do have a table for eight in the main dining hall."
Wang Hao glanced at Wu Yun, who nodded. Only then did he say, "Great! We’ll take it, thanks!"
The waiter led them to a table for eight in the main dining hall and handed them menus. "Seven of you, sirs! And all so well-built. You’ll probably need at least three large pots!"
Wu Yun glanced at the menu and ordered without a second thought. "Alright! We’ll have one soup pot with pork ribs."
"For the dry pots, one with a pork rib and shrimp combo, and another with a pig’s trotter and chicken wing combo!"
Then Wu Yun passed the menu to the foreigners. "You guys take a look. If you add two or three appetizers, that should be enough for all of us."
A moment later, the waiter finished taking their order. "Please be patient, gentlemen. We’re quite busy right now, so the food might take a little longer to come out."
Wu Yun looked up at the bustling, noisy hall and nodded in understanding.
Then, his gaze drifted and he noticed a woman at a table for two. She looked to be in her thirties, was elegantly dressed, and was staring at him intently.
She looked vaguely familiar, as if he’d seen her somewhere before.
However, it was impolite to stare, so Wu Yun simply gave her a brief smile and turned back to chat with Wei Wu and the others.
"President Yu!"
"President Yu!"
"President Yu!?"
Her secretary’s voice snapped Yu Min, who had been lost in her own world, back to reality.
"Xiaoliu, bring me my wallet!" Yu Min’s voice trembled slightly.
Though confused, her secretary, Xiaoliu, did as she was told, retrieving a small wallet from a larger handbag.
With trembling hands, Yu Min took the wallet, opened it, and carefully pulled a small, one-inch photo from an inner compartment. The picture was yellowed, clearly showing its age.
Xiaoliu was stunned to see her boss acting so out of character. After all, at the office, President Yu was an absolute iron lady, decisive and assertive—her word was law.
Xiaoliu had seen that small photo before. It was of a handsome young man in his twenties, dressed in an old-fashioned military uniform.
The man in the photo was supposedly President Yu’s husband. Xiaoliu had never met him; she’d only heard that he had died tragically when he was young.
In the brief moment Xiaoliu was lost in thought, Yu Min had already covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face, her eyes locked fixedly in one direction.
Xiaoliu quickly stood up, grabbing a few tissues from the dispenser on the table. She hurried around to Yu Min’s side, leaning down to offer them to her. "President Yu! What’s wrong!?"
It was as if Yu Min hadn’t heard her. She didn’t take the tissues, her eyes fixed in a blank stare on a table of guests up ahead.
Xiaoliu followed her gaze. Seven men were crowded around a table for eight. A handsome young man sat slightly apart from the others, angled toward their table, laughing and chatting happily with his companions.
