Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1669 There Are Exceptions to Every Rule
“Caroline is flying over the day after tomorrow.”
Anthony’s words instantly froze Alice Turner’s worries. This guy moves quickly; she just learned about it, and that famous celebrity is already flying over.
Alice Turner didn’t say anything else, only silently prayed in her heart that Anthony, the matchmaker, would succeed.
She really hoped everything would go smoothly; that way, she wouldn’t be pestered by Isla Lane anymore, and Thomas wouldn’t feel guilty toward Benjamin Shaw.
As soon as she entered the office, Alice Turner immediately switched to a focused work mode, discarding all the chaotic thoughts in her head. At this moment, she was all about work.
They say people who work seriously are the most charming, whether it’s men or women.
Benjamin Shaw stood in front of the transparent glass door, watching Alice Turner fully immersed in her work in the office. It was his first time seeing her work.
Her working state was far more serious and solemn than he imagined. He had never thought she could be so charming.
He must have been blind back then, not seeing her beauty and goodness.
“Ex-husband!”
A familiar yet infuriating voice came from behind, making Benjamin Shaw furrow his brow instantaneously. He turned to look at the person behind him, feeling displeased due to the address of ‘ex-husband.’
Seeing Benjamin Shaw’s face becoming extremely unpleasant, Anthony quickly reacted and apologized, “Sorry, it just slipped out. I won’t call you ex… I’ll definitely just call you Mr. Shaw in the future.”
Although he was apologizing, he didn’t feel he had made any mistake; calling him that was perfectly normal since the man was, after all, the ex-husband.
“Mr. Shaw! Are you here to see our Ms. Turner?”
To break the slightly awkward atmosphere, Anthony swiftly changed the topic, adopting a business-like approach.
Benjamin Shaw had indeed come to see Alice Turner, but not for business; it was personal. He didn’t want to be rejected, so he didn’t call her beforehand and directly came to her company.
“I’m here to discuss some personal matters with your Ms. Turner.”
He didn’t hold back at all and had no intention of hiding it.
Personal matters?!
Isn’t this ex-husband a bit too audacious? Coming to the company to talk to his sister about personal matters, and doing it so blatantly.
Anthony stared at Benjamin Shaw for a while before slowly opening his mouth, “Ms. Turner doesn’t like discussing personal matters during her working hours. If Mr. Shaw wants to talk personal, you’ll have to wait until after work.”
Alice Turner definitely doesn’t like to be disturbed by personal matters during work time. Anthony’s words were spot-on and quite sincere.
However, Benjamin Shaw did not agree. Five years ago, she barged into his office for the divorce, and that was during working hours. She wasted work time because of personal matters back then.
“There are exceptions to everything.”
After Benjamin Shaw responded lightly, he raised his hand to knock on the door under Anthony’s surprised and puzzled gaze.
Perhaps he knocked too gently, or maybe the person inside was too engrossed in their work—there was no reaction from the person inside after he knocked.
Not seeing any reaction from Alice Turner for a while, Benjamin Shaw knocked again, this time with more force, making the door sound loudly.
This time, the person inside finally reacted.
“Come in!”
Alice Turner’s eyes were already focused on the computer screen, not even sparing a glance at the person knocking outside; she was just that stingy with her time.
“What’s up? Speak!”
Thinking it was a subordinate reporting work to her, she looked at the computer and decisively said.
