Chapter 1535: You’re Staying Right Here

With Thomas Fisher’s help, Alice Turner and Anthony watched the hotel’s surveillance footage, and in it, she found the woman she’d been looking for.

Even though the woman was wearing a hat and a mask over her face, Alice still spotted a flaw from her shoes. She was now one hundred percent certain that the woman in the video was the waiter she’d run into at the restaurant at noon.

"Let’s go back to the room and talk."

After finding the answer she wanted, Alice pulled Anthony and Thomas out of the monitoring room, and the three of them went back together to Alice’s room.

"Alice! What exactly happened? Why was that woman asking about you and Anthony?"

Just now Thomas had stayed by her side watching the video the whole time. He understood what was in the footage just as clearly as Alice and Anthony did, but apart from the video, he knew nothing about anything else.

Earlier, when he saw Grace Young go back alone, his mind immediately flashed back to the scene of her suddenly disappearing five years ago, and he’d rushed downstairs to look for her.

When he didn’t see her at the front desk, his heart panicked even more; he really thought the same thing from five years ago was happening again.

He called her right away, and the moment the call connected, he heard his own heartbeat speed up.

She hadn’t secretly vanished, but it did seem like she’d run into some kind of trouble.

Ever since she’d watched the surveillance video, she’d kept a stiff expression on her face. It was the first time he’d ever seen her like this.

Seeing Alice acting so unusually, Thomas started to feel anxious. He held onto her, nervously waiting for her to give him an answer—something definite.

"That woman is someone who’s after me. Once she found out I’d come to Flame Country, she chased me all the way here."

Alice was still trying to figure out how to answer Thomas’s question when Anthony cut in beside her. "Sigh, it’s all because I’m too darn charming. That woman sticks to me like a bad rash, and no matter how I try to shake her off, I just can’t."

Anthony was acting exactly the way he usually did. If there was any difference at all, it was the flicker of disgust in his eyes.

Looking at him now, it really did seem like that woman was a persistent pursuer he desperately wanted to get rid of.

Alice gave Anthony a thumbs-up in her heart for how smoothly he lied.

To match his story, she hurriedly wiped the nervous, worried look off her face and glared at him in annoyance. "You’ve got some nerve saying that. I’ve been dragged into this by you. That woman still thinks I’m your girlfriend."

With that, she even lifted her hand and poked him on the forehead to show just how displeased she was.

"But you are my girlfriend." Anthony knew Alice would catch his drift, and he also knew she’d play along.

Watching the back-and-forth between the two of them, Thomas really couldn’t stand it anymore. He raised a hand and shoved Anthony away from Alice’s side. "Go play somewhere else. Don’t come over here clinging to my fiancée."

After shooting a look at a certain someone, he took her hand and led her over to sit on the sofa.

"Alice! Then I’ll head back to my room."

If this had happened before lunch today, having Thomas push him like that, Anthony would definitely have rushed up to argue with him.

But now he’d changed his view of this clingy guy a little. Besides, he had some things to deal with, and he was in no mood to hang around here messing about.

Seeing him about to leave, Alice immediately spoke up to stop him. "You’re not allowed to go back to your room. You’re staying right here."

Her tone and her words both carried a commanding edge, and her expression was especially serious. She showed not the slightest intention of negotiating.
