Chapter 1650: Let’s Have a Look at You

  • Next Chapter

Anthony didn’t believe a word Thomas Fisher said, but he didn’t expose him. He walked up and took Alice Turner’s hand, "Let’s go in."

Since they were already here, he couldn’t really send the two of them back.

"Okay."

Alice Turner just gently agreed, walking like a little woman alongside Thomas Fisher towards the inpatient department.

Watching the two walking ahead arm in arm, Anthony’s eyes were filled with happiness. If he knew he would meet his brother-in-law here, he wouldn’t have come with his sister.

But since he was already playing third wheel, it didn’t seem right to leave now, so he thickened his skin and followed them.

Meanwhile, in a VIP ward upstairs, Benjamin Shaw was having lunch with his mother, Isla Lane, sitting by the bedside.

"Son! You..."

Squeak!

Hearing the door open, Isla Lane and Benjamin Shaw instinctively turned to look at the entrance of the room. The first to enter was Thomas Fisher, with Alice Turner and Anthony following closely behind.

"Thomas! What brings you here?"

Seeing the three people walking in together, Benjamin Shaw blurted out a question.

Isla Lane knew the reason, but she hadn’t expected Alice Turner to come along with Thomas Fisher and Anthony. She had only hoped that Alice would visit alone, not wanting the other two to come.

"We haven’t visited in a few days, so we came to check on you."

Thomas Fisher wasn’t aware that Isla Lane had called Alice Turner. He just noticed Isla Lane’s unpleasant expression and thought she simply didn’t want to see him and Alice together; he didn’t think much more about it.

Alice Turner said nothing, following Thomas to the bedside, with Anthony trailing behind her, peeking out from behind to wave at Benjamin Shaw on the bed, "Hey! Ex-hubby!"

The term "ex-hubby" slipped right out of his mouth.

Anthony’s casual use of "ex-hubby" made both Benjamin Shaw and Isla Lane’s expressions turn sour, especially Isla Lane, whose face looked particularly displeased.

"Auntie!"

Alice Turner noticed the unusual expressions of Isla Lane and Benjamin Shaw. To avoid any awkward situations, she called out to "Auntie" before Isla Lane could lose her temper.

Hearing Alice call her, Isla Lane snapped back to reality and looked at Alice approaching her, her expression softening significantly upon seeing her.

"Alice! You’re here."

Speaking as she did, Isla Lane stood up from the chair, positioned herself beside it, and focused on Alice walking closer, deliberately ignoring the other two.

Faced with her former mother-in-law’s enthusiasm, Alice Turner responded with extreme calmness, only giving a slight smile as a reply.

"Have you had lunch?"

This question came from Benjamin Shaw, directed at the three visitors, but his gaze lingered on Alice Turner the longest.

"We did!"

"No, we haven’t!"

"We did!"

The three of them gave two different answers, unable to coordinate their responses because they all spoke at once.

Anthony spoke the truth, while Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner chose to lie, as they both shared the same idea of grabbing food after leaving the hospital.

Meeting here was a surprise, and having a meal together was an unexpected delight.

Benjamin Shaw glanced at the thermal lunch box on the bedside table and said, "If you don’t mind, I could share some of my food with you."

"No need, how could I impose on your meal? I’ll eat something outside later." Anthony waved his hands repeatedly, refusing Benjamin Shaw’s offer.
