RE: LORD OF TIME

Chapter 185: Carman Benlot

  • Next Chapter

"My Lord, everything you asked for is ready." A man wearing combat armor spoke in a deep voice.

"Hmmm..." Carman Benlot, the current head of the Benlot Family, hummed in acknowledgement upon hearing the man.

Carman was a tall, middle-aged man with neat brown hair and an authoritative aura around him, indicating he had been in a high position for quite some time.

Sitting on the head chair in the study room, Carman rhythmically tapped the armrest of the chair with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

After remaining silent for a while, Carman finally spoke.

"Have we received any response from the Blood God Cult?"

"No, my Lord." Another man wearing a butler’s uniform stepped forward. "We have already sent a letter to them, but there is no response from them yet."

"What a useless bunch," Carman muttered under his breath before closing his eyes.

"How is the investigation of Lucas’s death going?"

The butler showed a hesitant expression before shaking his head.

"We still haven’t found anything. We tried to look for the person Overseer Richard had spoken about, but we still haven’t found any clue."

The temperature in the room dropped slightly, and a cold gleam flashed in Carman’s eyes.

"You can’t find anything even with the help of the Sky Compass?"

The butler lowered his head.

"The Sky Compass showed no reaction to Young Lord Lucas’s death body. It might be possible that the culprit has a powerful artifact that is concealing their presence."

"Useless..." Carman smashed his hand on the armrest of the chair. "It’s been over half a month, and none of you have found any clue. If you don’t get any results in five days, then don’t come looking for me. Just kill yourself on your own."

The butler and the man in armor trembled upon hearing Carman and broke out in cold sweat.

Carman took a deep breath to calm down before asking coldly.

"How’s the matter of that commoner going on?"

The butler immediately answered in a crisp voice.

"Don’t worry, my Lord. I have already sent Thomas to bring that kid. Once he is here, we can deal with him however we want."

Carman nodded, and a sneer appeared on his mouth.

"Those useless guys, they can’t even deal with a mere commoner and need us to take care of him. If they are so useless, why not give all of their territories, money, and power to me? I will handle it well for them."

The butler and the man remained silent upon hearing Carman.

Finally, Carman once again looked at the man in armor and stood up.

"Let’s go. Let me see what you have prepared this time."

"Yes, my Lord." The man in armor bowed, and all three of them emerged from the study room.

BOOM!

But just as they came out, they heard a loud sound coming from outside the mansion, and a frown appeared on their faces.

"What’s going on?" Carman asked in a deep voice.

"I will go check it out," The man in armor spoke and was about to go out when suddenly—

Bang!

The door of the mansion was blasted apart, and a heavily injured guard, covered in blood, flew inside and rolled on the floor.

Carman and the others were stunned when they saw this. They stared at the guard’s face and recognized him as the guard captain of their mansion.

"Vincent." The man in armor immediately rushed towards the man to check his condition.

Only after confirming that he wasn’t dead and had just passed out because of his heavy injuries did he sigh in relief, and his eyes flashed with a murderous glint.

Carman’s face was also so dark that it seemed to drip water. Heavily injuring his mansion guards was a naked provocation to his dignity.

But without understanding the complete situation, he didn’t flare up immediately. Instead, he took a deep breath and looked towards the broken doors.

Step! Step! ——

The crisp sound of footsteps reached their ears, and they saw a woman in a black dress with beautiful crimson eyes and long, flowing black hair coming towards them.

When Carman saw the woman, he was immediately mesmerized by her beauty. But when his eyes met her crimson eyes, a chill like never before rose from the soles of his feet, going straight into his head and making his body completely stiff.

"Who are you?" Elias, the person wearing armor, immediately came near Carman and seriously looked at Vivian.

Vivian did not answer his question, and her eyes landed on Carman.

"Are you the owner of this doghouse?" She asked lightly.

Carman frowned at Vivian’s disrespectful words, and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

Though he was angry inwardly, he did not let it show on his face and asked seriously.

"May I ask who you are?"

Although Vivian did not do anything and was just standing there, Carman could feel an incredibly powerful pressure coming from her.

Just from her presence and the way she spoke, he was certain she wasn’t normal.

"You are not qualified to know who I am..." Vivian spoke in a flat voice, and her eyes glowed crimson red. "There is only one reason I came here."

"Who do you think you are?" Elias, who was standing beside Carman, snorted when he heard Vivian’s arrogant words. "Mind your manne—"

"Shut up!" Carman loudly shouted before Elias could finish speaking because, for some reason, the more Elias spoke, the more uneasy he felt.

Elias was stunned by Carman’s shout and looked at him in confusion.

Carman didn’t explain anything and spoke to Vivian.

"Your Excellency, I apologize on behalf of my subordinate..." He bowed slightly to Vivian. "You were speaking about why you came here. Please continue."

"You are not that stupid..." Vivian spoke to Carman before giving Elias a brief look that nearly made the poor soul freeze on the spot.

Vivian shifted her attention back to Carman and spoke indifferently.

"I came here because you tried to harm my husband."

As she spoke, she waved her hand, and a heavily injured man was thrown inside, sliding to the feet of Carman.

Carman and the others looked at the man, and their eyes widened.

"Thomas."
