Chapter 218: Dadda! (Part 1)

William, who was planning to let his mind calm down after experiencing one strange event after another, narrowed his eyes as he saw the little girl waking up.

He did not walk towards her. Instead, he hid behind a boulder and concealed his aura to the extreme, planning to observe the situation first.

If she wasn’t really a child but something else disguised as a child, she might immediately show her true colors after seeing there was no one around her.

The girl’s eyes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened them.

The girl sat up on the blanket and looked around while blinking her eyes, her face full of curiosity about her surroundings.

’Eva, you keep an eye on her as well. If you notice anything strange, immediately inform me.’ William spoke to Eva as he watched the girl stand up.

Standing up, the girl tried to walk forward but stumbled, almost falling to the ground. But instead of panicking, the girl actually showed a look of interest and began to walk forward, as if she found walking very novel.

Suddenly, a strange sound echoed amid the darkness, and the girl stopped walking, looking at her stomach with a confused look.

She patted it and stretched out her ears towards her stomach, wanting to hear the same sound again.

Grumble!

The sound once again came from her stomach. The girl’s eyes lit up with joy as she patted her stomach again and again.

William’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch when he saw what she was doing, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to think.

’Why do I have a feeling that even if she is not a real child but a monster disguised as one, it’s a kind of monster who would think it’s taking a bath even if someone threw it into boiling oil?’

Thud!

Suddenly, the girl dropped to the ground, and a fatigued look appeared on her doll-like face.

She rubbed her small belly, and her eyes fell on the stones and sand around her.

She picked up a handful of dry sand, and even though she didn’t know why she was feeling weak or why her stomach was making sounds, she instinctively brought the sand towards her mouth.

When William saw this, he frowned slightly, and in the end, a sigh escaped his mouth.

’Forget it, I am really feeling like a child abuser at the moment.’ He muttered inwardly, and, taking a step forward, immediately appeared beside the little girl.

Stretching out his hand, he grabbed her small palm that was inches away from tossing sand into her mouth.

"You can’t eat dirt," He said calmly and easily opened her clenched fist, letting the sand fall to the ground.

The girl was taken aback when she heard William’s voice and looked at him with eyes full of curiosity.

"What is your name?" William squatted down beside her and asked in a soft voice. Though, he was ready to use Blink Skill anytime to move away in case of danger.

The girl tilted her head in confusion upon hearing William.

’Could it be that she doesn’t understand Universal Language?’ William thought inwardly when he saw her confused look.

He tried to make some hand gestures to convey his meaning, asking her a few things.

But after seeing him making hand gestures, the girl found it interesting and began to copy him, looking at him with delight.

’Could it be that she is mute?’ This thought couldn’t help but arise in William’s heart as he hadn’t seen her speak even a single word since the moment she awoke.

Just as he was thinking, the little girl grabbed one of his fingers.

She rubbed her stomach with her other hand and slowly brought his finger towards her mouth.

William looked at her action with a speechless expression and stopped her from eating his finger.

"Eat this."

He took out an apple from his storage ring and, with a light flick of his finger, cut it into four small pieces.

The girl looked at one of the pieces of apple in her hand with curiosity, wondering what it was.

Seeing she was still dull-headed about what to do, William sighed and made her look at him while simultaneously taking a bite of one of the pieces of apple.

He chewed it thoroughly in front of her as he was afraid this dimwit might just swallow without chewing and choke on it.

The girl copied William’s action and ate the apple as well. As she chewed it, her eyes lit up, and she quickly swallowed it whole.

William fed her the other pieces of apple and a small piece of dried jerky as well.

He did not feed her too much as he had heard that a person shouldn’t eat too much in one go if they hadn’t eaten anything for a long time.

He also made her drink some water, and after seeing her pale face look a bit better, he asked her again.

"Can you speak?"

The girl didn’t answer his question and just stared at him curiously.

Scratching his head, William looked at this piece of art in front of him and didn’t know what to do.

Seeing William scratching the back of his head, the girl followed suit and did the same.

"You don’t need to copy everything," He said with a sigh.

Just then, the girl noticed the slave Crawler lying on the ground at the side, and her silver-colored eyes lit up.

She immediately stood up from the ground and trotted towards it.

Coming before the Crawler, she stood face to face with it and, after a second, opened her mouth.

"Dadda!"

A soft, innocent voice came out of her mouth.

William was stunned when he heard her.

’She can speak?’

But before he could think about what she meant by calling a Crawler Dadda, she turned towards William and opened her mouth again.

"Mamma."

Seeing himself being called Mamma, William’s body instantly stiffened.
