Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 367 - 342: Utah Concealed Carry Permit
"We’ll take it! Blacksmith, ring us up! And don’t forget the grenades and C4!" Wu Yun said, making the final call.
Hawkeye suddenly thought of something. "Blacksmith! Can you help us get carry permits? I remember there’s a Utah concealed carry permit that’s recognized in over thirty states across America!" (PS: In reality, several states, including California and Nevada—where Las Vegas is located—do not recognize this permit.)
Without a permit, if they were ever stopped, someone like Wei Wu on a tourist visa would be in deep trouble.
The Blacksmith hesitated for a moment. "We can, but... the price goes up the faster you need it."
Wu Yun asked, "What’s the fastest you could get them for my five bodyguards?"
The Blacksmith did some quick mental math before saying, "I’ll have to make a call to confirm. Are you guys serious?"
Wu Yun nodded.
The Blacksmith quickly scurried out again. Three minutes later, he walked back in with a huge smile. "It’s doable! You can have them in three days, tops! However, for Hawkeye and our German brother, it’s US$100,000 each. But for the man from Huaxia and the two Russian brothers, it’ll be US$150,000 each since they’re on tourist visas."
"Done! Let’s get the bill."
The Blacksmith loved big-spending clients like Wu Yun. In just a short time, he’d already spent hundreds of thousands of US Dollars! It was rare to find an individual client like this in Los Angeles.
The Blacksmith pulled out his phone, along with a pen and paper, and began to tally up the items for the sale.
"Utah concealed carry permits... US$650,000 total."
"Five M4A1s with accessories... US$11,000."
"One M249 light machine gun with accessories and a spare barrel... US$3,000."
"Two Remington Model 870 Shotguns... US$2,000."
"One Barrett M82A1... US$10,000."
"Five Beretta 92Fs... US$2,500 total."
"One M1911 and one Glock 17... US$1,200."
"One HK416... US$10,000."
"Seven Level II body armor vests... US$14,000."
"Seven sets of tactical vests with armor plates and helmets... US$3,500."
"Five sets each of night vision goggles and personal radios... US$10,000 total!"
"Two ballistic shields... US$2,000."
"Assorted ammunition and magazines... we’ll call it a discounted price of US$15,000."
"Grenades and C4... US$5,000 total!"
The Blacksmith listed all the items, reading the prices aloud to the group as he wrote.
They hadn’t realized how much it was, but the final tally was shocking.
"The grand total comes to US$739,200! I’ll give you a discount... let’s knock off the US$9,200 and call it an even US$730,000!" The Blacksmith was grinning from ear to ear.
"By the way, Hawkeye, you know we only take cash, right?"
Hawkeye nodded and took the duffel bag Wei Wu handed him. He unzipped it, revealing stacks of greenbacks inside.
Wu Yun had gotten half a million dollars in cash through a VIP exchange when he landed, and he’d contacted a bank to withdraw another half a million that afternoon.
The US$730,000 in cash was stacked neatly on the table. It might not have been an astronomical sum, but it was still a visually arresting sight.
After counting it, the Blacksmith smiled, stuffed the cash into a bag, and handed it to one of his men.
Wei Wu and the others quickly finished bagging the firearms as well.
"To thank you all for your business, I’ve decided to personally gift each of you a hand-forged blade. Please, follow me upstairs and pick one out!" The Blacksmith’s smile was very friendly. If he’d had a big potbelly to go with it, he would have looked completely harmless.
Wu Yun chose a Knight’s Longsword with a Damascus steel pattern, planning to add it to his collection back home.
The others chose a mix of daggers and single-handed hunting knives.
After everyone had loaded their gear into the trunk, the Blacksmith and his subordinate placed the bags of ammunition inside the car.
The rolling steel door opened, and two large G-Wagens backed out, startling the streetwalkers standing by the roadside.
The Blacksmith stood by the road, waving. "I’ll have my guys call Hawkeye beforehand and deliver the rest of your little darlings to the specified location!"
Watching the G-Wagens disappear into the distance, the Blacksmith smiled, turned, and shut the rolling door. A moment later, the sound of a hammer on steel rang out from the workshop.
In the car, Hawkeye asked, "Boss, when it’s time to go back to Huaxia, are we supposed to store all this stuff with the Blacksmith?"
’Hawkeye knew they definitely couldn’t bring this arsenal back to Huaxia; planes are subject to separate inspections when crossing borders.’
Wu Yun laughed. "I’ve already thought about that! I had the Gulfstream Company design the plane with a large safe and a hidden compartment specifically for storing things."
"I’ve got it all planned out! When we go to the Gulfstream Company to inspect the plane, we’ll just load this stuff on then!" (Please don’t confuse this novel with reality. While it might be possible to hide small items on a private jet, anything more would definitely be discovered! Otherwise, a lot more people would be using private jets for smuggling.)
"We’ll head to Las Vegas first. After we’ve had some fun, we can decide whether to have the Blacksmith ship the gear or if we’ll drive it over ourselves."
"You got it!" Seeing that his boss already had a plan, Hawkeye didn’t ask any more questions. With this new equipment, they would be much better prepared to handle any future crises.
Back at their hotel villa, because they had bought so much stuff, Wu Yun had Wang Hao contact the rental agency from that morning and swap one of the G-Wagens for a modified Ford F-150.
After dinner, Hawkeye and Wei Wu drove off to the agreed-upon location.
At eight o’clock that evening, Wu Yun got a video call from Qi Fei. He was a bit surprised to see she had started a group call and pulled Wen Meng in as well.
So Qi Fei had initiated the video chat directly from their group.
Soon, three video feeds appeared on Wu Yun’s phone.
One feed showed him in a bathrobe, leaning against the railing of his villa’s balcony with the twinkling city lights in the background.
Another showed Wen Meng in what looked like a hot pot restaurant, with the din of a crowd all around her.
And Qi Fei still had her makeup on from her film shoot.
"Xiaoyunzi! Having fun in Los Angeles? Are the foreign girls there really all busty with big butts!?" Qi Fei asked in a teasing tone.
"Yeah, yeah! I heard things are pretty wild in Los Angeles! That rich guys can throw a pool party just by flashing a little cash!" Wen Meng chimed in.
Wu Yun couldn’t help but facepalm. "Let me show you the room I’m staying in!"
After panning his phone around to prove his innocence, Wu Yun laughed and said, "I’m not even over the jet lag yet! I haven’t been out at all!"
"I did go out this afternoon to buy some stuff for self-defense, though! And I took some interesting videos!"
With that, Wu Yun sent them the video he had taken of the "local color" on Figueroa Street earlier that day.
A moment later, a disgusted look appeared on Qi Fei’s face. "Xiaoyunzi, I can’t believe you hang around places like that! Those women are so gross! Dressed like that in broad daylight! Have they no shame?"
Wen Meng chuckled. "Seeing them actually puts my mind at ease! At least we have faith in your taste!"
Wu Yun rolled his eyes. "Fine, tomorrow I’ll go bang a Hollywood starlet just to show you guys!"
