Chapter 2536: Gritty Battle

The energy blast was such an unexpected attack.

In fact, only after they came across Sam did they see energy blasts and energy based attacks being used so frequently.

Sure, sword strikes, fist strikes and axe strikes are all energy based, but they are essentially just physical attacks, amplifying by energy. But a pure energy blast is a different matter.

The battle continued. Icarus didn’t get cocky anymore, he stayed in control and tried to find an opening. But instead of them getting familiar with the beast, it was the opposite.

The beast grew more and more familiar with the way they moved and the way they attacked.

After half an hour of deadlock, the duo felt their breaths getting hitched. They knew they can’t go for a prolonged battle. The stamina of this creature is definitely a couple of times higher than theirs.

So, they had to make a decisive move.

Icarus and Ivar exchanged a glance and that was enough communication to know what the other is going to do next.

Icarus lunged straight towards its head while Ivar launched himself at its tail. The beast didn’t think much and attacked them straight.

Icarus shifted his body slightly and activated the shield, opening it up in a weird angle. The beam hit the shield like a tangent and with that boost, Icarus somersaulted in the air and came close to the beast’s head.

The gauntlet glowed.

The shield disappeared and instead, the inscriptions on it were activated.

A giant energy fist manifested and Icarus landed that punch with all he got.

At the same time, back at the tail.

Ivar used his shield just like Icarus did. The shield hit the tail, he kicked the air and made a sharp turn mid-air and activated the gauntlet.

The axe strike felt like it could cleave a planet in two. And it could if the planet is of low level.

It struck the joint connecting the beast’s leg and the body.

Both attacks landed at the same time.

*CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK*

Several cracks were heard and teeth fell off the beast’s mouth. Its lower jaw broke, while the force sent its giant body flying. The motion of it was opposite to Ivar’s axe’s motion. The blade penetrated the think flesh and bone... unfortunately, it didn’t go through completely.

But because of the excessive resistance, the body hinged on that point and the axe dug deeper, shaving the leg muscles of the beast as it hit the ground.

Ivar forcefully pulled the axe out, creating more damage.

After so much effort, they finally made some progress. The leg couldn’t be used anymore.

And of course, they are not idiots. They immediately took advantage of the beast’s plight and attacked.

Icarus kept his focus on the head while Ivar targeted its limbs.

The beast of course struggled, but these two became desperate and in a way, even as they did it dirty, they felt some pity for it.

Its bones are all broken, its internal organs ruptured.

Even the leather can’t be fully used, judging from the way it looked.

It’s better not to mention the blood. It was long since drained.

The two of them were drained beyond imagination. Just one stage higher and it took two of them to go through so much effort.
