Ning Shu had rolled off the bunk bed, but luckily the quilt had come down with her, so it didn’t hurt much. She scrambled up and tossed the bedding back onto her bunk.

“I’m sorry. I haven’t been feeling well and I had a nightmare,” Ning Shu told them as she climbed back into bed.

“Nightmare? It sounded more like an erotic dream to me. You kept calling out Song Mo’s name. Could you please stop flaunting your relationship?” one roommate said helplessly. “Have some consideration for the feelings of us single people.”

“Public displays of affection are the best way to stir up resentment and ruin a friendship,” the others chimed in.

Ning Shu: …

She was the one who was a ‘single dog,’ yet here she was being accused of flaunting a relationship.

“What do you mean?” Ning Shu asked, her face full of confusion. Were she and Song Mo a couple?

Had she finally returned to reality?

She pinched her arm. It hurt quite a bit, and even left a red mark.

It seemed she really was back in reality.

Was she truly back?

Ning Shu still felt a lingering sense of unreality. She was suffering from temporal and spatial disorientation.

She was having trouble distinguishing between reality and the dream world.

She pulled the Fengyou Essence from under her pillow and inhaled. The cooling sensation made her head feel a bit clearer.

Ning Shu began to cultivate Unsurpassable Martial Arts. If this was the normal world, she would be able to cultivate. If it were a virtual, distorted world, she wouldn’t be able to obtain any energy.

After cultivating for a while, she discovered a tiny trace of spiritual energy in her internal core. It was so minuscule she couldn’t even see it with her internal vision, but she could feel her body becoming more comfortable.

Had she really returned to reality?

Ning Shu checked the time. It was six in the morning. Since it was winter, it was still dark outside.

She decided to get up and wash. While she was at it, she wanted to see if she could run into a ghost. She was actively seeking out the supernatural now to test her theory.

Ning Shu took her washbasin to the restroom and entered a stall, waiting to see if a female ghost would reach out and scratch her backside.

Some students were already awake, and the sounds of washing and chatter filled the room.

Ning Shu pursed her lips. It seemed the chances of encountering a ghost here weren’t very high.

She washed her face with ice-cold water. It was freezing—enough to kill a person. The weather was truly cold.

After finishing, she sat in the stall for a long time, but no one scratched her.

She actually felt a bit disappointed.

She simply didn’t believe she had woken up that easily.

When she returned to the dorm, her phone vibrated. It was a call from Song Mo.

He was calling her this early in the morning?

Ning Shu answered. Song Mo’s voice was clear and warm, just like it had been in the dream.

“I’m downstairs. I bought breakfast. Come down and eat,” he said.

Hearing this, Ning Shu peered out the window. Song Mo was looking up at her dormitory window, lifting a bag in his hand.

Ning Shu put on her down jacket and slipped out, closing the dorm door behind her as she ran downstairs.

Song Mo was wearing a white turtleneck and a long scarf. He looked the part of a gentle, warm-hearted guy.

When she walked over, he took off his scarf and wrapped it around her neck. It was still warm from his body heat.

“You came over so early?” Ning Shu asked.

Song Mo led her to a pavilion not far from the dorms. Next to it was an artificial lake lined with willow trees. Since it was winter, the trees were bare.

Song Mo handed her a steaming bun. “Eat. You need breakfast, or your stomach won’t be able to take it.

“Your stomach has always been bad because you don’t eat regular meals. You either starve or overeat. Even a body made of iron couldn’t handle that,” Song Mo prattled on.

Ning Shu remembered how much her stomach had hurt after eating crackers in her dream. That suggested the body actually had an underlying issue, as dreams are a reflection of one’s subconscious.

Ning Shu gave a noncommittal hum and chewed on the bun, watching Song Mo. Was he in her dreams even more than she was because he and the entrustor were boyfriend and girlfriend? He seemed to appear everywhere.

“What’s wrong?” Song Mo asked, noticing her stare. He touched his face. “Do I have sleep in my eyes? I’m sure I washed my face.”

Ning Shu gave a dry laugh. “No, it’s clean.”

It was an awkward conversation. They were just forcing small talk.

Ning Shu asked him, “What exactly is our relationship?”

“I got out of my warm bed on a morning this cold just to buy you breakfast. What do you think our relationship is?” Song Mo said while looking at her.

“I could get out of my bed to buy you breakfast too,” Ning Shu said while arching an eyebrow. “Does that define a relationship?”

“Fine. I’m your boyfriend. We’ve been dating for two months. You were the one who confessed to me, and I reluctantly agreed,” Song Mo said.

Ning Shu swallowed a bite of the bun. “I pursued you?”

“That’s right,” Song Mo said with a smile.

Was that how it was?

It was rare to go this long without any demons or ghosts appearing. It was so peaceful and ordinary that Ning Shu felt a bit out of place.

This tranquility made her feel incredibly uneasy. Had she really been driven insane by the stimulation to the point where she couldn’t tell reality from a dream?

Ning Shu ate the buns, barely speaking to him. The atmosphere was undeniably awkward.

Seeing that Ning Shu had a bun in each hand, Song Mo tried to give her all the food. She shook her head. “You eat too. You don’t have to give it all to me.”

As she chewed, her sense of taste felt very real. Had she really returned to reality? So easily!?

If that were the case, why hadn’t 2333 notified her to leave?

Could it be that she was back in reality, but there were still unresolved issues?

Many things felt like a tangled mess in her mind.

“What are you thinking about?” Song Mo tapped her on the head lightly in a gesture of affection. Ning Shu asked again, “Did I really pursue you?”

“Of course! I might not be the most handsome guy in the university, but I should at least qualify as the most handsome guy in our faculty. If you hadn’t begged me and told me you couldn’t live without me, how could I have ever agreed?”

This was clearly a load of nonsense.

Ning Shu gave him a polite hum, ending the awkward topic.

She held deep suspicions regarding this ‘boyfriend’ of hers, Song Mo.

She feared… she feared…

That she was still in a dream, only this time the theme was a ‘sweet and romantic love story’!!!

They would keep switching things up so she wouldn’t be driven completely insane by constant horror. They’d give her a bit of a buffer with some romance, then throw her back into the graphic nightmares. Tossing her back and forth like that… she would definitely go crazy!!

Ning Shu silently watched the man in the white turtleneck. He was quite the actor!

This person definitely had a connection to the entrustor. Even in her subconscious, he was popping up everywhere. Heaven only knew where he came from.

She just didn’t trust this Song Mo, who loved wearing white turtlenecks. Besides, the season here was always winter.

It never changed. Would it kill them to at least try autumn for once?
