Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 365 - 341: It’s Not Excessive for a Bodyguard to Have an AK, Right
"Relax! They’re friends of the boss!" Blacksmith reassured his subordinate.
Seeing the two relax a little, he then turned to Wu Yun’s group with a smile. "Gentlemen, see any treasures you fancy?"
Hearing Blacksmith’s words, Hawkeye immediately pulled a folded piece of notebook paper from his pocket.
Hawkeye unfolded the paper. It was covered in English words and numbers.
"Blacksmith, you got any Russian-made AK-47s or Huaxia-made Type 56s? We’ll take five! Oh! And one RPK light machine gun!"
"At least three thousand rounds of 7.62mm ammo!"
"Thirty offensive grenades, ten defensive grenades! And five blocks of C4!"
Blacksmith’s brow furrowed. "Shit, are you guys planning to rob a bank? Or are you trying to empty out my entire private stock?"
"This isn’t standard equipment for bodyguards! Are you planning an assault?"
The more Blacksmith spoke, the more uneasy this group made him. ’Are they trying to set me up?’ If something went wrong with a few handguns, Fu Bole might turn a blind eye, but things like grenades and C4 bombs weren’t something you could just sell casually.
If something happened and it was traced back to him, he’d bet his life someone would show up to haul him off to prison.
"We’re bodyguards. Having an AK is perfectly reasonable, isn’t it?"
Hawkeye said with a chuckle, "It’s just a professional habit! Besides, our boss is worth over a billion US dollars. It only makes sense for us to buy this stuff to protect him!"
"A billion US dollars!!!" Blacksmith looked the young Huaxia man before him up and down, still in disbelief.
Then, Blacksmith said, "No, you have to show me some proof. And I need to call Sam to confirm!"
Hawkeye immediately opened Weibo on his phone, found Wu Yun’s account, and said, "Look, my boss has over five million fans in Huaxia. Why would a public figure like him do something stupid?"
After scrolling through it for a moment, Blacksmith said, "What about proof of assets!"
Hawkeye then searched for a news article from a while back speculating on Wu Yun’s assets, copied it into a translation app, and showed it to Blacksmith. "This news is from two or three months ago. Our boss’s net worth is only higher than this, not lower!"
Most of Blacksmith’s doubts were dispelled, but he still said, "You guys look around for a bit. I’m going to step out and give Sam a call!"
With that, he walked into the stairwell. The group only heard the THUMP THUMP THUMP of his footsteps fading away.
Just as Wu Yun was admiring the dazzling array of handguns on the wall, he heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
Blacksmith walked in with a chuckle and said, "Sam gave the okay! But he says you should avoid using these big toys as much as possible, or it’ll be a huge hassle! If something happens, he won’t take any responsibility."
"For the grenades and C4, I’ll give you an address tonight. You can send someone to pick them up then. For now, let’s talk about the guns."
As he spoke, Blacksmith went over to a wooden crate, jammed a crowbar into a gap in the lid, and popped it open with a light pry.
Blacksmith grabbed an assault rifle without a magazine from inside. He lowered his head and sniffed the gun’s body with an expression like he was smelling a woman’s perfume. "A Huaxia-made Type 56. Brand new, still in the wrapper."
The group moved closer and could clearly smell the gun oil wafting from the rifle and the crate.
Blacksmith said, "If you were just any customers, I definitely wouldn’t give you any advice. But Hawkeye, you’re Sam’s friend, and Sam wants to be friends with your boss, so I suggest you don’t go for these bare-bones rifles."
Hawkeye slapped his own head, looking embarrassed. "Fuck! That was a real oversight on my part!"
Seeing everyone looking at him, Hawkeye explained, "This is the United States. The market is flooded with small-caliber 5.56mm NATO-standard rounds. Although you can find 7.62mm firearms here, most of them are treated as collectibles. Resupplying ammo is definitely not as convenient as with 5.56mm!"
Blacksmith nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "The second reason is that you can’t install accessories on these bare-bones rifles. They’re nowhere near as convenient to use as an M16 or M4!"
"If your budget allows, I recommend buying one of those two models!" As he spoke, Blacksmith racked the bolt on the Type 56 in his hands a couple of times. The sound was crisp and smooth.
Wu Yun looked at Wei Wu and Da Xiong. "Have you guys used these guns before?"
Wei Wu nodded, and then Da Xiong spoke up. "We have. These small-caliber ones just don’t have the same kick as the large-caliber ones!"
Wu Yun nodded at Hawkeye. Hawkeye understood and said, "Alright, give us five M4s. Do you have all the accessories?"
Blacksmith’s smile grew wider. "We do. Plenty of them. You can customize them according to your personal preferences."
Blacksmith then led the group to another crate. After prying it open, it revealed M4s that looked very familiar to Wu Yun from online games. They had rails on the body, clearly meant for mounting all sorts of accessories.
"Blacksmith, how much for one of these M4s?" Hawkeye asked casually.
"1500 USD for the base rifle. Accessories are extra!" Blacksmith chuckled.
Hawkeye exploded. "What! When I was in the service, a fully kitted one was only 1200 USD! Why don’t you just rob people, you motherfucker!"
"Brother, this is Los Angeles!" Blacksmith wasn’t angry. He picked up an M4 from the crate and said, "Take a look! See if this gun has that damned bullet button!"
Just as Hawkeye was about to argue, Wu Yun stopped him. "Alright, Hawkeye, don’t worry about petty cash! Hurry up and pick out the accessories so we can look at the rest of the gear!"
Blacksmith said with a chuckle, "The boss is generous! Sam just told me we can give you a discount on the ammunition!"
