Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 361: Ch 360: We’re together - Part 2
Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall, Seraphina was having a completely different experience.
She sat on her bed while staring at the wall with an empty expression, but her mind was a mess.
Kael was dating Lyra.
The thought continued to repeat itself in her mind, and every time it did, her chest tightened.
She had always believed that there would be another opportunity.
There was no need to rush things. Kael was not interested in romance, and she had convinced herself that there was no reason to confess her feelings until she was ready.
But now someone else had taken that opportunity.
And the worst part was that Seraphina could not even blame Lyra.
She had confessed to Kael and he had accepted.
There was nothing wrong with that.
’Then why does this hurt so much?’
Seraphina clenched her hands around the blanket and closed her eyes. She knew she needed to be happy for Kael’s sake.
But something inside her refused to accept it.
<Ah, so you lost your chance? Then, do you want me to help you out? I bet I can make Kael fall for you without any trouble. All you have to do is accept me.>
The part of Seraphina she had muted spoke back to her. And unlike before, it sounded so clear that it made her chest hurt.
She knew that it was wrong for her to rely on that unknown voice that sounded like Goddess Aria’s. But she felt lonely...
Still...
"I won’t fall for this trick and give myself up again. Kael will be troubled if I did."
...
Across the hallway, Iris was experiencing something similar, although she dealt with it differently.
She sat quietly while staring at her hands.
Unlike Seraphina, Iris had never been good at expressing her emotions. She had spent most of her life fighting and surviving, and feelings like this were something she had never learned to understand.
She liked Kael.
That much was obvious to her now.
But she had never considered telling him.
Perhaps because she had always believed that someone like Kael would never choose someone like her.
Iris slowly sighed before standing up.
’It is too late now.’
Iris was a coward, and that was a fact that even she acknowledged. She was always the first one to avoid conflict, and if something could be resolved with words or by giving up on something, she was willing to make a compromise.
This time, things were no different for her.
...
Kael woke up the next morning, expecting something to have happened. But he let out a sigh filled with relief once he noticed that nothing had happened.
So he went down for breakfast after washing up, and only Seraphina was there.
She looked up and raised her hand to greet him with a happy smile, but it instantly faded from her face, and she pulled her hand down.
Kael sat at the breakfast table and decided to address her first.
"Did you have a good night, Seraphina? You woke up quite early today."
Kael tried not to overstep, but Seraphina still flinched at the reminder of last night.
Still, she likely knew that Kael did not mean anything bad by it, so she let out an awkward laugh before she replied to him.
"It went fine. I had a good sleep, and I feel refreshed. But I am not looking forward to sorting through the paperwork left for me."
She confessed, and Kael felt sorry for her.
Honestly, it was his fault that the paperwork had all gone to Seraphina. He had tricked her into doing that task because he did not want to do it.
But he had to admit that she was the right person for this task as well. Not only was she resourceful, but she was fast and worked hard...
Moreover, people tended to follow her due to her holy aura as the former Saintess and her cute face. She was still popular, despite being in a new world.
Kael tried to find another topic to talk to her about while she presented him with breakfast, but he could not think of any. So he decided to concentrate on the food. Things started to go back to normal soon when he heard a loud voice calling his name.
"KAEL~"
Thin arms wrapped around his neck before he was pulled into a half-embrace by Lyra. She wasted no time in nuzzling into his neck, almost as if she was marking her territory before she let go.
Her eyes looked at Seraphina with a challenging expression before she turned her attention back to Kael.
"Lyra, calm down. It’s too early for you to be this excited. Did something good happen?"
He asked as he tried to keep up with her morning energy. But Lyra was still bouncing around on her feet, not wanting to sit.
"Something good? I am dating you! What could be better?"
She asked, and Seraphina finally decided that she had seen enough. She picked up her plate and decided to leave the kitchen.
Kael watched her go and wondered if he should call out to her. But he understood that Seraphina was upset, and he also knew that this was something she would have to get used to.
After all, Kael was now dating, and being close to someone was something that was expected of him.
But weirdly enough, he thought he would feel much more guilty seeing the expression on Seraphina’s face...
No, that was not it. It was not just this moment, but Kael’s emotions felt muted as a whole. It was as if he could no longer feel much.
’Is this... a side effect of taking in the god’s core? Am I going to turn emotionless because of this?’
It was a possibility, but not entirely. After all, Goddess Aria had a lot of emotions, so there was no guarantee that it would happen...
But a part of Kael told him that he was headed toward a way where he wouldn’t be able to come back from.
