Aiden hated to admit it, but a single day of rest put a huge backlog in his operations...not that he regretted a second of what he did.

Rather, he truly liked the time he spent with his goddess, and he wanted to do it again. But this territory was not going to run itself.

After various coordinated meetings, Aiden was starting to get tired. He needed a committee that could handle various affairs so that he had more time for important stuff.

"Looks like it was finally time. I stalled for as long as I could, but now this place needs true order. It is time to put forward a government."

Ideally, a government was the perfect body to supervise his territory. But human desire could corrupt anyone easily, and the people of his territory were no exception. That was why Aiden had stalled this decision for as long as possible.

He still had people governing the current affairs on a smaller scale, but it was finally time to start handing authority back to the people.

"It’s time I start sending out notices for this. Hopefully, people will be able to discuss among themselves and come to a calm conclusion."

Aiden sighed and called for the handlers. And he officially presented them with the idea of ’people’ choosing.

...

"So, this is what you mean by the government? It does sound like a fascinating idea, but don’t you think it is rather ambitious? People might not complain now, but the resentment they feel over time could increase each day until it boils over. And if it happens, then we won’t be able to stop it."

The dwarf leader pointed out with a concerned voice, and the others agreed. No one argued that the idea was not good on paper. But paper was not real life.

And Aiden also understood where their fears were coming from. He himself was not sure if such a thing would be suitable or not.

"How do you all choose the leader in your species?"

Aiden asked, now curious, and the dwarf leader puffed his chest out to show off.

"We do it by age and how skilled someone is. The most knowledgeable and skilled person is given the position of chief. Of course, their character is also taken into account."

Aiden nodded, realizing that this was the same as his idea. Then he turned to the others.

"Well, what about you all?"

The fairies were next.

"A leader is naturally born once the last one dies, and they inherit the leader’s memories and emotions as well as intelligence. We all just instinctively know who to follow."

Well, that felt convenient. So next were the water demons.

"What about you?"

Aiden asked the representative swimming in the newly opened water chamber in his conference room.

He had it made especially for these occasions. He was sure that more aquatic visitors could come as guests in the future, so he wanted to be ready for that time.

"Us? It’s based on strength. We just fight it out, and the winner becomes chief. Of course, this means that it keeps changing every few days."

Well, that felt like a headache, but since it had not caused any trouble yet, Aiden felt content to let it be.

So in the end, the only concern was humans.

"But Priest Aiden, what are you asking about this?"

The human representative asked, and Aiden sighed, deciding to tell them the real reason he had called for them.

"Well, I called you all here because I am going to make a new organization that will look after this village’s affairs in my stead. As our territory is expanding, I won’t be able to keep an eye on everywhere at once. But at the same time, I also don’t want you all to suffer. So giving power back to you all is a way to ensure this."

Aiden’s confession was followed by a stunned silence before people began to gasp in shock.

"No way! We are not ready to handle something this big!"

"How can we even dare...! Priest Aiden, please don’t say such things..."

"W-We just heard such big news! We need to warn people-"

This was causing a bigger mess than Aiden wanted, and he could not help but let out a sigh.

"Sit down for now. I have not lost my mind, nor am I dying. This is just a natural way for things to process. What will happen if I am not able to be here one day? What if I have to follow my goddess around and I don’t return for years? Will you allow this place to collapse?"

That was not likely to happen. A goddess was bound to her worshippers, and Goddess Apophis would not be able to abandon these people.

But that did not mean they should not be ready for the worst.

And also, as much as Aiden hated to admit it, he was human. There was no telling when an accident could happen.

So he wanted to leave insurance for his goddess.

"Alright, we get it. Since it is your request, we shall honor it and create such an organization. But in return, you have to stay with us forever, Priest Aiden."

The human representative told him, and the others nodded with hopeful eyes.

Aiden could only sigh and nod.

The meeting continued for a little while longer as Aiden explained the basic structure he had in mind.

He wanted different departments to handle different matters, with representatives chosen by the people. It was not going to be perfect, but it was better than leaving everything on his shoulders.

Once the meeting finally ended, Aiden leaned back in his chair and let out a tired sigh.

’This is going to be a lot more work than I expected.’

But despite his exhaustion, Aiden felt relieved.

At least now, his people would have a system that could continue functioning even without him.

And perhaps that would give him more time to spend with his goddess.
