Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1659: You’ve Really Let Me Down
Seeing Thomas Fisher ask her, Alice Turner didn’t act petty by being irrationally jealous, and she didn’t hide anything from him either. She said straightforwardly, “It’s your brother’s sister, Athena Linton. She seems to have something to discuss with you. You should quickly listen in.”
After speaking, she brought the phone back to the man’s ear.
“Athena? Athena called me?”
Since the incident happened, Athena Linton was taken back to Golden Morning by her parents, and Thomas Fisher dove into his work at the company, ignoring Autumn York’s pressure to marry.
They hadn’t seen each other for over five months. Upon hearing Athena Linton’s name again, Thomas Fisher felt both puzzled and surprised.
Through the phone, Athena Linton overheard the conversation between Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner. Her heart sank, and her expression turned gloomy, but her tone was full of excitement and joy, “Thomas, it’s me, Athena.”
The sweet call of ‘Thomas’ from the other end made Thomas Fisher’s brow furrow gradually. He glanced at Alice Turner in his arms and instinctively reached up to touch his ear.
His hand covered the hand close to his ear. The soft sensation caused his mind to wander for a moment, and his thumb began to caress.
“Thomas Fisher! If you’re taking a call, just take it. Why are you touching around?” Alice Turner glared at him for touching her hand and withdrew it, placing the phone in his hand in the process.
Suddenly having a hard object in his hand made Thomas Fisher’s brow furrow even more.
As he was deciding whether to take the call or talk to the woman in his arms, Athena Linton’s voice sounded again, “Thomas! It’s Athena. Have you already forgotten me? You disappoint me.”
Alice Turner’s words just now had clearly reached Athena Linton’s ears, not only hurting her ears but also piercing her heart.
Due to the heartache, her voice became sharp.
“Athena! Did you call me for something?” The sharp tone made Thomas Fisher uncomfortably knit his brows, and his voice turned somewhat unfriendly.
Athena Linton sensed Thomas Fisher’s cold attitude towards her, and her mood worsened, “What? Can’t I call you without a reason?”
The questioning tone carried strong dissatisfaction. She had finally summoned the courage to call him, but his attitude was like this. How could she not feel anguished?
“Of course you can, but right now I’m not in a condition suitable for idle chat.” Thomas Fisher glanced at the woman in his arms, deciding to hang up the phone since he didn’t want the woman in his arms to get upset.
Hearing this, Athena Linton’s eyes suddenly constricted, and she blurted out, “Has Alice come back?”
Even though she had already heard Alice’s voice, she still asked.
She felt as if she hadn’t hurt enough and wanted to add to her pain, hoping that being numbed, she might not feel it.
“Yes, your sister Alice is back, and we’ll invite you to a meal someday.” Knowing the girl still held onto hope for him, Thomas Fisher decided to face Athena Linton with Alice Turner and make her completely forget about him.
“When? The two of you…”
Getting married?
Ultimately, Athena Linton couldn’t utter those words. At this moment, her heart was in immense pain and sadness.
In these years when Alice wasn’t around, she still couldn’t win him over. Now that Alice has returned, she knew she stood no chance at all.
