"Mamma!"

William’s entire body stiffened, and he looked at the girl with a speechless expression.

"I am a man. I can’t be Mamma. Call me Dadda— I mean, call me Brother." William felt a headache as he looked at the innocent eyes of the girl.

The girl tilted her head slightly upon hearing William and opened her mouth.

"Dadda!" ℯℯ𝑙.

"Don’t just focus on what I said by mistake. Focus on the later part," William looked at the girl seriously. "Call me Brother."

The girl stared at him for a moment before opening her mouth.

"Dadda Brother."

Black lines appeared on William’s forehead.

’This brat is rage-baiting me, right?’

William took a deep breath and spoke again.

"It’s not Dadda. Only Brother. Call me B-R-O-T-H-E-R."

"Brother Dadda!"

’Damn it. It’s good that Vivian is not here. If she had seen a little girl calling me Dadda, I would already be buried a thousand feet underground.’

William rubbed his temples and gave up on correcting her for now.

Since she could speak, he tried to ask her a few things. But other than a few words that she had just spoken, she did not say anything.

Seeing he wasn’t going to get anything from her, he sighed and shook his head.

"Forget it."

He looked at the Night Crawler beside him and gave it a stern warning.

"Don’t try to harm her."

The Crawler nodded and even stuck out its long tongue, trying to act like a puppy.

William felt goosebumps rising over his body seeing that long tongue dripping with disgusting saliva and took a step back.

’Fuck my life. I am surrounded by a bunch of weird people and things.’

He looked at the little girl and waved his hand impatiently.

"Go play with it. Don’t disturb me."

The girl looked at William’s action and copied him, waving her hand at him.

"Dadda... Dadda Dadda."

Black lines appeared on William’s forehead, and he really had the urge to spank her backside.

But seeing her joyful expression as she waved her hand at him, he sighed and shook his head.

’Forget it. I am not such a low person that I would beat a kid.’

He ignored her constant Dadda and walked away, sitting down while leaning against a boulder.

The girl saw William walking away and blinked her eyes. But soon, she shifted her attention to the Crawler and climbed onto its back, repeating the chant of Dadda Dadda as she pointed forward, asking it to move.

William looked at her action with a thoughtful look, his eyes narrowing slightly.

’Did you find anything strange about her?’

’No,’ Eva answered his question. ’She seems like a newborn child who is curious about everything. Other than that same strange feeling that I got earlier from her, I did not find anything weird about her.’

’Hmmm...’ William nodded thoughtfully and rubbed his chin.

’She was hidden behind that stone map, and the map led to Varhan City. Maybe, I need to go there to find out more about her.’

His eyes flickered slightly as William had another thought in his mind.

He stared at the joyful girl and shifted his attention to the trial on his status window.

’It might also be possible that she is related to my trial in some way. It’s just that I still haven’t figured out in what way. That’s why the status window is not showing anything.’

Shaking his head to put away his thoughts, he asked another question to Eva.

’What about the Spirit Orb that we got from the Crawler? Have you found anything wrong with it?’

’There actually is...’ Eva responded in a low voice. ’It’s true that this orb can increase your soul power. But I sensed another energy within it. I am not sure what this energy is, but I don’t have a good feeling about it.’

’A strange energy...’ William frowned at Eva’s words. ’You mean this orb might harm me if I use it to increase my soul power?’

’There is indeed this possibility...’ Eva did not deny it. ’But the amount of this energy is very low. If the power that can increase your soul strength occupies about 99.999% of the Spirit Orb, then the strange energy only occupies 0.001%. Although I feel it’s strange, I don’t think it will harm you as long as you use it in moderation.’

William fell into deep thought upon hearing Eva and tapped his finger on his thigh.

’An unknown energy, huh...’ He took a deep breath, and a sharp light flashed in his eyes.

’Give me that orb, Eva.’

’Are you going to use it?’ Eva was surprised by William’s immediate decision.

’Yes,’ William responded calmly. ’Since this thing can make me strong and there is no major issue with it, why wouldn’t I use it?’

Eva was silent upon hearing William’s response and reminded him seriously.

’Don’t forget what I said. Using it a few times might not cause any problem, but using a lot of them is not a wise choice.’

A white light flashed, and the Spirit Orb appeared in William’s palm.

’Don’t worry, I will be careful.’ William nodded at Eva’s warning and looked at the orb with gleaming eyes.

’I wonder if my guess is correct. If it’s really as I am thinking, this thing is really a treasure for me.’

Taking a deep breath, William tossed the Spirit Orb directly into his mouth.

Nothing out of the world happened when the Spirit Orb entered his mouth. It simply turned into a gentle stream of cold energy that directly rushed into the sea of consciousness.

William felt a cool sensation envelop his head, and he couldn’t help but close his eyes, feeling the changes in his soul power.

’The effect is actually quite good...’ He thought as he observed his slowly growing soul power.

Around a minute later, the effect of the Spirit Orb disappeared, and William felt his soul power had increased by about 2% compared to before.

"Just a single orb increased my soul power by 2%. If I kill all of the Crawlers in that army and get hundreds of orbs, how much would my soul power increase..." As he thought of this, William’s eyes couldn’t help but glow slightly.

But he soon calmed down and remembered Eva’s warning.

’Moderation, huh...’ His eyes shifted slightly to something on his status window, and a thoughtful look appeared on his face.

’Maybe I can go a bit overboard with this thing.’
