Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1660: Welcome Back to Our Cozy Home
Athena Linton really stumped Thomas Fisher with her question; he had only mentioned it casually earlier, and hadn’t actually decided when to ask her out for dinner.
"Thomas, why aren’t you saying anything? Just now, were you only placating me when you said you’d invite me for dinner?" Not hearing him respond for a while, Athena believed he was unsure how to reply, and this uncertainty made her quite frustrated.
Upon hearing this, Thomas blurted out, "Of course not; when I invite you, I’ll call you. Right now, I can’t set a specific time, but don’t worry, I won’t keep you waiting for long."
This matter needs to be handled quickly, as the longer it drags on, the worse it is for them all; all three of them find it awkward.
"Alright, then I’ll wait for your call, Thomas."
Even after Thomas said this, Athena’s mood didn’t improve; in fact, it worsened. She had a strong premonition that this dinner would be the last meal she’d share with him.
At that moment, Thomas wasn’t caught up in extra thoughts like Athena was about such things; he had no mind to speculate on what the other person was thinking.
"Let’s leave it at that, goodbye!"
After saying that, Thomas decisively hung up the phone without continuing to talk further with Athena on the other end.
"Honey! I have nothing with Athena—you have to believe me, I only see her as a sister, I did before, I do now, and I will continue to in the future."
Once he hung up, Thomas started explaining to Alice Turner; though he got slightly tongue-tied, it didn’t affect his explanation. His attitude was very sincere.
How could Alice not understand? Her earlier remarks were only because she felt a bit uncomfortable inside; she absolutely trusts him.
She already knew from her own sister how he’s been living a life of abstinence these years, and hearing that he hadn’t been living happily made her feel deeply unsettled.
"I believe you; you don’t have to be so cautious in explaining to me." Alice took the phone that Thomas still held close to his ear and put it back in his pocket. "Now, shouldn’t you be heading back to the room?"
Since earlier, this guy had been holding onto her tightly; she couldn’t break free.
Hearing his wife say she believed him, Thomas’s lips spread into a wide, silly grin—he looked like a lovable fool. "Okay, let’s head back to the room."
With that said, he wrapped his arms around his wife and returned to their room together.
"Honey! Welcome back to our cozy nest!"
Thomas gave a welcoming gesture with a wave of his right hand, inviting Alice to settle into his room—a place he had lived alone for a long time.
From now on, he wouldn’t have to stay in an empty room by himself; he was a married man, and would be able to sleep cuddled up with his wife every night.
Alice glanced around the room; it was spacious but not as lavish as she had imagined. The whole layout matched his style perfectly.
Perhaps because of the fondness she had for his possessions too, she couldn’t help but like the room as soon as she saw it for the first time.
"Not bad at all! I really like it."
She isn’t someone who pretends; if she likes something, she’ll express it directly.
"Really? Honey!"
Thomas was overwhelmed with excitement and turned sideways to hug Alice; he had been worried she might not like his place.
Alice didn’t answer but retorted, "What good would lying do?"
"No good at all."
Thomas nodded his head sheepishly, laughing, but within he was joyous and delighted.
