"Alright, we have all made our preparations, right? This will likely be our only chance to grab Kael and bring him out. Does anyone have any questions about this?"

Seraphina asked as she looked around the table.

She was physically the youngest here, but she felt like she was the oldest mentally. She had devised a plan to bring Kael back, but it hinged on everyone’s cooperation.

To make it possible, she was even willing to put aside her differences and cooperate with others. But the others were not ready to show her the same courtesy.

The demon queen was especially hostile, looking at Seraphina as if she had lost her head. But she was in her right mind all along.

"Hey, I know you have a head on your shoulders, so think about it a little bit. Are you sure you want someone to take this risk? What if they are not able to grab Kael? Or get trapped in that power maze of corruption? This will essentially be someone’s death."

Lyra pointed out with a grim look on her face, which made Seraphina sigh.

"I know that this plan is not perfect. But it is the safest one with the highest chance of bringing Kael back. You don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. I can pull it off alone with Leon’s help if needed."

Seraphina assured the others, which made them grit their teeth in shock and anger. Clarifications immediately poured out of their mouths, but Seraphina only half-heard them as she looked at Leon.

He looked conflicted, but she was sure she could get him to agree with her.

She was about to make another comment when Lyra stood up with a determined look on her face.

"Fine! I have made my decision here! Let me be the one to carry out the task of bringing Kael back here. I am the fastest one here and the oldest as well. I will be able to pull it off better than anyone else."

Lyra’s comment almost picked a fight with everyone in front of her. But no one told her no to her face.

Seraphina had to also admit that the demon queen was right. She was the best option they had available at their disposal. And as much as she hated to hand over Kael’s security to anyone else, it was a necessity at this point.

"Alright, it’s decided then. We don’t have to talk about this anymore. Let’s bring Kael back to us now."

Seraphina spoke softly, and the others echoed her sentiment. Leon was not here yet, but since she had the others’ support, Seraphina decided to carry out the plan to bring Kael back.

And once he was back, she was going to lock him up in a place where no one else would be able to get to him. This way, he would remain safe and sound.

’How dare he get hurt all the time and worry about me like this? I am not going to let it keep happening anymore.’

A part of Seraphina was starting to make her more and more irritated with the situation, and it was about time she did something about it.

The magic circle she created started to glow, and it was finally time.

"Lyra, make sure you bring Kael back at all costs. Otherwise, I am going to lock you up in this magic circle forever."

Seraphina warned, causing the demon queen to look annoyed.

"Tsk, stop threatening me. I am just as desperate to get Kael back. Now, wish me luck."

She said before the magic opened and swallowed her.

Seraphina felt the strain of magic as it tore through the corruption. The backlash was starting to hurt, but she needed to keep her concentration if she wanted to find Kael.

"Hey, you don’t have to shoulder the burden alone. We can both share it with you as well. Especially since it is Kael we are talking about."

Iris told her as she placed a hand on her shoulder, and Elena also forced her magic to stabilize the circle more.

Seraphina wanted to snap at them and tell them that she did not need help. She wanted to be the only one to bring Kael back...

No, she needed to bring him back with her own hands. That was all that was left for her to do now.

But her rational side told her that having help was a good thing. It would ensure that Kael returned to her sooner and safer. That was the only thing that was keeping her going.

"If you are going to help, then pour your magic into the circle, and I will use it to weave a way forward. The more you pour, the better."

If these fools were going to insist on helping, then Seraphina was going to drain them dry. She was going to work them to the bone so that the only person who was left standing when Kael returned was her.

And then she was going to welcome him back alone as well.

It took a long time before she felt Lyra tugging at the path. She had finally found Kael, and she had him. Now it was time to reel her in.

Seraphina pulled with all her might, but she did not sense much resistance. She felt Lyra closing in on the opening, and she let out a sigh of relief...before it started to close.

"Tsk, this is not good. I won’t let you close the opening."

She yelled, doing her best to keep the opening open. But it was getting harder and harder by the second. It was almost as if someone had grabbed the opening on the other side and was forcefully trying to close it.

"What is this strain? It feels so ominous, and it’s draining me as well."

Iris complained as she started to feel the aftereffect of being connected to the magic.

There was only one answer to their question—corruption. But it was not something they could let themselves be defeated by.

"We need...to keep pushing...for Kael’s sake..."

Seraphina gritted her teeth and spoke firmly.
